Chapter 8: The Plan

Tanner slammed a large map, with several red dots covering the surface, onto Talon's coffee table.
"This," Tanner said, "is a map of this city and the next city over." Tanner motioned towards the red dots. "These symbolize where everyone else it." Tanner put his index finger next to a red dot that had a black 'X' across it. "This means that we've already found them, or killed them." Tanner grabbed a green pen and circled two 'X's.

"That's Emerald," Emerald. That's the princess. Mythily thought. He remembered the little girl in the hole which in he fell to his death. The pink braids tying up her muddy hair, which he had done for her earlier that afternoon.
"And that's Loreley." Loreley was the duchess. Mythily remembered she was a tall, skinny woman with pitch black hair that looked purple in the sunlight. She could be found at local pubs, drinking away her stress and flirting with hunters. Her eyes were a stunning golden, that won the heart of many men.

"We need to get them. Loreley and Emerald have had their Rememorial process complete but Emerald just got out of an 8 month coma because she Remembered too soon." Tanner said and stood up.
"She's in the hospital one town over."
"Um, Tanner, how do you know all this?" Reggie asked.
"I have my ways." Tanner said, adjusting his glasses.
"Right..." Reggie said, then stood up. "When should we leave to go get her?"
"Whenever you'd like." Tanner said.
"Well, let's just go get her now, then." Reggie swiped his keys off of the counter.

They all went out to Reggie's small, 5 seater car and piled in. Reggie in the driver's seat, Tanner in the passenger's seat, Talon by the left window, Mythily in the middle and Jane by the right window.
"Hey, Tanner," Reggie said, "do you have a GPS or something?"
Tanner nodded, taking out his phone and propping it up on the dashboard.

Reggie parked the car in the hospital's above ground parking lot, and got out. He walked over and opened Jane's door. Jane got out, followed by Mythily. Talon got out on the other side. Tanner got out last, taking his phone.
"Emerald is on floor 4, room 28." He said, starting to walk towards the building. The others followed.

Once they got inside, Tanner kept walking towards the elevator, the others still following.
"Excuse me! Excuse me, sir!" A nurse ran over to Tanner. "May I ask what you're doing?"
"We're going to see Emerald. I'm Tanner, this is Reggie, that's Talon, that's Mythily and that's Lady Jane." The nurse looked shocked.
"She's been talking about you. All of you. We thought she was going crazy." The nurse said.
"Well, she's not going crazy, but you wouldn't understand. May we see her?" Tanner asked. The nurse nodded.
"Floor 4, room 28. She's having lunch." Tanner nodded and they got on to the elevator. Once they got to the fourth floor, they quickly found room 28 and went inside.

Once inside, they saw Emerald sitting up and talking with a nurse.
"I'm not crazy!" She yelled. "They're real people, and they're gonna come get me! Talon is coming!"
"She's right, you know." Tanner said. Emma whirled around, and smiled widely. "She's not crazy. We're real people." The nurse looked shocked. Emma jumped out of bed and ran over to Talon and hugged him.
"I knew it! I knew you'd come for me." She said. Talon smiled.
"Yep, we did. Are you feeling alright?"
"I'm fantastic, now that you're here!" Emma said, excitedly.

Emma held on to Talon.
"Will you guys take me home? I don't like it here. These people are rude." Talon nodded.
"We're here to take you home." Tanner was about to walk out the door when Mythily gasped. Tanner looked over to Mythily, who was standing near the window.
"What?" Tanner asked.
"S-... Sel... Selemon is outside...!" Mythily choked out. Reggie walked over to the window and cursed under his breath.
"It'll be fine." Tanner said. "Let's go." He walked out of the room, being followed closely by Talon and Emma. Lady Jane walked out with Reggie and Mythily.

They turned a corner, and walked past someone with a hoodie covering their face. Once Mythily was about to pass the person, he noticed something. There was a golden glint coming from under the hoodie. Mythily knew what that meant. He tugged on Reggie's sleeve frantically.
"It's Selemon," Mythily whispered. Reggie was about to notify the others, but Mythily was jolted back, his hood ripping a little. Mythily coughed from the sudden lack of air and tried to tug the collar of his hoodie down. Mythily was being lifted up painfully. "Selemon, you-!" Reggie growled and punched Selemon square in the nose. Mythily was dropped, and his legs gave way. He heard his palms smack on the smooth, cold, hard floor. He groaned.

Tanner, Talon and Emma ran off, past the baffled front desk and out the door. Jane quickly helped Mythily up and went after the others.
"Reggie...!" Mythily called out behind him.
"He'll be alright, Myth..." Jane said.

Reggie ducked as a fist swung over his head. He charged forward, headfirst, into Selemon's stomach. Selemon crashed into the wall behind him, wheezing. Then Reggie quickly ran off. He ran out to his car and thankfully everyone had already piled in.

Reggie started the car and drove out of the parking lot. Everyone let out a quiet sigh of relief. After a few minutes, there was a loud 'CRASH' as something ran into the side of the car, and the car flew off the road. It landed in muddy grass, on it's side.

Mythily's seat belt ripped and he was slammed against the seat in front of him, and the window of the car shattered and glass went into his hands and arms as he tried to protect his head. Talon opened his door and got out, helping Reggie out as well. Tanner and Jane got Mythily and Emma out.
"Come, quickly, follow me." Reggie whispered. He ran down a small hill and into the nearby woods. They all followed in haste.

Reggie ran around a boulder and knelt down, the others followed and did the same.
"Okay, Jane, there is a cave not far from here. Just keep going and you should find it. I'm going to investigate what just happened. Got it?" Reggie looked serious, and so did Jane as she nodded.
"Come along," she said, standing up. She began to walk quickly and the others followed without hesitation.

Reggie stood up and ran back to his now ruined car. Boy, was it going to be fun to explain this to his mom. He looked at the spot that was hit. There was an extremely large dent in the side of the car, and there was streaks of white all over the once dark green vehicle. He was about to move on, when something caught his eye. He looked closer.

There was a piece of paper that had been roughly jammed in between the doors. Reggie opened the door, with much difficulty, and watched the newly found scroll tumble to the ground. He picked it up and inspected it. The seal was white and had a picture of a sun on it.

Reggie sighed and opened the scroll, it read:

Scribe,

Don't let him catch you. He's nearby. Run, hide, fight, act, do what you must. Do not let him catch you. I will find you soon enough and aide you on your quest. I guarantee you do not remember me, but I remember you and you need me. Even though your brother is a very able man, I can do more than he can.

See you soon,
-Angela

Angela. Reggie remembered her. To sum her up, she was a beautiful person with stunning red hair and shining grey eyes. She wore glasses that just emphasized her beauty. She was an epic swordswoman, and was exceptional at archery. She was also fantastic with a gun. Reggie was relieved they actual had a good chance of surviving the game this time.
