Chapter Five
The two girls followed the large vechicon into the right room first. There, just as the said read, was two large simulation rooms next to Prowl and Jazz. Cameron leaned over to Jacklyn.
"So about that plan?"
"It's forming but I think it is a good idea to everything. That way we can locate cameras that are in our sights."
"Fun...whatcha think those simulations rooms have in there?" Cameron asked quietly.
"I'm not sure..." Jacklyn whispered, her eyes traveling up to Prowl and Jazz. The vechicon laughed at seeing Jazz. His music was blaring at the side of his helm, his faceplate scrunched up. Cameron wondered if he was deaf in that audio yet.
"Dance for me!" The vechicon cackled and Jazz blinked before realizing what he said. Jacklyn assumed he was reading his lips and processing what the vechicon demanded. Jazz reluctantly nodded before dancing. Even though Cameron saw the swagger in the moves, it looked plain silly. Prowl, that was the bot to his side, was glancing at him every so often with a soft expression of sympathy. When Jazz landed in a pose, cueing that he was finished, he looked to Prowl, almost giving him a reassuring nod. It was so quick and soft that the vechicon didn't notice. The vechicon then snapped his digits, grabbing the Praxians attention.
"Aren't you supposed to be saying something Prowl?" The vechicon asked. Prowl's doorwings twitched and his optics looked unsure. Jazz's helm turned slightly so he could glance at Prowl. Prowl nodded humbly, accepting his fate.
"Yes sir," He looked down at the two humans and forced a smile. Jazz grimaced. "Would you two humans like to learn how the Decepticons won the war and how the Autobots didn't use their dumb processors cause they care too much about you filthy humans?" Forced excitement was expressed onto his faceplate. Jacklyn cringed. Prowl looked regretful behind his optics but he kept his excitement written on his face.
"They'd love to," The vechicon smirked. Cameron shot a glare to the vechicon but he didn't see it. Prowl hesitated before pulling up a holographic picture. It was of Optimus surrendering to Megatron who wore a sly grin. Optimus had both knees on the ground and his servos were clasped together. Jacklyn saw his worried look of begging. Jacklyn narrowed her eyes as she looked closer. The cons would like you to think he was surrendering but he...Jacklyn's eyes widened. He was giving himself up, wasn't he?
"Mega-." Prowl looked to the vechicon before correcting himself. "Lord Megatron successfully managed to distract the Autobots by placing an attack on human government buildings using holoforms. Autobots foolishly fell for the bait. They used half their resources and eventually, their reserves became exhausted. Before the Autobots could have the opportunity to assume new defensive positions once they realized the Decepticon's true intentions, the Decepticons used their true forces. The Decepticons began cutting off communication as Starscream erupted an EMP throughout the air. The Autobots scattered and morale was high. They attempted to hide until they could regroup, however; Soundwave managed to capture an Autobot. The Autobots then were captured one by one and their bolts for brains of a leader surrendered in exchange for his teammates. Mercy did not come his way and the Autobots remained captured. The Decepticons had won." Prowl felt his optics shutter. Jacklyn was frowning deeply. Cameron tugged onto her hoodie.
"No..." Cameron whispered, shaking her head in denial.
"Which...Which Autobot?" Jacklyn asked gently. Prowl looked to her. His doorwings dropped down and plastered themselves against his back in guilt and shame.
"A cowardly Autobot that couldn't think fast enough for the sake of his team. An Autobot that couldn't come up with a plan to defeat..." His optics then turned to the vechicon. The vechicon was watching him quietly, a flash of a glare sent his way in warning. "...to defeat the glorious Decepticons. Not that it would happen anyway. It was a 98.9934% successful outcome for the Decepticons." Prowl nodded. Jacklyn furrowed her eyebrows. The vechicon crossed his arms, satisfied.
"Alright insects, let's move on to the simulation rooms." The vechicon swiftly turned and went toward Bluestreak's simulation room. Jacklyn stared up at Prowl and looked to Jazz who helplessly stood by. They weren't doing anything. Jazz was staring at his friend wanting to say something but resisted. They both just looked to the simulation room. Jacklyn went after the vechicon but Cameron could only look at them with sympathy. Jazz leaned down slightly. His visor was staring off at a wall and Cameron blinked before looking behind her and seeing a camera now turning to view Optimus in the other room.
"Check on meh Blue mechlin' for meh." He whispered lowly, not trusting much of his voice with music blasting into an audio receptor. Cameron took a second to realize what he said before nodding. Jazz went back to his position and Cameron ran after them. The vechicon opened the doors and the two stepped through. Immediately they began blinking their eyes. The small room was dark and a door was just a few feet from them. Gas Masks hung on wall hooks.
"Grab one." He ordered. Jacklyn nodded slowly and grabbed one with a shaking hand. Cameron did as well and looked to Jacklyn as she placed it on.
"What is this?" Jacklyn asked placing it on.
"The articles online didn't say...but whatever it is, make sure your gas mask stays on," Cameron told her worriedly. They exchanged a terrified glance before the vechicon opened the door. His foot nudged them in and they stumbled inside the large room. The door slammed shut and the two girls jumped. The room was very foggy and it was hard to see anything. Jacklyn reached out and grabbed her friend's hand. There were faint crying and small mutters of, "Get it together!" The two looked at each other before running toward the sound. Their shoes made squeaking noises as they ran. Jacklyn took out her flashlight and turned it on but it did no good so she turned it back off and placed it away.
"W-Who's th-th-here!?" An unfamiliar voice shouted in a panicky tone. The two girls found themselves almost face first to a large gray leg.
"Are you Blue!?" Cameron shouted. The leg shifted and a creaking noise of gears clogged their ears next. A face full of tears and frantic optics filled their sight.
"Y-yeah. Bluestreak. Is the building open already?" His voice became more relaxed as he calmed down at the sight of them.
"It opened not too long ago. They didn't tell you?" Cameron asked. He shook his helm.
"No. They don't tell me anything." He whispered, a small whimper escaping him. "Are those masks on tight?" He asked with furrowed optic ridges. They nodded.
"We're pretty sure. Why? What's going on?" Jacklyn asked. Bluestreak heaved a heavy sigh.
"It's Praxus." He looked away as he sat on the ground. Cameron frowned behind her mask.
"What do you mean it's Praxus?" Jacklyn questioned with a small tilt of her head. Sirens began to ring out throughout the room.
"It means they're bombing this place and using gasses in here," Bluestreak told them. Cameron and Jacklyn rose their eyebrows in surprise.
"What!?!?" Cameron shrieked and Jacklyn gripped her friend's hand tighter.
"Yeah, we need to hide," Bluestreak said offering a servo. They wasted no time climbing on.
"How come you don't need a gas mask?" Jacklyn asked worriedly.
"Becuase it doesn't affect my intakes like organics," Bluestreak explained shortly as he stood and began running to a wall. His helm kept twisting around as he looked around. "Frag I can't see slag in here!" He whined. The sharp eyes of a sniper are covered, Cameron thought. "You never know when they're gonna blow something up! Sure, this spot right here doesn't hurt as bad but can't they take it easy? They're going a little overboard! Well sure they can, I mean they're Decepticons they can do whatever they want but I'm getting so scared sometimes in here!" Tears began to swell up in the mech's optics. Cameron felt her heart ache for him.
"Hey," Jacklyn spoke up and touched her hand on his shoulder. She swallowed the lump in her throat when he looked at her, his optics looking for any hope. His traumatized helm whirling as his doorwings trembled. "We'll help you get through all of this. Right, Cameron?" She looked at her friend. Cameron slowly nodded.
"Thanks...uh, what are your names?" He asked. Before they could respond a blast was sent by their side. They screeched and Bluestreak cursed before running through the room. Cameron held tightly onto his fingers and narrowed her eyes as a green light shined in her eyes for a moment. She frowned in confusion. As he settled down in another spot they could feel him shaking through his servo.
"How do you know where to go through here?" Jacklyn asked.
"I don't. I just remembered where the walls were. I use them for as much cover as I can." An orange smoke began to fill the room and Bluestreak looked to the humans worriedly. The two humans began scattering back slowly in fright. Bluestreak winced.
"Are you sure it won't hurt you?" Jacklyn asked. Bluestreak nodded.
"The most it does is rust my insides faster but I'll be okay." He reassured. His optics watered again. "Are you sure they're on tight?" He whispered as the smoke got closer.
"Yeah, I hope! He didn't check!" Cameron yelped. Bluestreak let them slide off his servo close to the ground before he transformed. The Datsun's door clicked open.
"Get in, I don't want you to die in my servos." He told them quickly. The two entered without complaint and he shut the door. Cameron crawled onto the passenger side as the orange smoke engulfed the car. Jacklyn fixed her position in the driver's seat and watched it surround them.
"I can't believe you have to relive this," Cameron whispered.
"How'd you-." He began.
"I read online about you guys and this place." She sighed. "No wonder Jazz told me to check up on you."
"Jazz told you to do that?" Bluestreak asked in surprise and Jacklyn even looked at her in confusion.
"When did he do that?"
"When you were walking away."
"How are Prowl and Jazz doing?" Bluestreak inquired, his voice quivering.
"Suffering. Like you are." Cameron sighed. Bluestreak sank on his tires. The smoke began to drift away and clear off.
"Seems like the smoke is going away," Jacklyn spoke up, changing the subject. Cameron nodded.
"Looks that way, let's get out of here." He opened his doors and the two got out. Bluestreak transformed once they got a safe distance away.
"Thank you, Bluestreak." Jacklyn smiled. "I think you're stronger than you think you are." She crossed her arms. Bluestreak rubbed his helm.
"Thanks but...I think I'm just getting the hang of it in here a little. It's been two days of hours doing this," He shrugged. "It's...overwhelming at times, though."
"I'm sure. Just breathe and do your best." Cameron said and placed a reassuring hand on his leg. He smiled at her and nodded. The speaker clipped on and the sirens stopped.
"Congratulations, Bluestreak. You survived. Again. Yipee. And I guess yay to the humans too. Go back to the human door and take off the masks once entered." The voice ordered as the smoke was starting to get contained. Vents were kicked on and Jacklyn sighed.
"Well, it was nice seeing you, Bluestreak. We'll be back." She said before heading off to the door with Cameron as the room became clearer to see through. Bluestreak nodded slowly before frowning.
"What do you mean you'll be back?" He called. the door shut in response. Bluestreak stepped back and frowned before smiling slightly. "I never caught their names." He said, wondering why they'd help him in the first place.
...
Jacklyn and Cameron left the room and the vechicon was waiting. "Was that something or what?" He grinned.
"It was something alright..." Cameron snorted. Her eyes looked over to where Jazz and Prowl stood. Jazz looked at her and she frowned and shook her head. Jazz frowned but nodded in acknowledgment.
"Well if you didn't like that then you're definitely going to like this one! This one is all about the entertainment." He smirked. Jacklyn looked at Cameron worriedly who shrugged.
"Are we in the simulation this time?" Jacklyn asked.
"No, you're watching it." The vechicon informed. Jacklyn nodded slowly.
"Watching what?" Cameron asked. The vechicon laughed.
"Not what. Who." He corrected with a grin as he turned to the simulation room. Cameron paled as she read SIDESWIPE across the top of the door. Jacklyn gulped as she looked ta her friend.
"This can't be good can it?" Jacklyn asked. Cameron only shook her head and followed the vechicon slowly. Jacklyn frowned but jogged back to her side.
