Chapter Six: FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

"There is always something on my mind."

Ashley was glad that Jenn was leading the way to where they were eating, because she was sure that she would've gotten lost before the first turn.

In fact, as she looked around the massive food court, she was definitely glad that Jenn was leading her because even in such a "small" ship, there were heaps of stuff that had been "magiked" into existence to hold such a large population of people.

She probably wouldn't have been able to find Luke in the masses that dined, and was thankful to have Jenn there guiding her.

In the middle of the chaos, there was a singular table. This table was at least seven meters long and two meters wide. Ashley was relieved to see Luke, who was sitting at the right hand of the head of the table.

He offered her the seat next to him, and Ashley took it, not without thanking Jenn for guiding her.

Jenn nodded her head, "Sure, whatever," she says before walking off to her group of friends.

Luke chuckled, "Don't take her attitude to heart," he tells Ashley, "She's used to people making assumptions about how a daughter of Ares "should" act, so she changed her behaviour to suit the masses."

"There's a stereotype?" Ashley asked, unable to hide the fact that she found that stupid from her voice and face.

"Unfortunately," Luke sighed.

"What, so that means most people will expect you to steal something?" Ashley asked him, raising her eyebrows.

Luke chuckles, the light making his scar a lot more scary, "Oh, that's for good reason when we're talking about me."

Ashley smiled, softening her expression so she looked younger as she smiled purely and innocently at him, "You wouldn't steal from me... would you?"

Luke actually stopped and stared at her for a few minutes before laughing, "Now, if you had been a daughter of Hermes, you would've gotten away with so much shit."

Ashley laughed.

"Did you like the cabin?" Luke asked her.

"Yeah," Ashley grinned, "I especially liked the little horses that had been made using pearls. The herd of them was brilliantly made."

"I thought you might like that piece of art," Luke smirked.

Ashley smiled, "So what were you planning to have for dinner?" She asked as she looked pointedly at his empty plate.

Luke smirked at her, "Watch this, you're going to love this," he spoke to his plate, "Beef burger and fries."

The burger and fries appeared on his plate, and Ashley was staring, her jaw dropped open in surprise and shock, "What- how-?"

Luke laughed at her expression, "It's the plates, see?" he held hers up and she stared at it, spotting the runes underneath the plate, "They're spelled to create the food instantly for the demigod or demigoddess who asks."

"Then why the massive food court?" She asks, gesturing around them.

Luke shrugs, "Some people prefer the "traditional" way of getting food, so it's offered as a choice that they don't starve."

"Oh," Ashley nodded in understanding, "That makes sense."

"Any more questions?" Luke teased.

"Yeah," Ashley's cheeks went red as she nodded her head, "Why no cellphones?"

"They usually draw out monsters," Like shrugged as Ashley paled, "You were lucky in New Zealand, not many gods/goddesses head that far east-south which means that unless there's a mass grouping of extremely powerful demigods and demigoddesses that's when you want to start worrying."

"Oh," Ashley nods, she looked at her own plate, "Honey chicken fried rice."

The meal was heating her plate within moments and Ashley was staring at it for a few moments before she put her fork into the meal and scooped some of it up. She eyed it suspiciously before putting it into her mouth.

"Omg, it's real, not fake," Ashley was surprised, which made Luke laugh.

"Of course it's not fake," Luke rolled his eyes, "What? Did you think we were poisoning you?"

"Maybe just a little," Ashley joked, not joking at all.

Dinner passed by quickly after that, and soon enough Ashley was being guided back to the Poseidon cabin by one of her roommates, Jamie, child of Dionysus. Jamie was born female, but most of the time felt male so she had become he most days, thanks to a brief discussion that Ashley had with him, however some days Jamie would choose to be called by female pronouns, but most of the time people should just use male pronouns.

Ashley had made sure to double-check that he wanted male pronouns instead of female pronouns.

Jamie had joked how he took after his Dad's more "insane" gift with how difficult and different Jamie was to "normal" people. Then Ashley had pointed out that magik existed and then he had laughed.

The Poseidon cabin looked so gorgeous at night, Ashley decided as she and Jamie walked towards it - she had asked him why he was staying in the Poseidon cabin instead of the Dionysus cabin, and answered that any demigod could stay in any cabin here. The names of the cabins were just tribute to the former camp - the cabin glowed slightly from the moon that Ashley had no idea how they managed to get in.

She assumed magik because where the roof would be for the floor of the next floor, it was just open sky.

She sent 'Drag0nRider201' a message saying goodnight as she changed into her pajamas(uncaring if her cabin mates saw her bra or underwear) then jumping into bed.

The next morning, Ashley was momentarily confused as to where the frick she was until she saw the beautiful designs of the Poseidon cabin. She lay in bed for what seemed like hours to her, but it was only ten minutes.

She could see that her fellow cabinmates had already left for the day, and she let out a sigh that echoed around the cabin.

A knock on the cabin door had Ashley upright in her bed immediately, and she got out of the nice warm bed and headed to the door.

She opened it, and gave a tired smile to the boy outside, "Mornin'," she mumbled out.

The boy laughed, "You do know it's ten am, right?" his dark brown eyes sparked with amusement. This dark midnight black hair seemed to suck in the light around them, and his skin was extremely pale.

Ashley yawned, "Yeah, that's like... three am for me," she blinked, as she tilted her head the slightest at him. She hadn't seen this demigod yet.

The boy chuckled, "My bad, I still haven't introduced myself - sorry, it's a habit by now - I'm Nicky Riddick, son of Nyx," Nicky gave her a grin.

"Ashley Ally," Ashley smiled.

"The daughter of Poseidon," Nicky grinned, "Yeah, I know."

Ashley winces, "Does everyone know?" she asks.

"Pretty much," Nicky shrugs, "Anyway, Luke's busy today so he asked if I could take you through training today."

"Let me guess," Ashley said drily, her voice full of sarcasm, "We're going to learn how to make cupcakes today."

Nicky snorted, "Yes, and we can't forget the biscuits."

Ashley laughed, "Just gimme a moment, and I'll be right back out," she smiled, shutting the door again.

She headed over to her suitcase and grabbed a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, ridding herself of her pajamas as she slipped the clothes on. She grabbed her black and white chucks, putting them on with practiced ease, and grabbing her black and blue NY Yankees hat that she had brought back in New Zealand.

She sent 'Drag0nRider201' a good morning and apologizing because she couldn't stay and chat before turning her phone off and hiding it once more.

She headed back outside and saw Nicky playing with his shadow. Literally. Like, he was making physical contact with the thing, "What the f*ck?"

Nicky jumped and his shadow looked disappointed for a moment before it went back its normal stillness, "Son of Nyx, remember?" Nicky's smirk covered up the fact that she had made him jump, "Primordial of the Night? Also goes to shadows and things like monsters."

"Monsters?" Ashley echoed, she still hadn't been told what these "monsters" were other than creatures that hunted down demigods for using cellphones.

"Yeah," Nicky shrugged, "You know, like the Minotaur, Hellhounds, Medusa, Echidna, Chimera. E.t.c."

"Oh," Ashley fumbled her hands together, "Do they really hunt demigods down for using cellphones?"

"Oh, yeah," Nicky nodded, "All the time, even if some of the more powerful demigods like me go around cellphones or laptops and stuff, we're literally sending up a massive "kill me, fresh demigod meat here!" sign to all monsters in New York."

"Oh," she frowned, "Does anyone know why?"

"I don't think so," Nicky said thoughtfully, before heading back to the original topic, "Anyway, Luke wanted me training you, and your powers today."

"My powers?" Ashley quoted, a puzzled expression on her face.

Nicky raised an eyebrow at her, "You're the daughter of Poseidon, of course, you have powers."

"I don't think you can train speaking to horses," Ashley crossed her arms, still very confused.

Nicky actually facepalmed whilst saying "facepalm" making Ashley snicker at first, "Your dad's the god of the seas, the first thing that comes to mind when I say powers is speaking to horses?"

Ashley gave him an innocent smile, "Uh, yeah?"

Cue the epic facepalm from the son of Nyx. "That's it," he announced, throwing his hands to the sky, "You're a hopeless case, it was nice knowing you," he waved as he walked off.

"Nickyyyyyyy," Ashley laughed, dragging out his name as she chased after him, "Don't be like that."

Nicky rolled his eyes when she caught up to him, "Good luck with the monsters, daughter of Poseidon."

"Nicky," Ashley sighed, rolling her murky green-blue eyes at him, "Please, help train me."

Nicky grinned at her, "You sure you want me to help train you?" his smile was a little too malicious for Ashley's liking.

"Yes, please," Ashley said anyway, tossing the bad feeling she had about the situation she had gotten herself into out the window.

Turns out it's a really bad idea to ask the son of the Primordial of the Night to fight her, Ashley discovered as she instinctively threw her arms up to protect herself from the wall of darkness that he threw at her. She went sliding back, but surprisingly wasn't hurt at all. Ashley glanced up to see a wall of frozen water protecting her from Nicky's attack.

"There we go," Nicky grinned, looking a hell of a lot more triumphant than Ashley who was gaping.

"Holy, sh*t," Ashley cursed under her breath.

Nicky laughed at her, controlling the darkness to disappear, "And you say that you don't have water powers."

"I didn't say that," Ashley argued.

Nicky gave her a deadpanned look, "You basically did."

"Did not."

"Did too."

Ashley pouted, and flicked her finger, drawing from the same feeling that she had when Nicky was attacking her, and she was proud to see a clump of water fall on his head.

Nicky spluttered, "Hey!"

Ashley ignored him in favor of figuring the powers she had, obviously, she was drawing out the water particles in the air, or otherwise, she wouldn't be able to summon any water at all. The river in the woods was too far for her limited range, the same for the lake. Which meant-

Ashley narrowed her eyes and focused on Nicky, the demigod stopped in his ranting almost immediately. She let out a laugh as she felt her body quickly draining of energy, and Nicky couldn't do anything but glare at her.

Ashley quickly released him from her hold and Nicky gasped, "How- what in the name of Zeus's dirty underpants was that!?"

"You said Poseidon is water," Ashley shrugged, a devious smirk on her lips, "The human body is made up of up to 60% of water, it's not that hard for someone who controls water to make a person stop, or do something else."

Nicky stared at her, his mouth agape, "And this is the first time you've used your powers?"

"Yep," Ashley smiled innocently.

Nicky's face paled, "May Gaea have mercy on us all," he muttered to himself.

Nicky had run off not too long after another match between their powers, then they had a "Sword Fighting for Dummies 101" mini-lesson with a pair of bronze swords. Then after three or so hours of this, Nicky let Ashley go.

She ended up chatting with Blackjack until lunch, which then she had to leave the mare to go feed her grumbling stomach.
