We The People (Deserve Freedom)

It is often said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

And though it's true, our corrupt, belittling society forces

Unrealistic, impossibly perfect, debilitating ways

Upon us in the name of being "trendy", "healthy" and "beautiful"

If we, as a society, could diminish our hypocritic ways,

The United States of America might just finally, finally,

Become the country of Freedom and Justice it was always intended to be.

But there is much work to be done - the judgment and cruelty has gone too far

For there's still no justice for the kids who are bullied because of who they are.

There's no justice for the women who are raped

and are told it's their fault for wearing revealing clothes.

There's no justice for the people who are abused,

Mentally, physically, emotionally by people they thought they could trust.

There's no justice for many people who are wronged

But hey! At least our strong, forward-thinking president,

Who has shunned those seeking refuge,

Who has sexually assaulted many women,

Who has made fun of the disabled,

Who has made it clear that America was better when white supremacy was at its largest,

Is contributing so much to Make America Great Again.

Perhaps one day, America will live up to its namesake,

But today is not that day.
