Chapter 47: Xuan Void
Team 1, which consisted of Keralis, Bdubs, Xisuma, Netty, Martyn, Joe, Solidarity, EX, Python and Doc, were still walking through the wet tall roofed forest, much to the entire group's displeasure.
"Why couldn't Varity just teleport us straight to the temple?" Grumbled EX, cursing has his boots yet again sunk into a patch of wetland. "I mean - this is compleyky stupid! We're wasting so much time just alking throug a dumb forest when we could be at the templet and on our way back by this point!"
"The truth seldom makes sense." Said Solidarity, not looking all that happy with his own words. He frowned as his foot got stuck in a rotten log, but since the log was, well, rotten it wasn't very hard for him to free his foot. "Nor is it very pretty, neither is the way to it for that matter."
"I thought we were going to Death's temple?" Asked a confused Bdubs, looking back at the blond man. "Isn't that what we're doing?"
"It is." Answered EX, batting yet another branch away from his path. "But we're talking about Varity, not Death, at the moment."
The dark haired builder made an "ohhh" face before nodding. After that they traveled in relative silence, though there was light chatter amongst the group. It didn't take them long to find the temple after that, defeneylt didn't take them long at all. Not in this universe, most definitely not. Joe definitely isn't grounded or anything, and especially not for the next two weeks after this was all over or anything.
...you were supposed to be the adult here. Not the reckless wild puppy petting one.
Anyways! They found the temple, huuray!
It was a relatively small temple, but it wasn't any less magnificent. It was dark coal black in color, and you could see engravings into its outer walls. And once they got closer you could see even more engravings, and some symbols looked familiar - well, to the people who knew Galactica that is.
""Long may you reign?"" Read Doc, reading one of the engravings that had obviously been carved there after the temple's creation. "Why would someone write that on Death's temple?"
"I'm more concerned about this." Said Netty, drawing the attention to where she was standing. On the wall in front of her ᔑ!¡𝙹ᓵᔑꖎ||!¡ℸ ̣ ╎ᓵ ⍑ᔑ∷ᒲ𝙹リ|| was written in bold letters. ""Apocalyptic harmony"" She translated for those who couldn't read it.
"The hell? What does that mean?" Asked EX.
"The horsemen?" Suggested Xisuma with a shrug. "That's the only thing I can think of."
Python looked at the symbols with caution, scaled red hands wringing together nervously. "Well I hope that is what it is. We at least know it's safe if that's the case." His statement got nods of agreement from the rest of the group.
They stood there for a few more minutes before Martyne suggested they probably should be going in by now, which the others agree with. So the 10 of them all walk inside, wondering how it was going for the other two groups.
~:~ WITH TEAM 2 ~:~
"Hey Tango?"
"Yeah Zed?"
"I think I found the entrance."
"You did? That's amazing! So where is it?"
"Oh you know no place big. Just at the, you know, top of the temple."
"At the...top of the temple."
"Mhm."
"The same temple that has a flying barrier around the top three layers out of thirty?"
"That's the one!"
"...This is worse than being attacked by that monster Fallacy sent on us."
I'm sorry tHE WHAT?!"
~:~ WITH TEAM 3 ~:~
"This is fine."
"We were attacked by Phantoms!"
"We're still fine."
"You're bleeding from your leg Wels!"
"We're mostly fine."
"We're hiding in a cave that caved in behind us!"
"Well I, for one, am fine."
"YOUR NOT HELPING JEVIN!"
~:~<->~:~
"I'm sure they're fine." Shrugged Martyn, plucking a torch of the wall to give them some light in the dark hallways that lay ahead. Agreements were echoed by his companions. "Now let's get moving!"
As they walked walls covered of carved runes and drawings passed them, even the ceiling and floor were covered in them. At some point the symbols had slowly started glowing until they were a vibrant light blue and purple.
"Well, it certainly looks like a temple." Stated Doc, eyes focusing in on a series of mob head symbols before training them back ahead. "Though I didn't expect all of this from someone like death."
"I have to agree. This place gives me the creeps." Muttered Bdubs, eyeing the symbols in the ground and making a point to avoid walking on them.
The group sped up their walk when they saw a warm glow up ahead, the color matching the torch held in Martyn's hand. As they got closer the distinct crackling of fire, that was not from their torch, grew louder. And so did the shape of bookshelves within the room.
"It's a library!" Realized Keralis, now being close enough to see more of the room. "Not big, but it is one."
The group walked into the room and looked around with amazement, the room strongly resembled a gothic library if you added a ton of black stone into the mix. They breathed a sigh of relief when they couldn't find any runes or carvings. They decided to look around for a bit before they continued on. Joe, Netty, Python and Keralis decided to check out the top floor whilst the others searched the bottom. Xisuma and EX ended up staying close together, and with the two rekindling their lost bond it was nice. Everything was fine until they got to the back, where a big painting was hung on the wall.
"It can't be." Whispered EX, pulling off his helmet as if that would help. "Why is this here?"
Xisuma looked just as shocked, though he didn't take his helmet off just yet. "I don't know."
Bdubs had by now noticed the two's strange behavior, and then he followed their gazes to the painting. The painting was a head and torso shot of a man in dark robes. He had medium long brown hair that was slicked back at the top. Though the most intriguing thing about him was his eyes, well eye more like it, one was purple whilst the other was a dark hole with black spreading on that side of the face. "Who's that?"
The others on the bottom, drawn by Bdubs question, went up to the painting themselves. Doc looked down at the gold plack underneath the painting and his eye widened comically. "Heilige Scheiße."
Xuan "Xan" Void.
The first "child" of Death.
Head sorcerer of the Temple of Spirits.
"This is the first Void." Said EX quietly, answering Bdubs earlier question. "The man who started it all."
"Your forever-great grandpa was a child of Death?" Asked Doc, more to himself than to twins. "Wait, isn't Grian your cousin?" Slow nods followed his question. "Doesn't that also make this his forever-great grandpa? And if I have to guess, I'll say that there were more than just a title to being a child of Death."
"What are you saying?" Asked Joe, leaning over the railing to look at the creeper hybrid.
"I think the Void's, all of them, are related to Death; by ritual apdotion."
<You know this is one day late, but I'm not gonna blame myself too hard (i still will, but just not as hard). So we're just moving on! This chapter is changed so much from what it was originally going to be, and I'm glad I changed it since this makes way more sense then the other plot. Sorry of this is a little all over the place, I've been craving Captain America: The first Avenger since yesterday and since I don't have the DVD I can't watch it so I'm sad about that. Moving on, let's enjoy some art!
Here we have a little drawing of basically the two sides of Grian: Our G and the Fallacy controlled G.
This is my favorite of the three drawings. It's called Rose Leaf, why? Well in flower language rose leaf stands for "You may hope" and I thought that fits. My favorite part is the Rook and Pawn parts, though I liked it all!
And lastly we have the painting! It's not my best drawing, but I'm not unhappy with it so I think it's decent!
That's all I have! So stay safe and have a wonderful time everyone!>
