Gnocchi after an interview

It has been a couple of days since the team returned to Pittsburgh and you are getting ready for some press stuff. You are bothered because they thought it would be a good idea to pair you with Evgeni. At least you will be able to help him. It doesn't take long for you to finish getting ready. Your nose is hit by the smell of food. You head towards the kitchen. Evgeni is trying his best to make some bacon and egg.

"It smells good," You remark.

"Thank you," Evgeni replies. He is clearly concentrating on the cooking. It doesn't take him long to finish. He passes you a plate as he takes the seat next to you. He timidly starts nibbling at his breakfast. You get the feeling that it has something to do with the fact that he has an extreme dislike for interviews.

"Hey Evgeni you will be fine," You say.

"I know. I just hate interviews," He confirms your feeling.

"I will help you if you need," You offer. Ten minutes later you have made it to the location. The fact that Evgeni is on edge bothers you. You try your best to comfort him without saying anything. It doesn't take long for one of the crew members to help you both get ready. You are both led into a grand studio. You are greeted by an over enthusiastic interviewer. Hopefully Evgeni isn't annoyed by her.

"Welcome Mia. Welcome Evgeni," She remarks as you both sit down opposite her.

"So Mia, can you tell me what the major difference is between the German league and the NHL?" The interviewer gets to work on asking her questions.

"The biggest difference is the fans," You then go on explaining what you mean. Hopefully she is happy with your answer. As the interview drags on you find yourself glancing at Evgeni. Hopefully no one watching will notice.

"My last question obviously is how would you describe each other's playing style?" Finally a decent question. You are about to answer but Evgeni beats you to it.

"She plays like tiger. Once she is focused she can do anything. If you know what I mean," Evgeni gives an answer that surprises both you and the interviewer. At least he went with an animal that makes sense. The thought makes you giggle. Evgeni flashes you a shy smile. Hopefully no one watching will notice.

"Thank you for joining us today," The interviewer closes the interview. She stands up and both you and Evgeni get up. It doesn't take you long to reach the car. Evgeni looks like he has just had a good idea.

"Let's get something to eat," He remarks.

"Sure," You decide to agree with him because the interview has made you hungry for some reason. You hate the fact that it focused more on you than Evgeni. At least interviewers in Germany cared more about the game rather than the players. It doesn't take long for Evgeni to take you to another one of his favourite eating spots. You can tell that it is common for Evgeni to find himself here because one of the chefs comes out to greet him.

"So Geno, I will get you your usual and what can I get you?" He turns his attention to you.

"I will share with Geno," You reply. You are a little curious to see what he will get. You get the feeling that the chef will give him a little extra.

"I will get to it right away," He nods as he heads back to the kitchen. It doesn't take long for You and Evgeni to find a seat.

"So Evgeni how come you are a regular here?" You ask. You feel like a tag along at this point and you don't like the feeling.

"You will find out when the food comes. Anyway what did you think of the interview?" Evgeni tries to make small talk.

"It was too personal. I would honestly prefer to keep ice hockey and my personal life separate," You explain. Evgeni gives you a nod as the head chef places a massive plate of gnocchi between the two of you. You are glad that you are sharing. You get to work on nibbling away at the pasta. A question comes to mind.

"Evgeni do you think I should go house hunting or should I just stay with you?" You feel a bit awkward asking but you are now unsure of your plans.

"If you want to stay, stay but if you want I won't stop you," That was an answer you were not expecting. The good thing is he has just made the decision easy. You are glad that Evgeni took you to this restaurant.

"Thank you for bringing me here Evgeni," you remark. You are impressed at how well cooked the gnocchi is. You get the feeling that Evgeni is trying to take you to all of his favourite eating spots.

"Don't worry 'bout it," Evgeni responds. He has a genuine smile on his face. It is the day after your outing with Evgeni and you are getting ready for practice. It doesn't take you and Evgeni long to get to the rink. You are greeted by Sidney.

"Hey Sid what are you doing here?" You are a little confused.

"I was going to talk to Mike but he is not here yet," Sid responds. It makes sense. You quickly get ready for practice. You soon make it to the ice where you are deep in thought about the game against the New York Islanders. It is another away game. You are soon joined by Evgeni and Jake. They are talking about the game.

"So Mia what do you think about the latest game?" Jake turns his attention to you.

"It will be fun," You say as you get to work on some warm ups with them. It doesn't take long for Evgeni to finish his go.

"Hey Geno I saw you call Mia a tiger in your interview yesterday," Jake remarks. The good thing is Iggy is doing defence drills. Evgeni gives him a nod. This kind of banter makes you giggle.

"What animal would Jake be Evgeni?" You decide to add fuel to the fire.

"A bulldog," Evgeni responds. Jake is about to retort but he gives up. You almost let out a roar of a laugh but you have work to do. You get the puck from Jake and you get to work on the drill.
