Chapter 59: Kingdom of lies

Today was the day. Today they'd attack Fallacy, a final fight to get back what had been ripped from them. Xiusma stood at the helm, looking every bit the leader he was. Scattered in rippling half-moon Evolutions and Hermits stood, standing mixed as one allied unit. Overseeing it all was the Horseman, all mounted on their respective steeds, weapons drawn at the ready. The air itself crackled with anticipation, rigid and twisting with tension and magic.

Iagos, Liz, Antlia, and Alastor were split up on either side of the portal frame, geared up for battle just like everyone else. They had been adamant that Alastor stayed, as he was yet to fully heal up, but the man had refused. Scar and him had argued for a long time, but in the end the wolf got his wish.

Conquest and Death walked up to the tall admin, stalking around the group that separated them. "Are we ready?" Questioned Conquest, gold eyes borrowing into Xisuma's own.

"Yes." He answered shortly, glazing over his shoulder he met the gazes of both Iskall and Mumbo, their eyes burning with determination, "Yes we are."

The taller gave a sharp nod, "Good, let's go then." Conquest motioned for the four at the portal to grab on, and as soon as they had he ignited it, the portal flaring up a deep blood red. He inclined his head to Death, "The floor is yours."

Giving a nod at their younger Death walked up to the front, Xisuma walking off to give them centerstage fully, "I will not say much, for truthfully I do not have much to say, but I will remind you all that this battle is either do or die. And we'd rather avoid you dying. So we have a little something for you all." Waving their hand in seemingly meaningless patterns, black and white runes carved themselves into the air, cutting through the air swiftly and soundlessly, before a crate took its place, "Knock yourselves out, I feel like you'll need it all."

Doc wandered up to the crate and cracked it open, giving out a triumphant cry as he saw what was inside, "It's totems!" A mad scramble followed his words, eyes of all colors shining in the glint of all the golden objects laying in a big pile. A line was organized, each person getting an equal amount and then the rest that were left over was split among the people who needed them the most.

Doing their magic Death fastned the totems into the armor, leaving their hand free to hold something else, and so that they didn't have to waste time equipping a new one.

Conquest nudged Xisuma, motioning at the group and then at the portal. The admin didn't need to be told twice before he was shouting out, "Get the last of your prep done in the next minute! We're heading out." He waited, eyes scanning over the assembled group critically, "Everyone done?" receiving confirmation in the positives he nodded sharply, "Excellent. Now, time to go save Grian!" Cries answered his shout, all just as determined as he was.

Stepping into the portal was both the most nerve wracking thing ever, but stepping out into eerie silence took the cake from it just soon after. It was like a ghost town, no sign of life other than them. Of course there was still the wind, which was now snapping against their skin in violent thrashes, the flags at the top of the base slapping at the sky in harsh waves as the wind continued its assault.

They cautiously made their way up to the castle, the former Fallacy followers leading the way with old ease.

Every hallway felt like it could hold danger, yet they were always cold, and empty of life. For a while they assumed that maybe no one was there, which wouldn't be the nicest after all the prep they'd done, but as they looked out at the courtyard they got their answer as to where Fallacy's army was.

Out on the massive yard thousands of soldiers stood, and shadows and other creatures flanked their sides. And standing in front of everyone was Shard, all six glowing red eyes traveling over the army as they said something the group were too far away to hear.

"Good to see Shard's still kicking." Tango huffed sarcastically, though he kept a healthy bit away from the window openings, "Would have thought Fallacy would have killed her after failing to catch us."

"So that's who attacked you?" Zedaph asked, eyes traveling over the red creature's massive form, the clawed hands and clearly powerful maw specifically, "Not to be ungrateful of you surviving or anything...But how the hell did you live meeting that?"

"Monres saved us, well, half of him did at least." At the still confused looks Tango waved them off, "Uh, I'll tell you later."

Impulse butted in, "Not that getting to know what attacked you, and also what saved you, isn't nice and all, but shouldn't we focus on what to do with them? Do we sneak past and go to the throne room like we planned or do we take them out."

Not even a second after Lady War answered him, "We fight them, you go on. This might not be all of Fallacy's army, but it's enough to not just leave alone." She handed the closest person to her, Mumbo, a coin made out of silver with a five headed hydra on it, "Take this, if you're in danger it will tell us and we'll be there in a second." She turned to her siblings with a wide grin, "Now then, anyone up for some kickassing?"

Not waiting for a response, other than mirroring grins (Death was too, maybe, don't ask her she can't read them that well), she leapt out of the nearest window, gracefully landing on the stone floor below with a thud.

As much as X wanted to stay and watch them be badass, seriously the literal beings of War and Conquest were there, he knew that they now had to be quicker than before, no doubt Fallacy would be informed of the attack soon. Luck was on their side, as the throne room was just a few short corridors away from where they currently were. So picking up the pace they made ground, doing their best to ignore the screams of the battle going on out in the courtyard.

Reaching the door Doc and Iskall took center stage. Nodding to the other they raised their feet and kicked the doors open, both feeling pleased to have done it. Though that soon turned to confusion as they saw no Fallacy in sight, only Hills and a yellow skinned, horned, elf like sorceress were there. The shadow was lounging in the throne as the woman was glaring down at them with distaste, her gaze lingering on Antlia more than anyone.

"Look who decided to finally show up!" Grinned Hills, red eyes shining as he looked over the assembled group, "But I'm afraid you're just a tiny bit too late, Master Fallacy has already left, your little friend in tow."

Doc looked about ready to shout at the, now fully black Joe lookalike, but the appearance of ice spikes that shot up from under his feet halted that plan a bit. "What the hell?!"

"What?" Scoffed the sorceress, "You just think I'm going to let you just talk when I have a perfect shot at you? Honestly, this isn't a movie where we tell you everything and let you say your piece." Hills had by now walked up to her side, a sharp smirk on his face.

"But don't worry, I'm sure Death will happily listen to any and all things you'll want to say." He laughed, intentionally making his teeth visible, "After all, you'll be seeing him real soon anyways."

And so, the battle was on.

Doc was the first to strike, aiming for Hills throat in a mighty swing, but the Shadow easily sidestepped it and swung with his own sword, that he had just created from the shadow of Doc himself. His strike wasn't aimed for his attacker, but at Cleo who was attacking from behind. Wasting no time he made yet another sword and blocked Doc's next attack, seeing that Taurtis was coming up made him teleport away. At first glance it would seem he did it to avoid getting it and so that the three clashed, but in actuality he could actually taste the Watchers Gaze over him, as well as all the other Evolutionists. Just peachy.

Califir was dealing with a bit more than just those three, but to be fair she was making more enemies for them to fight. Swiping with her arm a stripe of ice blocked both Xisuma's swing and Antlia's attack, and with another swing the strip knocked the admon down. To her left most of the Evo players were occupied with taking out all the ice minions she kept making, so they weren't a threat to her yet. She hissed when a blast of fire hit her back, growling she froze the people before her, and in one quick motion she both whirled around and threw an ice spear at her attacker. Tango's red eyes grew wide as the projectile headed for his head, but Impulse intervened before it hit. Letting out a growl of warning to the women, he backed his boyfriend out of direct range, ignoring the pain in his arm in favor of safety. Califir considered giving chase, to just get rid of the fire user in her territory, but rather she just turned her attacks on the ones actually fighting her.

Over time Hermits, Evolutionsist, and others twisted and turned, dancing around the room and switching fighting partners, until the battling was soon even. It looked like they were about to defeat Califir, the sorceress being backed into a corner, but just as Martyn aimed for the kill a portal snapped open behind them, and imediat vacuum effect fell over the room. Califir, grabbing a hold of Hills, teleported behind the portal, slitted amber eyes shining in victory as the assembled were dragged in towards the portal. And despite their fighting, shouting, and general unwillingness to be sucked in, they eventually couldn't hold on any longer. One by one, or more, they disappeared, until all that were left was Joe and Xisuma. "Tell Grian hi from me, will you?" Laughed Hills, eyes growing on the dim room. Before they could bite back they lost their grip, and with a snap the portal closed, leaving them trapped in this new world.

Well, new to them at least. Because this world was not new, no, the world of the Red Moon was old. Nearly as old as Fallacy themselves. Of course, they knew nothing of this. No, all they knew was that they were now in a strange world with no way out.

Scar, being very used to falling and then suddenly being in a new place, was the first to get up. Soon others started getting up too, but by that time Scar had already managed to get a good look around. The world looked a lot like a superflat world set to night, if you ignore the minor, and I mean really miniscule, detail that the moon was a glaring red. And the hundred of thousands of mirage-esc builds that were scattered around where they were as also a little thing that set it apart from normal worlds.

"What is this place?" Asked Netty, looking around with wide eyes, Martyn's hand held tightly in her own.

"I have no clue," muttered Iskall, his hand going straight through, what he assumed to be, a house wall, "But whatever it is I don't like it. Hills and that girl clearly knew where it led, so it has to do with Fallacy."

"But Grian will also be here!" Mumbo added, "Hills said so, remember?"

"And, need I remind you, Grian is currently a big dragon. Sure we've found him, but the ball is still in Fallacy's court here, they control this place." Said Alastor, nose crinkled up as he moved a bit away from the group, "This is the world of the Red Moon afterall."

Xisuma's breath caught in his throat, wide eyes, which had been uncovered when his helmet had been knocked off before, snapping up to the sky for a look himself, "Oh dear."

"You can say that again." Scoffed the wolf, "The only way we're getting out of here is to kill Fallacy, you kill the power you kill the thing keeping the door locked, simple."

"First we have to find them," said EX, already looking over at Impulse, "Think you can give us intel on what you can see up there?" The dragon hybrid gave the red Void twin a nod before taking off, the beating of his wings blowing up loose dirt from the ground. He was up there for what felt like years, but in reality was only about ten minutes, before he landed back on the ground.

"Okay I have good news! After a certain height these builds fade off, but there is a small group of them over west that didn't fade at all." Impulse grinned wide, pleased with his discoveries. Around him people grinned to themselves too, looking like they knew were to go now.

Not wasting a second they started running, flying in Impulse's case, to where said man had pointed. Slowly the builds slowly started appearing, and so did a massive black mass that rested in front of one. Mumbo stuttered in his steep, because this was most definitely the dragon he'd seen. This was Grian.

Slithering out from behind Grian - Rook was Fallacy, the pattern on their hood glowing with their eyes in the dark world, "You finally made it I see! We were actually just talking about you all," they let out a chuckle as their eyes landed on EX, "How terribly we've missed seeing you. Well, I had to do most of the talking, your family isn't very good at holding conversation in the beginning I've noticed." They stopped right in front of the group, Rook's massive form framing the brown and orange scales and gold armor in black and making the color pop out, "But, just like the Little bird, he started talking after a little encouragement."

Doc, who'd been listening carefully to Fallacy's words, froze up, eyes wide, "EX, who did you say you saw as family?"

"Uhm, well Grian and Mar..." His eyes went from confusion to horror in seconds, "No. No, no, no, NO!" He whirled around to the serpent in front of him, eyes blazing with rage, "You can't! You can't have him!"

Fallacy let out a loud laugh, "Oh I can't, can I?" With a hand they motioned for Rook to move from where he was sitting, "But what if I said I already had, hmm? What will you do, little Void?"

The black dragon walked off to reveal a cage, a bock bird in the middle, but right under it three forms were huddled up, metallic gray skin and black hair covering the other two forms.

Gasps of shock echoed around the group, and a lot of sewers and curses were uttered. Because sitting in the cage, were Markus, NPG and Rodger, the biggest of the three obviously trying to protect the other two as best as he could.

"When I already have him?"

<Y'all wanted to know about the three in HC? Well, here they are :) Also, this is one of the longer chapters! Over 2k words (word count is 2594 words)! I really don't know what to add here other than that I'm seconds away from dying, since I have a test tomorrow (and since I've been gone a week I don't know what it's about :| Great, isn't it?)

Anyways, ignoring my life struggles, stay safe everyone! And have a wonderful time too! See you all next week!>
