Unexpected events...
I was dreaming about being in the world dirt bike championship when I smelled a heavenly scent. A mixture between pumpkin spiced muffins, and lemon pound cake......with a slight hint of... bacon? Yes bacon, I think. I open my eyes ending my dream, I feel stiff. "That's because you spent the whole night on the floor." I say aloud. I turn to see Dash laying asleep next to me, 'looks like you're not the only one.' And just now realize I probably used his arm as a pillow last night. "He's going to be feeling that when he wakes up." I announce out loud, as I get to my feet to start my day.
First, I head to brush my teeth then turn on the bedroom's bathroom shower, I pull out some of dash's clothing. One of his beige cargo shorts, an oversized white T-shirt that says, "I tried to make myself ugly cause I was bored... it didn't work." I grab my always ready underwear pack, my mom forced me to get, because she said "Sharing clothes is bad enough, but you will not be sharing underwear too! It's unhygienic!" So yeah. Then I grab a sponge and head to the shower. Fifteen minutes later I'm out of the shower in my white towel and Dash is on his bed on his phone. Fully dressed, and clean. Something tells me he used his parent's bathroom shower. "Morning donkey butt." Dash says without even looking at me. And I stick out my tongue at him then go back in the bathroom and get dressed.
When I come out again Dash is leaning back against the door post, trying to look cool without trying hard. It might've worked if I didn't know him so well. Me and him head down to breakfast where I discover pumpkin spiced muffins, lemon tea, and bacon. And Dash's grandma seated at the kitchen table.
"Good morning Mrs. bloom. Thanks for making breakfast." I state as I make my way to the breakfast table. Mrs. Bloom is Dash's grandma from his mother's side. "No problem child. Love nothing more than my grandson my daughter, and cooking. And call me grandma." She replies. "Yes ma'am." Dash heads over to where his grandma is sitting and hugs her with a genuine expression of fondness.
Every time she visits it's like she brings out something different in Dash. I eagerly begin shoving my mouth with the food that was prepared. Dash races me and I finish first as per usual. And I know all is right with the world once again. Because we experienced a very traumatic moment our parents are letting stay from school for a few days.
First thing after breakfast me and dash head to the skate park. Dash isn't allowed to do anything on a skateboard while his wrist is healing but me and him go to the park to at least be able to watch some of action even if we can't be in on it. And if Dash isn't allowed to skate then I'm not either.
Me and Dash watch for a while commenting on some of the stunts, encouraging the people that mess up and make bets with each other with the money we don't have. "I bet you six dollars the guy with Moe-hawk is going to do a high-rail jump and succeed." I challenge. "You're on." Two minutes later Dash is coughing up the invisible dough. And then wins it all back and then some with two other bets.
It is now 1:00 pm me and Dash are hungry, Dash's parents gave us money for lunch before we left. Telling us "You're to ONLY use it for lunch no allowance for two months, remember?" And they threatened to separate us for four days if we didn't follow these directions so even though Dash hounded me about it, I used the money only for what they gave us it for. We ate Chinese for lunch, a personal treat for us, it being our favorite. Then bought a very large chocolate chip cookie to share. I pocket the rest of the cash fully intending to make sure it got back to Mrs. and Mr. Felix.
Dash and me head to our neighborhood park and sit and eat the cookie sitting on our favorite bench. When we're finish eating, I pull my cap to the front and pull it down over my eyes, slouch in my seat and lean against dash, "Hey Roy, wake me up in fifteen minutes okay?" I ask sleepily. "Sure."
If I had to describe how dash looks I'd say, glittering tan toned skin, jet black hair styled in a slightly longer than medium length side fringe. With his classic diamond studs, that compliment his eyes with long dark lashes. His style ranges from motorcycle bad boy to beige cargo shorts and T-shirts. He stands 5'6 at sixteen years of age, and a wicked smile that is so tempting with soft shiny lips because he has an obsession with cherry chapstick, (and he wishes there was a lemon flavor. I told him there probably is.) and a smile that says I'm sexy and you know it. We live in a small neighborhood on the outer edge of New jersey.
If I had to describe myself, I'd say, I am average height standing at 5'5, with red laced black hair usually styled in a pixie cut up until last year, occasionally wearing the only pieces of jewelry I own, two black chokers one with a skull bead center piece, a pair of skull studs to match the choker, and one pair of big flashy gold hoops earrings. I have a creamy peach colored skin, with a dark peach tint in my cheeks. My face has a very round shape and Asian shaped eyes. You can thank my mom and her grandmother for that. My mom is Korean. And I dress mostly like Dash, a few personal touches, like my cap, and sometimes I like to wear shorts over my leggings. You know, to switch it up a little. So yeah, that's me. And that's Dash.
"Hey sleepy head, it's been fifteen minutes." Dash's words pierce through my sleep. I sit up, rubbing my eyes while I yawn. "Thanks Dash. I needed that, who knew sleeping for hours in a hospital room would make you so tired" I joke. Dash breaks out into a chuckle and ruffles my hair. I laugh too. Me and Dash get up off the bench and make our way home so he can make sure I do my homework just like he promised to my mom.
"So I'm guessing you had a good sleep?" He asks, "Yeah I did, actually." I respond. " I bet you did. You sounded like a clogged sewer pipe. And you'd have to be knocked out not to hear that." Dash starts snoring really loud, I give him a good hard shove in his side. "Okay genius, like you don't sound like a lovesick otter when you sleep." ' Aaron! Aaron, please! Please come back I need you!' I burst out laughing. Dash face gets slightly brighter through his dark features, and he doesn't reply. "Oh, c'mon I was just kidding dude. You only did that like once. It's not a big deal." But he didn't say anything the rest of the way home. Somehow, I get the feeling that to him it was a big deal.
Me and him open up the front door of my house and head to the living room. Mom and dad aren't home. That means mom must be at a book club meeting held at someone else's house, and dad is still at work.
The whole time Dash and I do homework and practice Korean he doesn't grill me, or shout like a general of an army at me like he usually does since he's been helping me. And something tells me it has to do with my earlier joke. "Why does it bother you so much?" "Huh, what are you talking about." We had been sitting in silence for half an hour, I finally decided to see what is so troubling to Dash that he won't talk for half an hour. Which is so unlike him. "Don't be coy, Roy. Tell me what is really bothering you. I know it's about what I said earlier. Just be honest with me!" I wait for his response. For the longest while he says nothing, finally he caves in and sighs. " I..... Aaron I...... Nothing, okay? It was just embarrassing to find out I talk in my sleep, and someone heard it." I could something wasn't right. "You're lying. How dumb do you think I am? We've been friends for 7 years I think I know you a little better than that." Dash's expression suddenly turns dark, "Aaron why don't you just put a sock in it and leave me alone." He growls. My heart breaks. "My business is my own okay! So do me a favor and keep your nose out of it." He snaps. "Well fine! Be that way! I just wanted to know how you're feeling, but I guess that 7 years of friendship isn't enough for your feelings to be my business, so sorry!!!" I run up to my room and hear Dash's footsteps follow mine. I slam the door before he has a chance to get in.
I collapse on the ground and begin sobbing. Why is he so angry? Is it my fault? He's never yelled at me like that before.. "Aaron I'm sorry! Let me in please." Dash pounds on the door, I make no move to answer it and no move to stop crying. He keeps pounding. "Leave me alone...." I quietly whisper through my tears and a stricken voice. The pounding stops.
"I'm not leaving you. I'll wait outside your door all night. I need you." Then silence. For an hour I sit in the silence. Then I slowly make my way to the door... I pull it open and see that Dash is sitting on the floor across the hall leaning against its wall facing the direction of the door. When he sees it has been opened, he stands up. His eyes beg for mercy, and forgiveness. And I know he won't take another step unless I give him the say so. I motion for him to hug me, a sign that all has been forgiven. He walks forward and holds me in his arms. "I really am sorry. Friends?" He pleads. I hold out my pinkie, he hooks his to mine. "Friends."
We walk into the room, and he sits on the bed I sit next to him. And when I do I feel his body tense. For several minutes he doesn't say anything, and seems to be seriously contemplating something.
Finally, he speaks. "There's something I need to tell you." I look at him and our eyes meet. "I like you, Aaron. As.. more.. than just a friend." My mind swirls in all directions at once. My breathing comes to a halt. My stomach hurts. I'm so confused, how long has he felt this way. We're not supposed to be like that, were just friends. My mind is pulling away from Dash, scared of the truth. And yet something pulls me to do what my mind doesn't want. Suddenly I am no longer in control. I grab Dash's hand and lean forward. He leans my direction. Our lips touch. The kiss is slow and soft. Dash takes my chin in his hands. I use my other hand and grab his shoulder. And things are moving faster, escalating quickly. I never knew how much I wanted this till it happened. Dash pushes me on my back and sits over me. Our breathing is erratic. He smashes his lips against mine, I grip his back. I sound emerges from my throat. A moan. Dash sticks his tongue in my mouth, and groans.
Then it clicks what's happening, I shove dash off me. And get to my feet. "Oh no. No! This cannot be happening. Dash this isn't right. This could ruin our friendship." I shout. Dash sees I'm a bomb that's moments away from going off. "Aaron relax let's just pretend it never happened. Not any of it." And those simple words calm me down. " But... it did happen." I counter. " But that doesn't mean we can't act like it never did. And our act will eventually become reality this moment, that moment, will have never existed." Dash takes my hand in his. "It never happened. Agreed?" I look up in his eyes "Agreed." We hear the front door open and smell Chinese. Our favorite. Halfway through dinner something ironic happened, my mom asked a question. "Anything interesting happen for you guys today?" Me and Dash's eyes meet for a split second. "Nope."
Sorry it took so long to get these past few chapters out. Let me know what you think of the story so far! :)
