(One week later)

Third person perspective

After a week of being frozen, Y/N has been fixed and is out of the chamber.

He's now on the outskirts of Wakanda as he sleeps.

Like Bucky before him, the Wakandan children like to be around him.

He wakes up and sees a group of kids looking down at him.

Y/N: Uh... hi.

The kids laugh before running out of the hut.

They run outside to Shuri, who's waiting by the lake.

Shuri: Are you bothering that man again?

Kid: No.

Kid #2: We gave him a new hairstyle.

A moment later Y/N comes out with longer hair slicked back.

Y/N's P.O.V

I immediately cover my eyes as my they get adjusted to the bright light.

I walk over to Shuri and stand with her.

Shuri: How are you feeling, Lieutenant Walker?

Y/N: I'm good. Really good, actually. And it's just Y/N. Technically, I'm not a Lieutenant anymore.

She nods.

Shuri: Of course.

I sigh.

Y/N: How long was I out for?

Shuri: A little over a week.

Y/N: Only a week. You know, I'm starting people prefer me on ice.

Shuri: No, it's not like that. You wanted...

I chuckle.

Y/N: I'm joking. I know why I was on ice. Thank you for helping me.

Shuri: You're welcome.

Y/N: I just hope it worked.

Shuri: Well, it's time to find out. Come with me.

She walks away and I follow her.

Y/N: Where are we going?

Shuri: You'll see.

I really hope this works out.

(Three days later)

(Eastern Asia)

I'm now out of Wakanda and heading back to New York.

And the work Shuri did on my mind worked, she tested me and the trigger word didn't work.

I've just picked up a signal on the Avengers frequency and a team is in Asia on a mission.

I think they'll need some help.

I'm now above the warehouse they're at.

Y/N: Time to go to work.

I lower the ramp of the quinjet and put my mask on.

After that I dive out of the quinjet and fall down through the hole in the building.

I see Cap, Bucky, Luke and Sam fighting off arms dealers.

I fire webbing at one who was gonna hit Cap from behind.

He turns to see me there.

Y/N: It seems I always show up just in time to save your ass, Cap.

He smiles.

I web zip in and take another one down with my Venom Blast.

A moment later all the bad guys are down for the count.

I take off my mask.

Y/N: So, how's it been going, guys?

Buck comes over.

Bucky: Hey, Y/N. Good to see ya.

He and I claspe hands.

Y/N: You too.

Steve: How are you, Y/N?

Y/N: Good. Great, actually. I feel more like myself than I have in a long time.

I look over to Luke and Sam.

Y/N: Luke, Sam. How you guys doing?

Sam: We're good. Thanks for the assist.

Y/N: No problem.

Luke: But how'd you know we were here?

Y/N: I picked up the frequency on the quinjet while I was on my way back to New York. But I thought you boys might needs some help.

Luke: It's a good thing you were close by then.

Steve: Alright, let's tie these guys up and leave 'em for Ross' men.

Sam: Right.

(Thirty minutes later)

We're now on our way back to the Avengers Compound.

I look up to see Cap coming over to me.

Y/N: Hey, Cap.

Steve: Hey. I gotta say, it's really good to have you back.

Y/N: Thanks. It's good to be back.

Steve: Nat's gonna be happy to have you back too.

Y/N: Yeah. How was she while I was gone?

Steve: She was okay. She just really missed you, that's all. I'm surprised you didn't call after you woke up.

Y/N: Yeah, sorry about that. I was just still trying to get used to everything.

Steve: It's okay. So, all the Red Room programming is...

Y/N: It's all gone. Just like Bucky's programming.

I sigh.

Y/N: I mean I still remember what it was like to hurt innocent people, to kill them.

Cap puts his hand on my shoulder.

Steve: Y/N, that wasn't on you.

Y/N: Maybe, but it doesn't change the fact that I did it.

I sigh.

Y/N: The best I can do now is to do better. Save lives instead of taking them.

He smiles.

Steve: That's a good idea. That's what a hero does... that's what an Avenger does.

Y/N: I don't know if I'm quite ready to be an official Avenger, but I know I'm getting there.

Steve: Well, just know that whenever you're ready, you'll have a place on the team and a home at the Compound.

I smile.

Y/N: Thanks, Steve.

Steve: Anytime.

After that he heads back up front.

It's gonna be good to get back and see Nat again.

I've missed her alot.
