Chapter 5: Meeting With Steve

Y/N's P.O.V

Right now Natasha and I are now going to meet with Steve.

As we walk through the Compound we see Luke Fox a.k.a Batwing coming over.

Luke: Hey, Natasha.

Natasha: Hi, Luke.

She looks to me.

Natasha: Y/N, this is Luke Fox, Batwing. Luke, this is Y/N Walker.

He and I shake hands.

Y/N: Hi. Nice to meet you.

Luke: You too, Walker.

Natasha: Luke, have you seen Cap? We need to meet with him.

Luke: Yeah, he's in the War Room.

Natasha: Thanks.

Luke: No problem. I'll see you guys later.

He nods to me before walking away.

She and I walk to the War Room.

Y/N: I don't know if me being here is a good idea, Nat.

Natasha: What do you mean?

Y/N: Well, I get the feeling that your friends trust me.

Natasha: Don't worry, Y/N. They'll learn to trust you. It may take some time, but they will. Not everyone trusted Wanda when she first got here, but now they do.

Y/N: Why didn't they trust her?

Natasha: Before she joined us here she was working with Ultron.

Y/N: Oh, yeah. I've heard about Ultron.

Natasha: Really?

Y/N: Yeah. Everyone at the Red Room did. Hell, Dreykov felt like he would've made a good ally for us.

Natasha: Of course he did.

(Five minutes later)

We make it to the War Room and see Cap there.

Natasha: Hey, Steve. We're here.

He turns to us.

Steve: Hey, you two. Thanks for meeting with me.

The three of us stand around the table.

He looks to me.

Steve: It's good to have you back, Y/N.

Y/N: Thanks, Steve. I gotta be honest, back in Budapest I thought I had seen a ghost for a moment.

Steve: I thought the same when I saw you back in Germany.

I sigh.

Y/N: So, what happens now?

Steve: We want to help you. And after that you can stay here, if you want to.

Y/N: Cap, I can't stay.

Steve: Of course you can. I mean you're more than welcome to.

Y/N: A string of words, Steve. That's all it takes. A string of words and I'm a brainwashed soldier trying to kill someone.

Natasha: Y/N...

Y/N: The longer I stay here, the more of a threat I am to everyone. I'm sorry.

Natasha: No, there's another way. I'm not letting you go.

Y/N: Nat, there's no way to help me.

Natasha: Yes, there is. We find and destroy any trace of those words. If they no longer exist, you can't be controlled.

Y/N: How?

Natasha: We find the Red Room.

Steve: She's right. Do you have any idea on where it might be?

Y/N: No. No idea. Dreykov always blocked the location from my memory, just in case I ever turned on him.

Natasha: Well, we'll find it. Don't worry. And as long as you're here, you're safe.

Y/N: Yeah. Thanks.

Steve: Nat's right. I actually wouldn't mind getting my hands on some Red Room Agents. The punching bag is starting to feel a little soft.

Y/N: Punching bag? You mean that tapped up column of concrete in your room?

Steve: Yeah. Sounds like you're out of practice, kid.

Y/N: You wish.

Steve: You wanna settle this like old times?

Y/N: A push-up contest? Sure. But you should know I'm alot better than I was when I was sixteen.

Steve: Alright, let's do it.

Nat laughs.

Natasha: Well, while you two are doing that, I'll work with Stark to find the Red Room.

We nod.

Cap and I then leave to go to the gym.

(The next day)

Third person perspective

Romanoff walks into the gym to find Y/N.

She looks over to see him on the Salmon Ladder.

Walker moves up the ladder shirtless.

She smirks as Y/N drops down.

Natasha: Well, that's not the view I was expecting to see. But I'm not complaining either.

He chuckles.

Y/N: Fair enough.

He goes to grab his shirt.

Natasha: Hey, I never said put your shirt on.

Y/N smiles.

Y/N: Okay, fine.

Natasha: I'm kidding. Put it on. We think we've found a way to locate the Red Room.

He sighs.

Y/N: Okay, let's go.

(Ten minutes later)

Y/N's P.O.V

We walk into Stark's lab and see him there with Steve.

Tony: Ah, speak of the devil. There he is.

Y/N: Why are you talking about me?

Tony: Oh, we just watching some of your old news reels, kiddo.

Y/N: "Kiddo?" You know I'm technically older than you by multiple decades.

He chuckles.

Tony: So, were the red and blue tights your idea, or uncle Sam's?

Y/N: They were your dad's idea, actually. More to the point, Steve had wings on his helmet, and you're stuck on my tights?

Tony: Good point.

I look at the machine next to Tony.

Y/N: So, what is that thing?

Tony: This thing is gonna help us find the Red Room.

Y/N: I'm guessing it goes on my head.

Tony: It does. Now, Cap told me about your mental block as it were. This machine will break through it and help you find the location.

Y/N: Why do I get the feeling this thing will fry my brain?

Tony: Well, there is a possibility of that.

Y/N: Great.

Steve: Y/N, you don't have to do this if you don't want to.

Natasha: Steve's right. We can find another way.

Y/N: No, I'll do it. I need to be free of the Red Room, so I need to do this.

Tony: Alright. Take a seat.

I nod.

This is probably gonna suck.
