Chapter 67: The setting of the Red Moon

Grian groaned as he rubbed his head -still pounding from whatever the hell just happened to him. All he remembered was being trapped in some weird, black void, with flashes of his friends and other people and things, and then suddenly everything flashed as his head started to pound against his skull, and now he was in some weird white like void. It reminded him of the infinity room, only this was something completely different. It was like he was in a space with no gravity, which was very scary to him and only because his feet were on the floor did he not panic, because if you floated away and did a spin there was a chance you'd never find the ground again. So Grian made sure to not make any drastic moves, choosing to keep the chance of not floating away into the void as high as he could. He didn't know where he was - he assumed it was the same space he'd been in as he saw those memories/flashbacks but how it looked without them being active - but he did know he had to get out, because he could still feel that he was alive - and he had a promise to keep.( I̶'̶l̶l̶ ̶g̶e̶t̶ ̶b̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶.̶ ̶I̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶m̶i̶s̶e̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶l̶o̶v̶e̶s̶,̶ ̶I̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶m̶i̶s̶e̶

He grinned his clawed feet against the ground, seeing what kind of damage they did, only to be disappointed when not even a scratch appeared. Next he tried blowing fire at it, which took him longer to figure out how to do it than he'd like to admit, and that only charred the ground. Well at least he knew where the ground was now. Lastly he tried slamming his tail at the ground, thinking that it would work better than his hands - as well as being more powerful. And to his delight he actually felt something move, maybe not by much but it still moved. He grins at his victory but it quickly falls as a dark shape appears in the white void, growing bigger as it grows closer. And he physically recioled as the massive form of Rook stepped towards him, ice blue eyes watching him camly, posture sure and calm, all ounces of the beast Fallacy had controlled gone.

The two looked at each other in tense silence for a long time, violet and ice locked together. It was Rook who broke eye contact, as he bowed down and knelt head bowed low. Now Grian didn't know anything about dragons, but his new hybrid status had given him some of the instinct of one. Which meant he vaguely recognized the kneeling as one of an apology, all feet still on the ground but body lowered down and head bowed.

"Rook...what are you doing here? How are you here?" Grian finally asked, body still tense and ready for an attack even though he'd gotten the dragon's apology.

"You and me are one being, I made from you." The dragon answered, head now raised again, "We are one, so if you escape this place then so do I." He then let out a low growl, "I wish Fallacy their demise as much as you wish it, and I have people I want to properly meet."

"Iskall and Mumbo." Grian realized after a second of thought, he remembers the dragon's thoughts and emotions about the two - he was at least happy to know his love for the two was strong enough to transfer to a being who had never even met them properly before.

"Mumbo? So that's the Red eyed one's name." Rook hummed, "It oddly suits him." The dragon soon shook off the pleasant conversion, instead focusing back on the task of escaping, "Anyways, as I was saying, I wish to help you get free - in turn freeing me with you."

"But what will happen to you?" Grian wondered, violet eyes looking up at the dragon with mild concern, "Technically you've been using my body, which is one thing, but now there's two of us. How will that work?"

Rook shifted on his paws at that, "As I said, we are two made from one, me from you. When we get out of here we will both return to the same body, as it is both our body, but you will be in charge - unless you allow me the control to take over, otherwise I will be nothing but a voice in the back of your head."

Grian blinked at Rook for a good minute before groaning loudly, "This is not what I had planned. But-" Rook looked at him curiously at this, "-it's the only plan we have. Even if I said no to your help you'd still come back out with me. So we might as well make the best of it and at least try to get along, for our own sanity's sake."

"I think that's something we can agree on." Rook agreed, "Now how do we get out of here?"

"Smash your tail against the floor." Instructed Grain, showing how he did it for good measure, "Fire and claws don't seem to work that well, so just stick to the tail."

The dark scaled dragon gave a sharp nod towards him, turning so that his tail would smack down close to Grian's - to make it get done as fast as they could by hitting the same area, or as close as they could to the same area. But even then it was taking a long time, far too long for Grian's liking. So eventually he decided to do something hadn't done in ages: He was going to use his Watcher magic - if it hadn't all dried up and disappeared as he expected it to have.

He experimentally tried to create a ball of magic in his hand and nearly jumped with joy as it worked. He then quickly moved his hands down to the ground, trying to have his magic push at it as well, and as he watched it slowly inch downwards he knew he'd been successful. So with renewed vigor he resumed his slamming, Rook not slow behind him.

Unaware to the two, three beings - of blue, red, and yellow respectively - felt his magic spark to life and they all immediately froze, confusing the other beings in the meeting, and then as one they rose from their seats, calling out one order as they went: "He's used his magic again, the only reason he'd do that is if he was in grave danger of losing his life - or one of the people he cares for deeply. Get everyone ready! We need to get to him as soon as possible!"

The floor cracks beneath Rook and Grian as it gives out, sending the two falling down into the dark abyss it just revealed. Strangely enough neither felt afraid of it, instead it felt like going home.

In the world of the Red Moon, all the people there unaware what was happening, the "dead" dragons eyes snapped open. One a burning violet and the other a cold icy blue. Now they were properly together: Two souls sharing one mind and body, both on the same side now. They slowly started to rise, a low growl vibrating in the back of their throat as they took in the sight of Fallacy right there in front of them.

The sounds and movement caught the attention of everyone, Fallacy especially, as their eyes widen like saucers at the sight of them. The serpent used this as their opportunity to escape Death's grip, slithering away from the being of death. "How are you alive? I killed you!" They growled, eyes flashing with agitation and rage.

"We are not so easy to kill." Rookian (dumb name, but the only one they had) answered calmly, looking down their snout at the deity. They walked closer to them, each step making the red spirits around them flash brighter and slowly fade more and more into existence. The spirits walked up to surround the EVOhermits and the others, but not in a threatening way - instead it was more of a protective circle. Rookian was still walking towards Fallacy and they were by now looking down at them as they cast a shadow over them, "You think you had killed one but instead you've created two, and your own need to display your victory before the war was over will now be your downfall."

"You keep thinking that." Fallacy hissed. They turned to the Shadows, all of which had gathered behind Hills, "Come! We can finish them all together!"

But to their utter surprise and horror Hills just shook his head, not moving from where he stood, "I will not follow you farther than this Fallacy, I might be loyal to you but I'm not a suicidal fool - I can't be on top if I'm dead." He looked down on them as his shape bleed away from Joe's appearance and into his natural Shadow look - which was a tall and thin best covered in spikes and bones, his rib bones wrapping around his outer chest and spine also visible on his back, his eyes remained the same red as they were. "So I'm afraid this is where we part sides."

Fallacy, as you can probably guess, wasn't very happy about this, "Oh you'll pay for this once I'm done with these pests!" One of the other Shadows, the leader who had captured Markus, NPG, and Rodger, laughed at them, "A corps isn't very threatening, deity! Please don't make me laugh like this."

Rookian let them verbally fight it out, focusing instead on the magic rippling at the edges of the Red Moon, magic so similar to one of their own. Seems their little escape was more beneficial than first expected. Seems like Fallacy won't be the only one dying today, Rook thought with an amused huff, And to think I thought this would get boring.

You know what I'm not even going to ask, Grian grumbled, already thinking of ways he could block Rook from his mind whenever he needed it.

Back in the real world, out of Rookian's head, they turned to look down at the still arguing sides, "Oh they will pay. It will just not be by your hand." Fallacy glared over at them then, dagger like fangs on full display, "Then by who's?" Rookian motioning upwards with his muzzle, "Theirs."

Just as they pointed upwards a giant nether portal appeared in the sky and soon colorful figures started flying out of it.To the Hermits these new beings were something they had never seen before - so they didn't know what they were, but everyone else (the EVO people and Shadows the most) did.

"Watchers." Netty breathed, eyes already searching for their watchers - Pike and Zeferix, Watcher's 1 and 2. She was relieved when the two familiar shapes landed close by, walking up close to them.

By now everyone (which was the people who came to rescue Grian) was looking at the two tall galaxy beings, the Evolutions in relief and everyone else in surprise.

"You two are here!" Solidarity cheered, excited to know they now had two more powerful beings on their side (not that Fallacy wasn't already a dead snake slithering). He then furrowed his eyebrows, "Uh, why are you here?"

"Quill used his magic." Zeferix answered him, gold eyes locked onto the Shadows opposite to them, "The primaries decided it was time to come see what was up."

"About time they did." Pike mumbled, wing ears flicking as they looked up at the sky, waiting for something - or someone, to arrive, "The little one really made them more alive, I don't see why they just couldn't visit him sometime."

Zeferix laughed at their partner's tone, "My dear Pike, there's no need to lie, I know you miss him just as much."

Pike's response was stopped by Xiusma stepping up to them, "I apologize for having to interrupt your conversation, but could you please explain what's going on?"

"Of course! Our sincerest apologies. I am Zeferix," The cyan one answered the admin, "And I am Watcher 2 of the EVO world. By my side is my work partner Pike, their Watcher 1 as well as the mate of Primary Ruby."

Pike then took over, "We are here since Quill, or Grian as I believe his name is, used his magic for the first time since he left us." They looked over to where Rookian and that mass was, "But I do think the only thing we are really here to do is take care of those Shadows, the rest of you seem to have it all under control."

"Your definition of control is way different from ours." Doc deadpanned, eyes glancing over at Iskall and his arm.

Zeferix hummed their agreement, "Yes one does tend to change their view after a few millenia alive as a being of the Universe."

A hush fell over the field as the last three beings appeared through the portal, the Primaries were here. Sapphire landed a fair distance away from Rookian, and Topaz and Ruby soon landed by their side. A silent conversation happened between the two, and with a nod at the other they both respectively turned to their problem.

"This is where it ends, all the pain, the suffering, it ends here!" They growl, jaws snapping together with a growl, "It's game over."

Everyone braces themselves for the dragon to strike the deity down, to end it now and then, so when they walked away - strands of magic snapping up to tie Fallacy down to the ground - it was to the surprise of everyone. Rookian walked up to where the Hermits were, gently grabbing Iskall by the scruff of his hoodie, and then started ushering Doc, and Mumbo towards Fallacy, being sure to not hurt Iskall in the process. The two were confused, a feeling shared between many of the gathered people and beings there, but walked forward, a singular spirit floating up ahead of them and grabbing Fallacy's armor before tearing it off, exposing the deity's covered chest to the world. As they got there the dragon handed Iskall back to Mumbo, placing a sword on the ground before he sat down to watch, "We have decided that, as much as we wish for Fallacy's end, it is not our kill. So we leave this job up to the three of you."

It was then that they realized what was being asked of them, but Iskall just had to ask to be sure, "You want us to kill Fallacy?"

"If you so wish." Rookian answered, "We can not force you to take their life if you do not wish to do so."

The three Hermits looked at each other before nodding, they'd do this. But before they could do anything Doc asked for one thing, "Can I punch them?" and after receiving permission it didn't take him long before he had punched the snake in the face as hard as he could, letting out a pleased hum under his breath as he flexed his hand, "Okay we can kill them now."

Iskall picked up the sword with his good hand, the left one, Mumbo took a hold of it from his right (supporting his boyfriends wounded side) to avoid it getting worse, which left Doc with the left side. As one they raised the sword, moving it to Fallacy's chest and resting it there for a good few seconds. The two sides looked into each other's eyes, Fallacy with contempt and them with determination. Finally Doc pushed the tip of the blade in, the diamond blade immediately turning white and gold - the sword of Conquest, growling out, "This for ruining Grian's childhood and taking his family away from him."

Next it was Mumbo, his red eyes uncharacteristically dark, "This is for taking him away from us and hurting him."

And so the sword was two thirds in, and all that was left was Iskall. The Swede was silent for a long time hand tightly gripping into the sword handle. Then suddenly out of nowhere he pushed it fully in, not a single word uttered. Not that it was needed, his brown eyes as dark and gloomy as a thunderstorm gave away enough to tell the intent of the final push.

Surprisingly Fallacy was still alive, though they were dying quickly. And not one to go down easy they started talking, "I find it funny how you think everything will be fixed by my death, because it won't! You will never escape me, no matter how you so wish. There is nothing yo-" The choked as Rookian stepped on their chest, pushing the sword on deeper and also crushing their chest.

"Are you quite done yet?" They growled, claws flexing as they dragged over scaled flesh , "Thank you. Whilst you might be right in saying we will never forget you, you are mistaken in how we will do it. Sure we might be badly hurt and wounded by what you've done, but you forget all you've left are scars and wounds. Sure they might hurt and pain us a lot now, but we will get better."

"Oh but only if it was so easy, huh?" Fallacy coughed, "Even you must be able to tell it's not that easy."

"Doesn't mean I'll give up." Rookian answered them, "It just means I'm properly working through what I've been through." They then walked away, leaving Fallacy there. This made the serpentine laugh, already starting to escape, but they froze when a pair of deadly chill hands pushed them back down. Looking up they were about to hiss at whoever it was, but froz for a second when they saw who it was. And those hisses were the last ever "words" of Fallacy of the Red Moon; deity of lies and deception.

It was over. Fallacy was dead.

It was honestly quite anticlimactic really, just stabbed slowly with a sword, but to be fair their death has no need to be grand at all. Slowly everyone started to come out of the silence they had worked themselves into, and cheering broke out. Death more than anyone.

Mumbo, Iskall, and Doc had all three already walked away from the body and back to the others, but Rookian - no, no now it was only Grian, Rook was dormant now - had stayed, as well had the spirit.

He bowed his head, not at the corpse but at the spirit, and whispered out a nearly silent, "I'll see you back home, father." before he rose his head again, violet eyes meeting the dead white of the spirit. All around the spirits were fading away, the spirits and their powers all now finally released from their binds.

The spirit of Xenagoras Void bowed his head up at Grian, before being whisked away in the same gust of wind as the rest.

We did, Rook muttered in the back of his head, we won.

And as Grian looked up at the sky, the Red Moon he remembers so vividly to have never moved from its point highest in the sky now slowly traveling down the sky, he couldn't help but agree.

Looking at the moon he uttered his last words to it, his finally kick to all of Fallacy's dead and destroyed schemes.

"I am Xelqua Asher Void, son of Xenagoras and Alexia Void. I also bear the name of Grian Adrian Charleston, and I," he paused to glare up at the moon properly, teeth bared, "Am no longer your prisoner."

<I know this is a few days late, and that is admittedly my fault, but I hope this chapter at least partly makes up for it! And as you can all probably tell, the end is getting closer - just a few chapters left! - which brings a few things I wanted to talk about/ask up. As you already know I will be doing a chapter with all the drafts from chp 42 and up, but is there anything else you'll want to see at the end of this book or will the drafts be good enough for you?

And that's about all I have to say! So stay safe and have a wonderful time everyone!>
