"Jason, stay here," I say urgently.

I jump out of the bed, closing the curtain behind me, and slowly creep to the door. Bang. I let out a little squeal and quickly place my hand over my mouth.

"Who's there?" Says a voice outside.

I hear a thud and a quiet 'ouch!' then another voice, which is much deeper than the first, says in a whisper,

"Cameron, shut up! You're gonna' scare her!"

"Sorry, sorry..."

"Hey girl," Says the the deeper voice, "You need to let us in. You're in a lot of danger here and you can't stay."

"Yeah there's nothing to be afraid of! We're here to help!" The boy called Cameron says enthusiastically.

I hear a thud, and another 'ouch!'

After listening to them squabble, I finally work up the courage to open the door, and when I do, I see two boys about my age. The one I assumed was Cameron was clutching one foot and hopping around on the other. His face was scrunched up like he was in pain. He had greasy, light brown hair and bad acne. I took notice to how thin and pale he was compared to his friend, who was a buff African-American with short, well kept hair and flawless facial features. I assumed he was the kid with the deep voice, and also the one who had undoubtedly stomped on his friend's foot.

Immediately, the African-American shakes my hand and introduces himself.

"Hi!" He exclaims. "I'm Alex, and that," He points to Cameron, "Is my highly unintelligent partner, Cameron. And you are..?"

"Oh." I say, quickly pulling my eyes away from his gorgeous face. "I'm Jessica, it's nice to meet you!"

"Look, sorry for scaring you earlier with the banging and stuff but, can I come in?" He asks.

"Of course!" I say politely, opening the door a little wider to let him in.

"CAMERON GET OVER HERE!" He screams.

Cameron, who is not clutching his foot anymore, scrambles out of the forest near our campsite. I had no idea why he was in there, it was still raining and there was probably a lot of diseased people hanging around in that forest. I then realize how stupid I'm being.

"Oh my gosh!" I say, just as Cameron comes inside. I then shut the door as quickly as possible. "I'm so sorry! It's raining out there! I shoulda' let you in sooner..."

"It's ok, we're used to it," Alex says. "Cameron and I risk our lives every day to save people."

Suddenly, a voice coming from the other side of the curtain complains, "Jess, what's taking so long? Who's out there?"

I feel my face go hot. I completely forgot about Jason!

"Who's that?" Cameron asks curiously, pointing to the curtain.

"That's my little brother, Jason," I say, "Jason, you can come out if you want!"

The curtain opens and Jason's face peeks out.

"Hi." He says shyly. I can see the fear in his eyes.

"Jason there's nothing to be afraid of! These nice men are here to help us." I say confidently.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Cameron puff out his chest, he must have liked the idea of being called a man. Alex just glares at him.

Jason finally opens the curtain all the way and asks, "What are they here to help us with?"

"Listen buddy," Alex starts, "You and your sister are in danger. An extremely large group of infected people are after you."

"Uh, Alex?" Cameron says suddenly, "We better get going if we wanna save these two. It's getting late."

"You're right, let's get moving." Alex holds open the door for us, "I'll explain the rest on the way to the safe haven."

"Wait!" Jason yells, "We can't go out in the rain! We'll get killed!"

Alex quickly says, "You'll be ok, Cameron and I will protect you, now let's go!"

Jason, who still looks unsure, cautiously walks out the door with me and Cameron following closely behind.

As we walk away from the campground, Jason and I both look back at our little pop-up with hope in our eyes. Little did we know that we would never see it again.
