Chapter Three

"The door opened and Cameron stood at ready. "Let's go," she nodded, her face filled with determination. Before she could make one dirty shoe print on her back porch steps, Jacklyn pushed her inside. Cameron stumbled backward but managed to catch herself as she grabbed onto a nearby chair. Jacklyn quickly shut the door and ran her hands through her hair with a sudden realization. Cameron corrected her stance and frowned. "Okay, what was that about? I just said 'let's go'," She crossed her arms, clearly upset about the abrupt manhandling. Jacklyn let her hands fall from her hair and gave her a small look.

"We forgot," She grumbled. Cameron blinked. Jacklyn usually forgot many things but when she gave the 'you should have stopped me and known this' look, then it was serious.

"What'd we forget? Umbrellas?" She asked. It was raining out, was she freaking out over that? Jacklyn didn't normally care too much about that. Cameron did, though. Was she thinking of her and her beautiful blonde hair getting frizzy? Aw, Cameron snickered to herself, She does care about me.

"No, the Laserbeaks are swarming. We can't just leave without getting caught." Jacklyn pointed out. Cameron snorted. Saw that coming, she thought then she shrugged.

"You didn't get caught. How bad could it be?" Jacklyn glared in response.

"Thanks for the confidence," Cameron flashed her a smile of 'anytime' before she continued. "And sure, I can make it over one house but think about it. A neighborhood?" She expressed. "We're as good as dead. Maybe we should try talking to the Autobots in the morning." Jacklyn sunk into her dining room chair and Cameron rose an eyebrow.

"And that's any better?" Cameron retorted. Jacklyn huffed. Cameron rolled her eyes and sat next to her. "Look, we'll get caught talking to them in there. Do you realize that this is the most prized possession the Decepticons have? It's not going to be easy. And look at us! We're seniors! What do expect we could do?" Cameron told her friend. Jacklyn lowered her gaze.

"You were for it a few minutes ago," Jacklyn mumbled like a pouting child. Cameron only knew it was because she was scared and trying to get help to get her brain working right.

"I am. I want these tin cans to get what they deserve but hey," Cameron told her. Jacklyn lifted her head. "I just don't want us to die. If this is what we're doing we need this to work and we need to be super careful. They're far more advanced than us." Cameron pointed out. Jacklyn took a  breath and began nodding.

"You're right. So we need a plan?" Jacklyn began as she started to think. Cameron smirked and leaned back in her seat. Cameron knew when Jacklyn started to ask rhetorical questions (or dumb questions) that are when the gears in her head started to turn. Jacklyn tapped the table with her finger before staring at her silently. Cameron shifted but knew she was only spacing out. Didn't make her more comfortable, though. Finally, Jacklyn slapped her hand on the table.

"We need to get a floor plan of where every camera is and how far they can see in the frame. We also need to make sure if they're sensors we locate them so we don't trip an alarm. That's before any talking to the Autobots."

"Okay well if we're doing that then when? And how?" Jacklyn smirked.

"School starts at nine o' clock, correct?" Cameron sighed.

"Yes, what's your point?" Cameron asked, perplexed by her friend's riddles. Sometimes she wondered why she let Jacklyn read so much because Cameron was so far behind with her.

"That's plenty of time to go to the exhibit." Jacklyn shrugged.

"So you're saying before nine is when we head out? Fantastic," Cameron grumbled clearly displeased about waking up earlier than she already had to. "Are you even sure they'll be open? And how do you know we're allowed? Curfew ends at eight in the morn'." Cameron rose an eyebrow.

"That's what I thought but then again the Decepticons are really proud about humiliating the Autobots. They're not going to care about curfew. And I'm not sure when they'll open but that's when we have to rely on luck."

"Luck!? Do you realize we can die!" Cameron shouted. A loud shushing noise came from behind them.

"I just put your sister and brother to bed," Cameron's father approached. Cameron frowned.

"Sorry, dad." He merely smiled.

"What are you girls up to? Aren't you supposed to be at your house, Jacklyn? It's after curfew." He asked, brushing the incident before off. Jacklyn bit her lip as she looked at Cameron. Cameron shrugged lightly.

"She forgot some schools papers from me."

"Actually Mr. Earl, we we're thinking about going to the Autobot exhibit, do you know when it opens?" Jacklyn asked smoothly. Cameron snapped a glare at her. 'What are you doing!?' The look was given and Jacklyn shrugged at her.

"Hmm, good question. I heard folks say it opened at six and closed at seven thirty. When do you plan on going?" He asked leaning on Cameron's chair.

"Tomorrow," Jacklyn answered before Cameron. He nodded.

"Well have fun and don't get caught going back to your house." He told her gently. Jacklyn flashed a smile and nodded. Cameron glared at Jacklyn as her father walked away. Jacklyn rose an eyebrow.

"What?"

"You're unbelievable you bookworm." Cameron snorted. Jacklyn rolled her eyes.

"Well getting back to the task at hand, now that we know when it opens we just go at six and steal a floorplan and take pictures."

"Are you serious?" Cameron rolled her eyes.

"What now?" Jacklyn frowned.

"You're still missing how we're going to steal a floorplan. They're not going to leave it out in the open." Cameron leaned forward in her seat.

"I know. Once we go inside I'll figure it out."

"Oh, you're just going to find it like that? As soon as you walk in?" Cameron sarcastically said. Jacklyn sighed.

"The Decepticons are pretty predictable. Just trust me." Jacklyn's expression dropped, feeling slightly betrayed at her friend's doubt. She brushed it off as quick as it came, though. Jacklyn knew her friend was worried.

"Alright fine. But don't make a crappy plan when we're in there." Cameron pointed a finger at her. Jacklyn laughed.

"Have I made crappy plans before?"

"Sometimes," Cameron smirked, challenging her.

"Oh really now?" Jacklyn asked taking her challenge.

"Oh yeah. That Aprils fools prank. Remember how I wanted to prank my ex and you practically got us caught." Cameron laughed raising an eyebrow.

"That doesn't even count!" Jacklyn shook her head.

"Yes, it does! It was your plan."

"It was but it Aprils fools. Prank plans don't count." Jacklyn grinned. "Cause what's the fun if you don't get caught?" The two friends laughed and stood from their chairs.

"Whatever, you know I'm right." Cameron huffed in defeat but smiled. Jacklyn smiled.

"Alright, well, so six then?"

"Six it is. I'll meet you at the back of your house." Cameron crossed her arms. Jacklyn nodded.

"Sounds good. I'll meet you then. Goodnight," She told her and opened her back door. Cameron held it open and watched her friend scamper down the steps.

"Goodnight," She said softly. Jacklyn pulled her hoodie over her head and began running back to her house, looking around to she if anyone saw her. Cameron shut the door and Jacklyn was left in complete darkness and rain. As she treaded back into her house she never noticed the gleaming red optics observing her.
