The walk to find where ever the Nome went was long and frustrating. It felt like no matter how hard he looked, Seven couldn't find any thing that lead him to them.

Squeaks just sat on the side lines, occasionally sniffing around, but always kept him in her sight. Not that he cared that much of course, he had bigger things to worry about like FINDING THOSE STUPID CONE-HEADED VERMINS.

Wondering for what must have been hours, the blue jacket boy found himself in a large room full of nothing but coal. With a click, his turned his flashlight on. Squeaks' echos in the vent behind him rattled, causing a chaotic renege of sounds.

He turned at the sudden loud banging noise, and if he knew she wasn't some hungry, feral beast, he would of screamed, seeing her dart out of the vent that let them in.

She pelted away from his side, climbing up a small pile of coal, perching at the top, scanning around. He imagined that if she was an actual animal, her ears would have been pointed upwards in alert. She'd seem like the type.

"'ey, get down from there before you scare off anything," he whispered loudly. She turned her head to him, before going down the coal and padded farther into the room.

Seven gave a sigh, holding his flashlight tight in his hand as he looked around. Squeaks suddenly let out a barrage of cries and loud squeaks, making him jump.

He came over to the coal she had got behind, shining his flashlight down at the raincoat wearing girl. Her shoulders were tensed and her back arched slightly as she growled at whatever was in front of her.

He then shined the light at what she was growling at, finding a small Nome. It was smaller then the others he had seen, pale silver skin and hat, it seemed a bit frightened by the growling other.

'She keeps this up and she's gotta run all of them off,' he concluded.

He hit the flashlight against his leg, making the feral look at him with a small confused look, before turning back.

"Get out of here, Nome," Six hissed, glaring daggers at the tiny cone-headed creature. The Nome looked like she was just allowed out of the colony nest, judging by small she was.

"Y-you can speak?" She asked quickly, stepping back. Six growled again, taking a step forward. She wished she could look intimidating like Frost or Splash, all fur and hackles raised.

"W-wait, I won't hurt you, please, I-I mean no harm! Do you two need help? I-I can take you to the upper levels, there's a hidden staircase just-"

The Nome took a step forward, and Six sprang. Pinning the small creature down, and buried her teeth into the Nome's shoulder.

Cries for help nearly made her eardrums explode, but she kept her grip steady. Nomes were dangerous, they couldn't take a-

With a quick hit from behind, the world went black.

Seven held the head of the flashlight in his hand, looking at the now unconscious animal. Her teeth were still in the Nome, and after a bit of forcing her to let go, the small creature was free.

The Nome backed away, holding its injured arm, looking at him with a fearful look. Seven turned his attention to Squeaks, rolling her now unconscious body a little with his foot. He squatted down, looking at her with a blank face.

"Now are you going to behave or am I gonna dump your sorry ass here?" He asked. She didn't stir awake, making him give a small 'hmph'.

He grabbed her hood, standing up as she slightly dangled in his grip. He turned to the Nome, who still looked scared and a bit flabbergasted by the other's actions.

"You know where the engine is?" He asked. It gave a nod, understanding him. There was a language barrier, but only on his end it seemed like. It was fine though, at least the thing actually listened to him.

"Show me. I'll keep this thing at bay," he said, hand gripping the raincoat hood a bit harder. The Nome took a small moment, as if hesitant to bring Squeaks anywhere near them.

Slowly, it gave another nod, still holding onto its injury, it began to lead their way deeper into the heart of the ship.

The boy in blue followed, dragging the unconscious Squeaks behind him.

After a bit of traversing through the labyrinth of small nooks and crannies, Six slowly began to stir away. Her head felt sore and her paws felt like they had been dragged on the ground until they were raw.

Her hind legs felt tingly as she tried to wake up fully. Where was she? What was happening?

Her sleek yellow fur felt like it was choking her, the collar tight against her neck. Had the Nomes caught them? Were they gonna die?

She whimper as she felt her body drop down from a ledge, hitting it unceremoniously as her hood's collar nearly choked her again. Vision blurry, she tried to look around.

Stacks of wooden boxes passed by her, metal walls illuminated by hanging light bulbs. The floor felt like it was rubbing her skin raw by how rough the wood was, like it was splintering into her with every tug.

She looked to the side, seeing it was Blueberry who was dragging her, the Nome leading him. Her mind started to think of every possible scenario.

Had the Nome brainwashed him and was now using him as her slave? Did some Nome ghost thing possess him? Did she cast a spell? Was he actually a Nome this entire time and only did this to take her back so they could eat her?

She wanted to fight back, but she was too weak to even move her paws. She tried to let out a small squeak to get his attention, but her mouth was so dry she couldn't even form a single word.

Darkness clouded her vision again, slowly slipping into comforting arms of sleep again. Before she could fall completely under, she felt him stop, dropping her hood. With the blow on the head, she was sleep once more.

"Not a bad place you guys got." Seven's eyes scanned the room around them. It was large and open, a tall ceiling with pipes and ducts all around. A large furnace roared with hungry fires, eating the coal in the mouth of the machine.

A pile of coal laid next to it, a ramp lead upwards to it for Nomes to come and supposedly throw a few into it.

He turned his attention, looking to the smaller creature. "Where do I go next?" he asked. The Nome looked at him for a second, as though silently judging him.

With a small hand, the pale silver Nome pointed towards the side. His dark blue eyes followed it, spotting a moving conveyor belt leading upwards.

He gave a nod. "Thanks, you be careful-"

A sudden painful wave of what felt like electricity ran down his spine. Seven stood paralyzed, his pupils shrank in fear and realization.

His legs grew weak all of the sudden, vision growing dark. Please God, no, no, no, NO-

***

"Man, you took forever this time. I thought I'd never get to meet our new friend!"

Seven's eyes snapped open at the voice. It was lighter than his, a snicker laying under it. The black void around them nearly made the figure invisible, but who could be invisible in a room full of shadows when one was wearing a white mask.

Seven pushed himself up to his feet, stumbling as he tried to back away from the new figure.

"Get away, get the fuck away from me, Arcane!" He shouted, nearly collapsing on his unstable legs. The black figure looked just like him, with the addition of more wilder hair and a white mask with a wide grin on it.

"Oh come on, I just want some fun, Cutie!" he cooed, crossing his arms behind his back as he walked forward. The eerie look of the grinning mask matched the wild look in his white eyes. Each step he took, Seven scrambled to get away.

"No-- I-- Get out of my head, now! I'm not hungry, stop it-- j-just leave me alone!" Fear filled the other's mind, he couldn't let him touch him. He couldn't, he didn't want to eat.

The shadow, who Seven had only known as Arcane, gave a chuckle. "You're such a tease, Sevvy. But, let's be real for just a second," he stated.

Seven felt his breath hitch, suddenly feeling the other's hands on his shoulders. His cold breath made the hair on his neck stand, as the mask on the others face, lightly brushed his cheek.

He stood there frozen, his throat tightened in fear. Tears brimmed his eyes. No matter how hard he tried, he could never fight.

"I always have my fun," Arcane whispered, a chill settling in the other's blood.

A scream of pain cut through the air as Arcane dug his fangs into Seven's neck, the other already feel himself lose control of his body.

***

Six stirred away slowly, flinching at the bright fire of the furnace not that far away. Her head pounded worse then before, a small whimper escaping her.

She buried her small muzzle between her paws, as though it would ease the pounding pain that came with each heartbeat.

The strange rat rose her head at last, looking around. Blueberry sat just a few tail lengths away, holding his head as soft sobs came from him. Six slowly stood up on all fours, still a bit wobbly.

"Blueberry?" She asked. Blueberry noticed her soft squeak, but he didn't turn around, rather he curled up in a ball.

She came to him, before freezing as she saw the sight in front of her. The Nome for early laid on the ground, blood staining the metal as the corpse was ripped open. Bones and fragments of tissue were littered about, taking the other back a bit.

"You killed it?"

"I killed it..." he mumbled with a shaky breath. Six looked to him, he looked shocked, which rose a bit of confusion. What was wrong? Nomes were meant to be killed if they didn't kill you first.

Or, at least, that's what the colony believed. Maybe it was different for their species...

"I don't know what's wrong with me... I can't get a grip on anything, and everything keeps happening so fast... I can't even control my own emotions any more!" Six looked at him, although she didn't understand, he seemed to be hurting.

"Blueberry, are you okay?" She tried to ask. She nudged her nose to his arm, which was holding his hind legs to his chest as his muzzle was pressed to his knees.

"Sunrise, not now... just... leave, go, get away from me," he uncurled and pushed her away. Six frowned, but still persisted.

She put her muzzle to his arm, nudging it until he pushed her away again. She did it again, and again, and again.

He finally stopped when she got his arm around her, and pressed the top of head to his still drawn in knee as an affectionate play bump.

"It's gonna be okay. If you can kill the other ones, we'll be out of here as soon as we can! Then, you can meet mom, aunt Violet, and the others. They'll like you, I'm sure!"

Seven couldn't find the strength to push her away again. It felt like his mind was running from wide open to a staggering slow pace.

This was why he hated it when he got hungry.

This was why he hated the stupid voice in his head.

This was one reason on why he hated himself.

Now how was he gotta get out of here? He was sure every Nome nearby ran away when that one Nome screamed. He looked over to the conveyor belt, it was frozen in place, useless to him.

Maybe there was something else though, like a loose air vent, or an open pipe that lead upwards.

Something... just something to help him escape.
