Chapter Five: It's a promise.

Despite you talking off Tsukishima's ear, trying to convince him to attend the party, he never agreed. For some reason, he seemed off. But that was something to worry about for another time.

"Hey... (Y/N), sorry about earlier. I just didn't like the fact that you were hanging around some other guy you barely know." Kaito apologized, rubbing the the nape of his neck.

After the party, Kaito apologized as he walked you home. Everyone in your home room shared secrets and some actually got together, surprisingly.

"It's fine Kai, even I would've got the wrong idea. It's my fault I threw myself at him." You chuckled, breathing into your gloves. "It's super cold... But it's pretty." Your eyes shifted to the sky, snow ticking your nose. The sun was still up, and you wanted to hang out with Kaito more. But he had his own family party to attend.

"Hey, you wanna go see the Christmas light show they're holding near the mall? I heard it's really pretty! If you take me there then I'll definitely forgive you." You asked, using their little mishap from earlier as an excuse. She had no one to watch it with, everyone seemed busy.

"Hm... When is it?" Kaito asked, looking up at the sky after you did.

"It starts at 11:45, it should end around 12 o' clock. Will you be free by then?" You questioned, nearing his home. "So just meet me there by 11:40."

"Yeah, this party shouldn't last long." Kaito held out his hand, gesturing for you to hold yours out as well.

"It's a promise."

You pulled your sleeve over your mouth to let out a giggle, looking at your hand you made the promise with. "Your hand felt so much bigger..."

Apparently that embarrassed Kaito, sending a blush on his cheeks as he opened the gate. "Well I know the little things matter to you," He started, rubbing his head. "So I'll try my best and make it to you tonight."

You nodded your head, waving at him even though he was turned away. "See you Kai!~" You smiled, watching as he shut the door. Your hand fell back to your side, dragging your feet down the street.

'So, how should I kill time... Maybe the arcade, or look around the mall until it's time for the show...' You thought, pulling out your phone to check the time. A huge smile was on your face, only six more hours! I'm saying six like that's a little bit. Lol.

You then found yourself wandering around the park, watching the children play around. One kid got a dog for Christmas, how lucky were they. You took some time out your day to pet the dog, and play with it as well— After getting permission of course.

"Oh! Other one, what a coincidence! But a stray... One second! I'm gonna get you some food!" After running into another dog walking out of the park, you ran to the nearest store, buying cans of dog food.

"Why is it that I always run into you near grocery stores." Said a certain someone, his hand placed on his hip, staring at you as you ran out.

You looked left and right frantically, wondering where the voice was coming from. "Wha— Sounds like Tsuki! Maybe I'm just imagining things..."

"Look forward idiot." He sighed, shaking his head. "How does Kaito deal with you..." He muttered.

"Oh, there you are! So I'm not imagining things!" You smiled, the white grocery bag resting on your arms. You ran towards him as you pulled the bag close to your chest, tilting your head. "Don't you have a family to be spending Christmas with?" You asked.

"Yeah." He responded, looking down at you. "But they're lame so I don't want to be there. Did you have fun at the party with our home room?"

'He's so...' You couldn't even find the right words to describe him at the moment, but you nodded from his question. "Yep! Kaito had another party to go to as well, so I've been walking around this whole time. There's a d— dog!"

You rushed off to the direction of the stray dog, looking around. "Awe, I think it left..." But right when you uttered those words, you heard it bark. It was growling at Tsukishima, pulling on his jeans.

"Oi, let go of me! I don't have time for this!" You turned around to start laughing at the scene, wiping your red nose. "It likes you!"

"Don't call it a it, she's a girl." He said harshly, pulling away his leg. His eyes seemed focused on you, more like your smile. "Oh really? I didn't know what her gender was..." Crouching down, you sat the plastic bag on the cold concrete, digging into the bag to pull out cans.

You then pulled tab to the lid, opening it. Soon enough, the dog came running over, eating the dog food. "I hope she finds a good owner..." You whispered, sitting up. "Oh, I've got an idea! Why don't you keep the dog?" You asked, watching Tsukishima cross his arms.

"Hell no. I'm not good with dogs, and she obviously doesn't like me." He answered, looking away. "Why don't you take care of her?"

"Well for one, the neighbors have that barking dog, and that could be a problem. And two, my mom won't let me have any animals." You said, walking off.

Tsukishima glanced down at the dog eating before walking off, following you. "Where are you going now?"

"I dunno, I just wanna have fun." You said, humming a melody as you two walked. "Kaito and I promised that we'd go see that Christmas light show near the mall, so I just want to kill time until then."

"I know a couple places we could go." The male with glasses had a smirk on his face, grabbing your hand. Something in him just lit up as he dragged you off.

Tsukishima took you skating, which was embarrassing since you kept falling a lot. All he did was show you up, looking like a professional. But that didn't stop you from trying.

"I-I can do that too!" You stuttered, afraid to let go of the wall. Thank god it was only a few people there. Eventually you gathered enough courage to let go, your legs trembling as you did so. "1... 2–"

Before you could get to three your legs had a gap between them, trying to close it. But that plan backfired, which is why you stumbled.

'I don't wanna hurt my face again!' Right before you fell, Tsukishima was chuckling with you and his arms. Your eyes were closed, ready for impact, but he was there to break your fall.

"I'm... Not dead?" You mumbled, looking up at Tsukishima. He was unimaginably close to your face, your face blowing up in red.

"You wanted to die? On Christmas at a place like this?" He teased, lifting you back on your feet. "No I don't idiot! I thought I was though, landing on ice face first is kinda..."

"Yeah, I know." He grinned, continuing to go back to skating. All you did was watch, and occasionally shuffle your feet in attempt to skate.

You both went to do some karaoke afterwards, though Tsukishima didn't pick up the mic not once. He wasn't confident in his singing, which is why he listened to you the whole time. Once that was over, you both went out to some food stands near the mall, eating before the show.

"Are you gonna stay and watch the show with me and Kaito? He should be here soon."

"Maybe, maybe not. I don't want to ruin anything again and he get the wrong idea." He said, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "He should hurry up though, it'll be starting soon."

"He'll be here, he made a promise." You said with a smile, then looking at him. "It's late, so if you're planning on leaving then you should get going."

"Hm? Why would you say that?" He asked, raising a brow in curiosity. "But then again, that doesn't really matter. I'm not leaving until that Kaito guy shows up."

"Oh, how dependable." You mocked, looking up at the dull Christmas tree and presents. Tsukishima looked at you with incoherent eyes, then looked down at the bag he was carrying. You didn't question why he had it, just let it be.

But once he glanced back at you, his eyes widened from shock. Running down your cheeks was tears, but you were still smiling.

"Kaito... Where are you..."

After those words shook out of your mouth, the blonde pulling you into a deep embrace, you face buried into his chest. He didn't say a word, but the hug made you cry even more, your hands clenching to his jacket.

"Hey, (Y/N)! I'm sorry I'm..."

The male's eyes were focused on the two, gritting his teeth after his words.

"Late..."
