CHAPTER 8

Two days had passed since the attack of the Red Phantom, since then nothing had happened, although Keefe and Councillor Oralie had occasional fits of pain. The council was now preparing for the Lunar Festival, which brought together all the intelligent species of the lost cities. All the elves were working to make the festival a success and were helping with the preparations. The ball would be held in the great hall of the palace of Eternalia.

The great hall was decorated with a multitude of ribbons, corollas of fragrant flowers, and tables were laid with divine and refined foods from every intelligent species.

Sophie was preparing with her friends, the council had invited her and all her friends and family.

- But Biana, I'm telling you, I've got enough dresses ....

- There are no buts about it, Sophie dear! You must have a new dress for the ball, it's an obligation... Especially as all the sovereigns will be there.

- but it's a pain... This is at least the hundredth shop we've done.

- You have to suffer to be beautiful, come on we haven't done this one yet! exclaimed the vanisher, dragging all the friends along.

- By the way Linh, Tam, who did you invite as you don't want to go to the ball with your family? asked Keefe.

- Well, we asked Sir Tiergan, Prentice and Wylie,Tam replied, Linh seemed to blush, which Sophie noticed.

- SOPHIIIIIIIIEEEE!!! shouted Biana hysterically, This dress is for you! She said, pointing to a dress like a sunset, decorated on the bust with a million little rubies and ambers. The skirt was colossal, with many overlaying lace, golden embroidery and a multitude of small pearls.

Sophie was forced to try it on.

- Wow Sophie, you are just beautiful! exclaimed Biana and Marella in chorus.

- Honestly, I'm not...

- I'm cutting you off right now, Foster, you're just beautiful! Sophie felt her cheeks flush.

- I get it, I get it. Now please let's go home!

- All right! But I'm doing your hair! exclaimed Biana. Everyone burst out laughing except Sophie.

- Very well... grumbled the inflictor.

So Sophie and her best friend jumped off at Havenfield with Keefe.

After three long hours of preparation, the three young people were finally ready for the ball, Biana had put Sophie's hair up in a loose bun and hung small diamonds on it.

- You are very beautiful Sophie!

- Thanks, Mum, it's all thanks to Biana.

- What if we went to that party? Grady suggested, before he was late, which would be a bit inappropriate to keep our guests waiting.

- Yes!

The five of them jumped into the palace of Eternalia, night was peacefully beginning to fall, and soft music was already wafting from the ballroom.

- Here you are! Alden exclaimed, Now that everyone is here, let's go, said the emissary, and they entered.

The room was packed with a hundred people. Sophie noticed that the council was talking with King Dimitar and Queen Hylda as well as Empress Pernille.

- It is a pleasure to see you again, Lady Sophie! exclaimed a voice. The latter was startled.

- Tarina, how nice to see you again.

- I didn't expect to see you here.

- Neither was I. The Council invited me, my friends and our families.

- May I interrupt and borrow Sophie? Keefe asked.

- Of course.

- May I have this dance?

- You know I can't dance well...

- Well, that makes two of us! he said with a big smile on his face.

Keefe led his girlfriend onto the list, where other couples were already waltzing. Linh was dancing with Wylie, she was wearing a dress that matched her eyes, while Biana was laughing in a corner of the room with Dex, Tam and Marella. Fitz was talking with his father.

Everyone was having fun and laughing.
