Chapter Twenty: My finger slipped.
'Why am I doing this...' You thought with a straight face. The girls was happy to do your makeup, since you were popular and all.
"How, your skin is really pretty! You don't need makeup at all!" A girl spoke, followed by another. "Ya she does, we gotta hide her tears realll well." She smirked, and you nodded. The girls around her stared, disappointed. "What? She obviously doesn't want to be here... Jeez..."
"Okay, your outfit is ready (Y/N)!" Someone called our, which is why you stood up, walking over to the girl. Her hair was familiar... but you were able to get a clear view of her face once she turned around.
"Y-Yui? Why aren't you wearing that dress?!" She pulled you into the small changing room in the back, gesturing for you to undress. "Because I'm not the one he wants to see on that stage." Yui handed you your lines to read as she dressed you, staring at the lines.
"What does that mean...?" You asked, but never got an answer. All she did was smile, tightening your dress. "Ow."
"Alright, all done! Did you remember some of your lines?" She asked, slipping in your shoes before she forgot. "Uh, ya, but I plan on winging it! Don't worry!" You nodded, placing a hand on your arm, raising it as if you were flexing. "That worries me..." She chuckled, standing up. "Don't disappoint me, do good out there!"
You gulped, moving from the set up room to the backstage, ready for curtain fall. 'You got this (Y/N)!' You thought, though you were still nervous. Then suddenly, the red curtain slid open.
You inhaled, glancing at the crowd, then to Kaito. His eyes were widened and his cheeks were pink, it seemed like he had something to say.
"I... forgot my lines..." You told Kaito, he began to chuckle. "That sounds like you. Just follow my lead."
The two of you still performed better than you thought, though there was still a few embarrassing and awkward moments. But the two of you kept the audience reeled in, entertaining them.
You weren't sure if he was acting or being genuine, the expression on his face confused you. It actually felt like you were actually losing your best friend.
As you held his body, tears slipped out your eyes. It felt all too real, and it was emotional. "R-Romeo..." You cooed, pulling his body closer to yours. Glancing at the empty body of poison laying next to him, you nervously leaned in, softly kissing his lips.
The poison didn't work, so you reached out for the dagger beside him also, setting him down before unsheathing it. "Th-This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die." You stuttered, thrusting the blade into your chest, but of course it was fake. And so finally the play was over, you laid your head on Kaito as the curtain closed back again.
Tsukishima got a nice front row seat, too lazy to clap. That or... he was simply too jealous to. "It's finally over..." You sighed in relief, wiping your tears. The male under you chuckled, sitting up. "You did surprisingly well, (Y/N). And you look really cute." His compliment made your face blow up in red, looking way. "W-Well of course! I'm good at everything I do."
"Yeah, you're right. That kiss proved it." He winked. You placed a finger on your lips, gasping. "P-Pretend like that never happened! Okay...? I hope Tsuki didn't see..." He resembled his brother sometimes.
"He was in the front, I felt him staring at us." He chuckled, patting your head. "It was fun performing on stage with you, we should do it again some time." After Kaito stood up, he held out a hand, helping you get back on your feet.
"(Y/N), Kaito! You guys did great out there! Even I felt all the emotion~!" The club leader said, the both of you rubbed the back of your head nervously. "Thank you... Sorry I screwed up a couple of times though..." You answered, and she shook her head. "You did better than I expected, I was actually kind of worried."
Kaito tossed his arm around your shoulder with a confident smirk on his face. "I was there so I helped her remember most of her lines, thank me." He chuckled, you pushed him away. "Not true! Sort of..."
The club leader clapped her hands, catching the attention of everyone around. "Alright, its time to bow!" The staff quickly rushed over, nearly knocking you over. You stumbled, but Kaito was there to break your fall by grabbing you arm tightly. "You alright?" He asked, and you nodded your head.
"Yes, just tripped is all..." You looked away, positioning yourself. For some reason, you couldn't see him the same anymore. Did he get more handsome?
The audience began to clap after the curtain once again opened, your ears ringing to whistling and cheering. It felt great— success did. "Um, what are you doing?" You asked, watching Kaito hold out his hand. Yui was on your left, he was on your right. "We have to hold hands and now, dumbass." He chuckled, Yui gestured for you to hurry. "Oh, right! Sorry..."
After you awkwardly took his hand, it seemed to put a blush on his face, clearing his throat. His hand was warm, but that shouldn't be a surprise. "One... two... three!~" The club leader signaled, everyone began to bow but you. Though you did after looking around crazy.
The audience giggled and chuckled continuing to applause for a while before the leader spoke. The was just thanking everyone for coming, and hoped they'd watch another play next year.
And so that concluded the play, all the seats that were filled soon were emptied, and you headed to the back with everyone else. "Aren't we heading to the classroom your brother is in?" You asked, with a bit of excitement in your voice.
Butlers are cool, good-looking sculptures handmade by god himself, who wouldn't love them? They do everything they're told to no matter what, and perfectly. The thought of seeing Kairi there was also exciting, but you didn't know why. You do know, however, he's flirting with a bunch of girls.
"You sound like you really want to go," Kaito started, his words already throwing you off. 'How does he know?' "So I don't mind going with you. But if something happens, just know that I may not be able to stay still." You had no idea what he meant, at least at the moment anyway.
"Uh, okay?" You awkwardly replied, going into the dressing room with your uniform to change.
It was a ridiculously huge smile on his face, you wondered why. After you finished changing, you walked out the auditorium, waiting for Kaito. A blonde was there to kill time as you waited. "Look what I have~" He chimed, holding up his phone.
"Wha—" You thought it was just some stupid image. But that stupid image turned out to be a picture of you and Kaito sharing a kiss, you immediately tried to grab the phone after seeing it. "Ts-Tsuki! Why do you have that?! Delete it!" You shouted, he pulled the phone up even higher. "I'll delete it if you can reach."
The smirk on his face was disgustingly cute, but you tried your best to ignore it, reaching for the phone. "Why would you take a picture of that, weirdo!"
"To tease you of course." He chuckled, Kaito finally made his appearance shortly after, stretching his arms. "Yo, what's going on?" He asked, the both of you stopped. "Tsuki took a picture of our kiss on stage... I'm trying to get him to delete it but I'm too short..." You whispered, holding your arm. Kaito's head perked up, he began to rub the back of his head.
"It's not that big of a deal, really..." He smiled, walking towards the blonde. You huffed, heading into the hallways. "Whatever... bye."
Tsukishima raised a brow, staring at your best friend. "Why are you still here?" He asked, looking he phone still being waved in the air. "Ah, I was just wondering if you could send me the photo." Kaito answered truthfully, and the other snickered.
"What picture? The one of this phone?" He mocked, launching his phone against the stoned marble floor, making a little snap. He stepped on it as well, just to be sure it was disposed. "What... the hell?!" Kaito shouted, grabbing Tsukishima by the collar. He looked to the side, shrugging his shoulders.
"My finger slipped."
