Chapter one: Isolation.
I sat in the back of the class. Tired from last night, I put my head down to rest. No one would care. They don't like me here. It's fine though, I don't like them either. It's not like I have any reason to like them.
I slowly closed my eyes. Leaning into a light sleep. Until, of course, the bell rang. Standing up, I started walking to my class.
Gym...
I don't really want to run. My legs hurt. They've been cut up again. But whatever, if I want to leave this place, I have to get through school. School is step one, then college, and then, I'll be with them.
On my way to gym, I saw a girl. She was walking up the stairs. I don't know why I stayed there looking at her, but I did. She was different. She had dull eyes, and small smile. She was talking to the person in front of her.
She looked at me, and then and there, we made eye contact for the first time. Her eyes brightened a little, and my heart skipped a beat. We didn't say anything to each other, but we both knew something happened. We stayed like that for about two more minutes, until the late bell rang. She ended up running to her class, not wanting to get in much trouble.
When I arrived the coach yelled at me. Now I have to run twice the laps. What hurt even more was the hurdles.
Can I see that girl again?
Jump.
What if she thinks I'm a joke...
Jump.
Shit this burns.
Half way through, I noticed how the kid in front of me was about to puke.
"Mr. Truce, Daniel needs to go to the nurse! He's about to puke," I said, in a fake worried voice. I might not be liked here, but I am smart. I can get us out of anything I don't want to do.
"Alright, I'll take him down to the nurse," the coach said, leaving the room with Daniel.
"Nice job Alyse, you keep getting us out of gym, we'd all be as fat as you," Victoria said. Victoria, not really popular, but not as lonely as me. She's a real bitch. All she ever does is insult me.
"Thanks for the compliment. Now go kiss your best friend's boyfriend again," I quietly say. Not the best come back, but not to bad.
She stood there, acting a snobby. Her fake nails applied, ninety-nine cent mascara on, and her dollar lipstick smudging down.
"You're just jealous," she hissed. Her spit going on my face a little. Disgusting.
I wiped off the spit, "One, what would I be jealous of, your cheep ass? Two, you need to brush your teeth, your mouth smells disgusting," I say, wiping her spit on herself.
She glared at me, "You know what I mean. I have everything you used to have. I'm at the top of the food chain, now you're nothing but some brat at the bottom."
I looked behind her, seeing three girls, one being my old best friend. She looks different. No longer being modest, and face covered in bright blue make up. Blues always looked best on her. I smile at her. Her shocked face was brilliant.
I looked around Victoria, "You have what exactly? I'm smarter then you. I'm smarter, and trickier. You can't get to me."
After I said that, I walked past her. The coach came back, but the bell cut him off. Perfection.
Walking out of the gym, I looked around. The girl... She wasn't there. Maybe I'll see her tomorrow.
The rest of that day was a blur. When I got home, my mother was cooking, my father, or as I like to say, my mom's friend who banged her and doesn't do shit but be an ass and hit her, was sitting on the couch.
They have a toxic relationship. She doesn't realize it. But she will, hopefully soon. She deserves better. He deserves to marry a shoe.
I walked up stairs. Unpacking everything to start my homework. I finished about two and a half hours later.
"Goodnight, myself. Goodnight."
(cringe but here ig)
