Chapter Thirty-One: Fiancée
"Hey Yui! Could you help me set up the tables? It'll be easier if someone helped..." Yui fixed her posture after stumbling to catch the bottles of water she launched in the air. You caught her staring at Tsukishima and Kaito who were setting up the grill; which was a complete accident.
"Oh, sure! But I thought you hated me... I've been so rude to you up to know, I'm surprised you even invited me to this dumb party..." She mumbled, shoving the water bottles into a cooler, walking over afterwards.
"Well there's no point in hating you forever right? Plus, I managed to convince myself to forgive this one last time. If you mess it up, then I'm never talking to you ever again." The smile that came with your energetic words gave her the creeps as she helped you toss on the white fabric over the table.
"Hey kiddos, need a hand?" Said Kairi who parked his comfortable car near the road that led up to the small lodge on mountain. "Kairi! Glad you made it, but you're too early!" You shouted, making sure the objects on the table were angled correctly.
"I'm not that early, plus I wanted to help out a bit." All of your eyes darted for the door to the passenger seat, confused as to who it was stepping out the car. A beautiful slender woman with long brown hair stepped out the vehicle, hurrying to catch up with him.
Kaito even seemed surprised by this; he lost his firm grip on the grill he was helping Tsukishima carry, and so it dropped on the blonde's foot.
"F@&K-" He began to swear as he held his foot, Kaito lost his trust.
Your hand flew over your mouth as you gasped, making a dash for the woman who accompanied Kairi. "She's so pretty! Who is this? Your coworker? I've never seen her at our school before..."
"Actually she's my new fiancée, she teaches at a college." Kairi gestured over for her to introduce herself, and so she did.
"Hello, nice to meet you all. You can call me Mina from now on." She bowed. Her voice was so gentle and sweet, it made your heart fill with warmth. Kairi chuckled after her short introduction, and placed a hand on her head. "Hope you don't mind, but I'll be announcing our marriage here, and my future plans."
"Kairi..." Said his younger brother as he gritted his teeth. He seemed to be restraining himself for some reason, but the glare you sent at him threw the whole idea out his head.
"This all seems fake to me..." Tsukishima muttered as he fondled his foot, glancing away from the couple. After hearing his comment, you killed the dramatic mood with recessive clapping, hurrying everyone to finish up.
"Everyone will be here soon, so get ready!"
Kairi insisted that his future wife look around and get to know everyone, so he could pull his younger brother off to the side. "Hey little bro! Did you like my message?" He grinned as he launched his arm around Kaito's neck.
"Screw you, go away." He harshly growled, removing his arm. Still, he leaned in, whispering in his ear. "So, when you gonna tell her? Never?" He smirked, nudging him. "Tell who what? I don't know what you're going on about." Kaito's faze shifted onto you, as you impatiently waited for your guests.
"Oh, you know exactly what I'm talking about. You're looking at her right now." Kaito began to blush just slightly, trying to keep his glance off you. "I'm supporting you bro, I'm sure she likes you." Kairi responded, patting him on the back.
He was fully aware you had feelings for Tsukishima, all he wanted was to see his expression twist into despair.
After the small talk, the model shuffled back to Mina, taking ahold of her hand. Startled by this, she held her chest, exhaling. "What did you and your brother talk about? He seems pretty flustered..." She cooed, grabbing his arm.
"I just gave him the idea to confess to our little hostess that have no interest in him." Kairi cackled quietly, coughing to clear his throat. Then, finally, everyone from your homeroom arrived one by one. "Hey, Tsuki! Could you help bring in and set up the fireworks? It's in the storage room."
"Sure." He said, standing up on his feet after his short break. "Oh, let me go with you! I'm sure you'll need a hand." Yui volunteered, quick to rush next to him. "I can't guarantee I'll need help, but alright. Just don't get in my way." He stated, walking off while pulling his headphones over his ears.
"Got it..." Moments like this was what you and Yui adored; though all you would do was walk beside him without saying a single word.
"Dammit, I forgot the key..." He mumbled after checking his pockets, turning around to walk back to the crowd of people huddled around a grill.
"Wait, Tsuki!" Yui called out, grabbing his arm. "I have the key right here, I should've gave it to you." She giggled, inserting the metal into the keyhole, twisting her wrist. "Guess you aren't useless after all." He smirked, opening the door, letting her in first.
Yui smirked as well, twirling the key. "Well, I'm too good to be a burden, honestly~" She hummed was the key danced on her fingertips. "Right." He replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
Once Yui was inside, Tsukishima gently shut the door as gently as possible since it was an old room. There were nothing but bugs, spiderwebs and dust, but Yui seemed bothered by none of it. "Okay... so I'm guessing it's this box up here? Why is it so high up..." She mumbled, grabbing a folded chair.
Tsukishima pulled off his headphones from over his ears. "Here, let me do it, I'm much taller tha—"
"Nope, I insist. You can carry it out if you want though." Carefully stepping on the unstable seat, Yui stood up on the tip of her toes as Tsukishima watched worriedly. "Hey Yui, I think you should get down, really. I don't think this is safe..."
"Calm down! I almost got it..." As her finger pulled the box closer and closer, she finally was able to reach it with both of her hands, but other boxes fell with it. The girl fortunately— I mean unfortunately lost her footing, slipping out the chair.
Tsukishima was not able to catch her, but was able to stop the cardboard boxes from hitting her. With the female pressed against the cold floor and the other guarding her, he stared down at her in shame. "Liar, you should've listened to me."
Tsukishima's scalp began to bleed; hence the reason why blood was streaming down his forehead. Yui gasped as he sat up, pulling out a handkerchief. "I'm so sorry! Does it hurt? Maybe you should go home and get some rest..." Ultimately feeling guilty, the blonde waved it off, saying it was "nothing".
"Here, let me." Carefully, she began to remove the blood dripping down his skin with her nicely cleaned handkerchief, looking at him with deep regret.
The two sat in awkward silence before Yui spoke, moving her hand away. "So... I should just give up on you shouldn't I? I can't believe I slowed myself to fall in love with a geek like you..." You huffed, clenching onto the fabric in her hand.
He was startled by the question, but answered anyway. "I guess so. You actually have no choice though, me and (Y/N) are dating, I'm not sure if it's really official though... I'm wondering if I can even tell her I love her without getting embarrassed." He sighed, ruffling his blonde locks.
"O-Oh, I see, sorry for bringing this up. Forget I ever said anything." She smiled, standing up. "Let's get going, they're all probably waiting."
Soon, Tsukishima and Yui arrived with the goods everyone was eager to release, hurrying to grab fireworks. "Where's the sparklers..." You whispered, digging deeper into the box. You still couldn't find them no matter how much you tried.
"Looking for these?" Asked Kaito, as he waved a small box of fireworks in his hand. Your eyes lit up in excitement, dusting yourself off as you stood up.
"Sparklers! How'd you know I was looking for those?" You asked, jumping with enthusiasm. "I know you like these a lot. Why don't we light some up together?"
With a nod, you followed him away from the group and closer to the edge of the hill, waiting for him to give you the firework. "Wait, wait, calm down (Y/N). It's not going anywhere, I promise." He chuckled, handing you a stick.
"Oh we should invite Tsuki and Yui over, I think we'll have more fun together." You cheesed, taking the sparkler, waiting for him to light it up.
"Let then be them, I want to spend a little alone time with you and catch up some." You turned around to see Yui conversing with him, somewhat bonding. With a sigh, you faced forward, staring at the sparkles flying off the yellow stick.
"What's wrong?"
"It's nothing..."
"You sure?"
"Mhm! Thanks for doing this with me, it's been a while since we had fun together." You smiled, crouching down. Kaito also did so beside you, breaking the temporary silence. "So, has your precious Tsuki~ realized your love for him?"
"Oh! A-About that... I think we're dating now, I forgot to tell you. But I told Kairi so I was sure he'd—"
"What?"
