ELEVEN
At the Belladonna home Cardin was beginning to grow angry and annoyed.
"This is ridiculous! Where is Blake?!"
"I told you she was captured by a beast!" Ghira said from inside the asylum's wagon.
"That's enough out of you," Dr. Watts snapped.
"Cardin!" A voice suddenly shouted.
The assembled villagers looked up to see Blake riding her horse into the center of town.
Cardin smirked when Blake raced over to him before dismounting.
"Blake you're here."
But the cat Faunus ignored him and began trying to open the door to the wagon.
"Let my father go! He hasn't done anything!"
"Miss Belladonna I'm sorry but your father had been raving about a beast in a castle for days now. The asylum really is the best place for him," Dr. Watts said as he and his men prepared to take Ghira away.
"I've just come from the castle. My father is telling the truth!" Blake began to cry and she felt Cardin put an arm around her.
"This is just terrible isn't it?" He asked.
Blake looked up at him, "Do you believe me Cardin? About my dad?"
Cardin began feigning sympathy, "Of course I do. These men are the ones who are crazy not your father. And you know I'd be happy to clear up this misunderstanding...if..."
"If what?"
"If you marry me."
Blake looked appalled, "Never!"
Cardin scoffed, "Fine. Have it your way. Lock the old man up!" He ordered.
Blake then got an idea and pulled out the magic mirror from her satchel, "Miyra..."
The mirror's surface rippled and Miyra's face appeared, "Yes Blake?"
"Please I need to see Adam. Show him to me!"
"As you wish," Miyra said.
The mirror's surface rippled again revealing the beast sitting in his room. But because he was angry at himself for letting Blake go he was tearing up his bedroom and smashing holes in the walls. He then let out a monstrous roar.
The cat Faunus turned the mirror to face the townspeople, "there's your proof."
Many people recoiled in horror at the image and some even screamed.
"Is he dangerous?!" Someone asked.
"No no," Blake reassured them, "I know he looks a little scary but he's really kind and gentle. He's my friend."
That made a few people in the crowd step back and touch their hidden Faunus features. They too knew how it felt to be treated as a monster just based on how they looked and they felt bad that they were doing the same thing to someone else.
Cardin however didn't like the loving way Blake was looking at the beast or the way she was talking about him.
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you had feelings for this monster," the human man snorted in disgust.
Blake held the mirror protectively to her chest, "Adam isn't a monster Cardin. You are!"
Cardin shoved Blake to the ground the grabbed the mirror out of her hand, "You're just as crazy as your father."
He then turned the mirror to face the townspeople again, "this creature is a threat to our village! He'll come here and destroy everything!"
Cardin approached a couple who were holding their infant son in their arms. "Not even the children are safe! The creature will kidnap every one of them."
He reached for his mace which was in a holster on his back, "the only way to guarantee our safety is to kill the beast!"
"No!" Blake shouted in horror.
She then felt two men grab her and pin her arms behind her back.
"If you're not with us you're against us," Cardin snapped, "men lock her up with her father."
"No Cardin stop! You can't do this!" Blake yelled in protest but her words fell on deaf ears as she was thrown into the asylum wagon with her father.
Ghira immediately pulled his daughter into his arms and felt her sob against him.
"Dad I have to help Adam! I can't let Cardin kill him!" Blake cried.
"Blake-" her father began to protest, "the beast...he.."
"No!" Blake interrupted, "I know what he was like when we first met him but he's not like that now. He's sweet and kind and friendly and I lo-I mean I don't want to see him get hurt."
Ghira looked into his daughter's amber eyes and saw the sincerity reflected in them, "Alright," he finally said, "let's save your friend."
So, as everyone in town began gathering supplies and weapons to storm the castle Ghira began using his claws to pick the lock on the back of the wagon.
Soon Cardin was mounted on a horse in front of a group of villagers with Ilia by his side. However Ilia seemed less enthusiastic about what Cardin and the others had planned.
"C'mon everyone!" She heard him shout.
Cardin then held up the mirror that he had stolen from Blake, "alright mirror. Show me the way to the castle."
Miyra sighed sadly but did as she was told.
The cruel man smiled evilly to himself and with that he led his group toward the castle.
The only one who stayed behind was Watts and after a few minutes he decided to check on his prisoners.
Except he was shocked to find that the door of the wagon was open and the inside was empty.
"Wow they really have to make these things harder to escape from," Ghira said from behind.
Watts turned to face the Faunus man and he found himself a bit dumbfounded.
"Oh sorry here you need this back," Ghira said placing the lock in the doctor's hand.
"And you definitely need this." Ghira then punched Watts in the face knocking him out.
Blake gave her father a grateful smile before mounting her horse and racing toward the castle.
