Chapter Six

The first thing that entered the girl's ears was the screaming and cheers. Jacklyn almost mistook the place as a football stadium or a pep rally at her school.

"Where is that noise coming from?" Jacklyn almost had to shout over the noise. The vechicon laughed and pointed to nearby bleachers.

"Take a sit and enjoy the show." He smirked. Cameron frowned and did as instructed. They didnt really understand what he meant by show seeing as a large block wall curved towards them so they couldn't see. Jacklyn followed close behind anyway and they rounded the corner and saw the bleachers were empty. Cameron looked up and saw a soundbooth where another vechicon sat. Cameron elbowed Jacklyn as they climbed up the stairs.

"Look, they're making the sounds of people." She noticed. Jacklyn looked up and rose an eyebrow but nodded in acknowledgment. They took their seats in almost the middle row. Before them was a large glass window. From their hieght they could see the ground was hard concrete and energon was splattered on the floor. Jacklyn averted her gaze to the bottom of the bleachers on the far right and saw a small concession stand. She furrowed her eyebrows. Cameron nudged her again.

"Jacklyn...look..." she whispered. Jacklyn looked away and back at the large dome and turned to where Cameron's finger was pointing. Her eyes widened.

"Is that...Sideswipe?" She asked. She hadn't really got familar with all the Autobots like Cameron had but having seen the large name above the doors she would assume it was him. She leaned forward with squinting eyes. "I thought he was outside though."

"That's his holoform. He must get twice the pain," Cameron said. She then frowned. "But why would he get it when you would think Optimus would?" She asked in confusion. Jacklyn hummed.

"Must have done something during the war the Cons felt he needed to pay for." She said quietly that Cameron struggled through the fake crowds cheering to hear. Cameron studied the red mech and saw his wrists were chained to the floor. He sat on his legs as he stared at the floor. His back was hunched over. Cameron almost swore she saw him talking with his optics closed.

Jacklyn looked more at the dome and saw multiple tunnels with bars as the doors around the dome. Jacklyn blinked.

"Cameron," She said as she started to piece it together.

"Yeah?" She asked as she watched the mech as he leaned forward and placed his helm to the floor gently. His arms out stretching in a diamond shape. His palms were flat against the concrete floor. She wondered if that's his way of praying.

"Does this remind you of the Romans Coliseum a little bit?"

"The what?" She frowned as she looked at her friend. Jacklyn shook her helm almost denying that is what she was being reminded of.

"I read it in one of the older books at school. They don't teach it anymore but I was going through the library and reading about the Romans. They had a dome like place and they had gladiators fight for entertainment. I...I think this is what this is." Jacklyn said as she then began to bite her lip.

"Why would they do that!?" Cameron frowned with furrowed eyebrows. Her body twisted to face her friend at the sudden fact.

"It was during the time of peace for the Romans. They wanted entertainment so they built the Coliseum. They had many different types of events there." Jacklyn explained. Cameron rubbed her forehead with her fingers.

"So your telling me Sides here is going to fight for the cons entertainment?"

"No," She shook her head as she remembered the simulation with Bluestreak. He hadn't known when things started and they used real gasses against them which was very scary. "I believe he's fighting for his life." Cameron then turned to Sideswipe with shocked eyes. He was still in the same position.

"I think he knows that..." a loud beeping noise echoed throughout the room and the girls flinched. Sideswipe sat up abruptly with a sharp gaze of concentration.

"Welcome guests!" Sideswipe turned his attention to the glass and Jacklyn wondered if he could see them or if they blocked the window off. "Today your are here to witness the Autobot fight with nothing but himself! Do you think he's going to survive?" The annoyed challenged. "This Autobot is known as one of the many great warriors when he's with his big brother in the ring," the voice continued mockingly. "Let's see how strong he is without his brother to protect him. Round One!" The beeping noise came again and Sideswipe stood quickly. The chains clinked against the floor as they unfolded against one another. Cameron saw the chain wasn't very long. The girls felt dread sink into their stomachs as one of the tunnels opened releasing two large bots. They seemed to be vechicons but built for battles as they wore large heavy weapons on them. Cameron now understood. He must have been praying to his races God and maybe even reaching out to his brother. He was alone...

Sideswipe clenched his fists tightly before relaxing them. His legs moved into a defensive stance seeing as he was limited. The blue vechicon laughed and took out his large gun and set it to his hip as he aimed. Sideswipe stayed still as he waited. Jacklyn watched with confusion. Cameron growled in frustration.

"That isn't fair! He's defenseless and their full of weapons!" Cameron snapped. "I don't know what kind of gladiator ring they have on their planet but this so unfair!" She shouted. Jacklyn grabbed her friend and pulled her back as she was leaning forward.

"Shh, you want to be cheering." She hushed.

"Excuse me?" Cameron asked with raised eyebrows.

"In Rome if the fight wasn't  entertaining enough for the crowd they'd make it more gory and challenging for the gladiator by bringing in a lion or something," Jacklyn informed her friend. "Even though we're hating what we're seeing we need to encourage him. Every time he succeeds in a hit or block we can cheer."

"And if he gets hit?" Cameron frowned deeply. Jacklyn held a finger to her lips. "But this isn't Rome and they clearly have their own rules."

"This is very close and this is supposed to be torture for him so of course they'd bend the rules. Besides, do you really want to take the chance I'm wrong?" She asked. Cameron sighed with a shake of her head.

"I can't believe this," She muttered as she watch the fight. The vechicon had fully charged his gun and shot. Sideswipe hit the deck into a pushup position and the front of his body merely few centimeters above the ground. His chest almost touching the concrete. The shot missing him and hitting the wall behind him. His servos and edge of his pedes holding him up as he slowly raised his helm to look ahead. Jacklyn cheered and Cameron blinked, impressed.

The purple vechicon growled, very unhappy by that reaction. He took out a large hammer from his back and got into an offensive position. The blue one charging his gun. Sideswipes helm flickered back and forth between the two. He got into a full plank position and curled his legs underneath him. He stayed crouched as he waited and anticipated. The purple mech charged and Sideswipe took his palms off the ground. The vechicon swang his hammer and Sideswipe pushed back and jumped onto his servos behind him. He jumped back to his pedes as he stood. The vechicon swang the hammer again to his helm and Sideswipe leaned back enough for it to miss. Sideswipe tugged at his chains to reach up and fight back but the chains stopped him. The purple vechicon laughed and sent the hammer horizontally downward to his helm. Sideswipe moved back and kicked the hammer as it was going down and it forced the vechicons elbows to fold in and have him stumble backwards. The wieght of the hammer overwhelmed him and made him fall onto his back.

The blue mech shot and Sideswipe having seen it coming long before jumped to a side lunge. The blast going by his helm and hitting the wall again. Cameron stood with claps. Sideswipe went back to his nuetral standing position again the purple mech slowly picked himself off the floor. He threw the hammer and Sideswipe easily ducked. The purple shouted in his language in frustration before running forward to charge again. Sideswipe knelt and grabbed the mechs legs and flipped him over his helm. The mech crashed to the floor and groaned. The blue mech shot again and he ducked to the other side so it hit the other vechicon. The purple mech groaned louder and tried to get up but energon was leaking so fast he was fading quick. The blue mech saw the gun was not doing anything in his favor and threw it to the ground, abandoning it. Sideswipe struggled to reach for the hammer behind him so he could fight with something. The blue vechicon took out his brass knuckles and punched his fists together with anxiousness. Sideswipe looked over, hearing the sound. He then hurried himself to grab the weapon. The blue mech began charging and Jacklyn grabbed his friends arm in worry for the red mech.

Sideswipe struggled to reach for the weapon and the blue mech swung a fist making Sideswipe lose his balance as he ducked. Sideswipe fell back to his aft and looked up with wide optics. The blue mech chuckled and swung another fist. Sideswipe avoided it best he could and threw himself to the right where the hammer was. He grabbed the handle and began to pull it towards him. The blue mech crouched to his side and grabbed his helm and began slamming it into the floor. Jacklyn choked on her breath.

"Oh no..." she whispered as she covered her eyes. Cameron watched with hope he would recover.

Sideswipe didn't fight back but continue to pull the hammer towards him as the side of his helm was slammed continously into the concrete floor. The blue mech was enjoying the energon falling out of the mechs helm so much he didn't notice the large hammer swung his way. The hammer collide with his face and it made him fall back. He landed on his back with a bleeding face. Sideswipe got to his knees and reached forward to grab the hammer again. The mech reached up and grabbed his servo and twisted it awkwardly to the left to make his shoulder bulge out. Jacklyn uncovered her eyes and winced.

Sideswipe ground his denta as he fought the pain. The blue mech smirked. Sideswipe tried to swing his other servo forward to fight but the chain limited from doing so. Sideswipe fell to his bottom sending his shoulder out of place as he tried to swing his leg forward, kicking the mechs helm. The mech let go and fell to the side and hit his helm into the floor knocking him out. Sideswipe hissed as he put it back into place and rolled his shoulder. He then reached up and wiped the energon off his audio where he was slammed into the ground. Sideswipe blinked as he now began to feel the pain as the adrenaline began to wear off.

Jacklyn removed her hands with a sigh of relief. "He's okay..." she breathed.

"How many rounds are there?" Cameron asked as the beeping noise came again. Another door opened and four mechs came out. They all were black and white as they began heading towards the unconscious mechs. They grabbed them and began dragging them off. A yellow vechicon entered and Sideswipe flinched. He strode towards Sideswipe and pointed a finger at him as he shouted. He then pointed to the hammer to the side and Sideswipe looked away. The yellow mech grabbed his face and shoved it back to him and spoke more harshly as he spoke in his language. Cameron frowned.

"What do you think he's talking about?"

"Probably how he used the hammer. I don't think he was supposed to use it." Jacklyn whispered as the crowds noise began to go off. Cameron nodded slowly.

"Oh," She said as she watched the bots. Sideswipe nodded weakly to the yellow mech and the yellow mech then slapped him sending Sideswipe to the ground. The yellow mech then pointed again at him and his expression turned dark. Sideswipe looked at him slowly with a nod. The yellow mech swiftly whirled on his pede before leaving the arena. Sideswipe sat back on his knees and leaned forward placing his arms forward and his helm touching the ground. Cameron noticed a small tear slip from his optic before he did so. The vechicon that led them inside then whistled.

"Aye! Get down here!" He ordered. The girls stood and began treading down the stairs. Jacklyn looked up.

"Was that it?"

"Oh no," The vechicon then laughed. "There's 3 more rounds but you're not going to see them." He said.

"Why not?" Cameron asked with a raised eyebrow. She placed her hands on her hips but the vechicon ignored her defensive pose.

"Well you could but we have a tour to get one with. Let's go," he said and waved a servo. The girls followed him out the door and to the room. Jazz met Cameron's gaze again but she looked away as she placed her hands into her hoodie pocket. Jacklyn bit her lip in concern for the red mech as they continued on.
