The Tutorial

Izuku proceeded down the corridor, keeping his ears alert in the pitch black. According to his father's diary, the tutorial was split into 7 blocks.

Block A was the first trial, and Block G was the last. Block A was filled with numerous traps, all designed to harm or kill the Players.

By completing the trial of each Block, Izuku could earn Karma. Karma was used as a type of currency and scoring system between Players. Depending on your contribution in the trial, you earned a certain amount of Karma.

Izuku was alone, which meant he would get all of the Karma, and then bonus points for doing it solo.

There were also items or secrets hidden in each trial called Hidden Pieces. These Hidden Pieces were highly sought after, but were often difficult to find, and then even more difficult to obtain.

Izuku kept his ears strained for the clicking of a mechanism, or the woosh of an arrow.

The greenette stepped to the side when he heard a metallic ting from behind. A steel arrow embedded itself into the floor just ahead of him.

  Izuku gulped nervously.

He continued down the corridor, dodging or deflecting arrows with his dagger, but his progress was halted by an arrow embedding itself in his forearm. The arrowhead had come clean out the other side, but the shaft had been stopped by the tail feathers.

Izuku grit his teeth, growling in pain, snapping the tail feathers from the wooden body and pulling it all the way through.

  *You are in great pain.*

  *You are affected with Stun.*

*Your Level- Headedness keeps you calm.*

  *You are no longer Stunned.*

*You have gained a tolerance to pain.*

He quickly wrapped his arm up with a bandage, tightening it. That was all he could do for now, as he was still wary of more arrows.

Izuku stared at the bloodied arrowhead lying on the floor.

  It was blue.

He looked over at the arrow he'd deflected with his dagger.

  It was Yellow.

  "The hidden piece..!" Izuku muttered.

Izuku had found the hidden piece to block A that even his father hadn't discovered.

It took ten minutes for Izuku to figure out the hidden piece. This one was not an item or artifact, it was more of a secret.

Dodging blue arrows increased his Agility.

Deflecting red arrows increased his Strength.

It took a while for Izuku to figure it out, but getting hit by the yellow arrows increased his Stamina, which in turn increased his Health.

Izuku's improved senses soon allowed him to make out blurred colour in the dark, letting the greenette take the appropriate actions for the appropriate kind of arrow.

It hurt a lot, but he was slowly building a high tolerance to pain. His speed and strength were improving too, letting him react quicker, and deal with more arrows at once.

It took him a day, but he made it to the end of the corridor.

*You have reached the end point.*

*You have cleared block A as a solo player. Extra Karma will be awarded.*

Izuku opened the large door and stepped into the small waiting room.

*Treatment of your wounds will now begin.*

Izuku sighed in relief, slumping against the wall.

"At least I'm not going to bleed out.." he muttered, his eyes closing.

The greenette slowly awoke, only to jolt in surprise. A man in a hooded robe was standing right infront of him.

*My senses didn't detect him..? Then he must be..*

  "A Mystery Merchant." He said.

The merchant smiled, bowing to Izuku.

"At your service. Is there anything you need after coming this far?"

A list of items popped up before the greenette.

Izuku stared in awe at the long list of expensive, powerful items.

Mystery Merchants could pop up anywhere they pleased in the tower and the tutorial, but only to their own whims.

Izuku didn't find anything he really wanted until he reached the bottom.

  *Reset ticket*

*Reset the area to start from the beginning again. Only available in the tutorial.*

Izuku looked up at the merchant.

"What do you use as payment?"

  The merchant chuckled softly.

"Normally stat points. What were you looking to buy?"

  Izuku selected the reset tickets.

"I'll give you all of my gained stat points for as many reset tickets I can buy."

The merchant paused, a little surprised.

"You want those? Interesting. Players don't normally buy reset tickets, so you're in luck! It was good doing business with you!"

The merchant retreated through a portal, leaving Izuku alone in the waiting room once more.

Izuku looked down at the tickets in his hand. He was as weak as he was before again, but now he had 10 reset tickets.

Izuku put 9 in his pocket and ripped one in two, feeling the pull back to the beginning. He caught one last glimpse down the corridor of a team battling copper mannequins, then darkness.

Izuku blinked, and he was back at the start of block A, facing the corridor that spat arrows.

He stretched out his improved senses and smiled.

This was going to be easier than last time.

Izuku made his way through block A 10 times, increasing his stats and skill proficiency as he went. Soon he could tell just by the way each mechanism clicked exactly where it was and what colour the arrow would be.

It took him 19 hours on his first run.

He made his way through block A in 16 minutes on his last.

Izuku had become stronger. Fitter. Faster. His senses streamed information into his brain at an incredible rate and level of detail.

Izuku moved on to Block B after 3 days in Block A. He had been set further back, but he was confident that he could catch, and even overtake the frontrunners in the time he had left.

Izuku took another few steps forwards.

  *You have entered Block B*
