Chapter 12.
The silence in the jet, mad Kilca question everyone including her sister. That question, made everyone go as quiet as the sleeping child. Nico was clenching his fists tightly, Duke was just petting Lou's hair while the others were looking anywhere but Kilca.
"I'll ask again, when did she get her powers?" Nico sighed leaning his head back against the metal. He looked over to Lou than to Kilca.
"We don't know," his answer caused Kilca to question him even more and he saw it. "She was just a baby, no mother, no home and nowhere to go. Aracon raised her, she would look like any other mother when she had Lou on her hip. Lou grew up with us, with the black power all around her so we didn't think that it would affect her but it did. She was just a baby, she was out with the girls one day and some wannabe tough guys thought that they could get some fun time out of them," his words were laced with rage, all of them were. "They believed that there was no one there that day with powers, we believed that too. What those assholes and ourselves didn't know is that there was one among them with powers."
"Lou," Nico nodded his head to Kilca's answer.
"No one, not even the Boss knew. The girls called us, we went over to where they were only to find four piles of thorns. They were moving around whatever was at the center, I never saw something like that before. It was like the thorns really came to life and attacked. We quickly found that those men were at the center, they were being eaten alive, consumed by the thorns. Lou was only a year old Queen Kilca, we didn't know what to do to help her control something that wasn't handed to her by our Queen. Aracon thought hard about if she should take Lou to you but she choice against it. Something about, you taking her away."
"Aracon wouldn't have let me, even if I had known. I knew better than to take something of her's, Nico listens to me. I've seen only one child grow up with these "black powers" and that person was Aracon. No one would be able to survive to have that much destructive power in their veins. No one could, you too were young to have the power but Aracon must have seen the strength in your soul for her to know you could handle it. But to have a child, an infant holding this power will lead to what happened to that building and to those men."
"She wasn't given the power, we don't know how it happened. She just has it, she doesn't even remember those men, we'd like to keep it that way too. The Boss felt it was the best way to keep her safe and protected. Aracon has only done her best to raise Lou and give not only her but all of us a normal and healthy life."
"Normal? Healthy? Nico what Aracon has done is none of those. She was never meant to spread the power to others, let alone humans. Nico, she's passing on her death power and now it's affected a child. Aracon's powers are death, nothing more nothing less. Nico as of right now, you have to worry about Lou's life because, for someone her age, she won't live long if she keeps using her powers. Last night probably pushed her age forward, Nico even Aracon would be able to tell that this child, won't live a full mortal life."
Kilca's words caused a stillness to gather around the jet, her words were true. It was uncommon, even among them to have someone just gain the powers instead of them being given. Lou was still sleeping, Nico leaned back breathing heavily. It was the truth and if Kilca could sense that then it is true. Duke looked down at Lou, he started crying. He was scared of losing her just like everyone else. Kilca felt slightly bad at the reaction from her words but they needed to hear them. To prepare them for a future that would more than likely coming.
Once arriving in Japan, Max was waiting for the jet doors to open. Now Lou was awake and aware of where she was and what's happening. Kilca walked out to have Max pull her aside, Lou was holding Duke's hand as they walked but seeing the look on Kilca's face caused Lou to stop moving. Duke noticed quickly that she had stopped, her gaze had him look over at the two talking. Kilca looked pissed and Duke wanted to know as did Lou. They finished and everyone was now inside the elevator going down. Reaching a floor the doors opened to reveal many Pack member in the hall, some sitting some standing but all protecting the single room on the floor. Seeing Kilca caused them to question but seeing Nico step out to reveal Lou to them, a breath of relief ran down the hall. They moved as the door opened, the girls came out and smiled. Lou received hugs and smiles from everyone but she was still searching for the one face she was dying to see. Nico took her hand and brought her inside the room. Nothing could prepare her to see her Mother, her Queen on the bed look so at peace before. Moving closer Aracon's eye slowly opened, seeing her daughter caused her to smile as best as she could.
Her bad eye was wrapped up with bandages as was parts of her face, the only thing telling people she was still breathing was the steady beating from the heart monitor. Her body was so still that it was hard to tell if she was even breathing. Aracon looked at them to only open her arms. Lou let out a child-like cry before running to her bed, climbing on before crawling into her hold. Her warm, safe arms. Aracon cradled her head, holding her close. Aracon looked at Nico, holding out her hand, he reached for it and kissed her fingertips. He smiled seeing it was real, everything was real. Lou was safe, Aracon would live and all will be fixed. Peacefully silence fell upon everyone in the room to everyone in the hall.
