Chapter Two
"Thank the Heavens you three came!" Zelda whisper yelled. "The queen couldn't be any more impatient." Zelda was an elf, just like Link. She was wearing a magenta dress with long lavender sleeves; her golden blonde hair symbolized that it had some sort of grand power within it, and her eyes were oceanic blue. Gloss noticed that she was still holding her wand.
She wasn't able to ask her any questions as to why she couldn't have left it in her workroom, but she was the wizard after all. Everyone in the castle still never understood how she dealt with Aldis and Dalton. Many villagers even say that she puts a spell on them to keep them from being antsy.
Once they entered the throne room, the queen had a relieved look on her face. Gloss, however, noticed something different about Her Highness. Was it her makeup? Her outfit? Shiny jewelry?
"Oh my," she said in a sweet tone. "I was starting to think that siren was real." Link and Zelda stayed back as Kenya, Ashtrin, and Gloss bowed before the royalty in front of them. Gloss could hear the queen getting off her throne and walking towards them. "You have no need to bow before your queen," Her Highness said. "I thought I made it clear that you didn't have to when I became queen."
"Yes, Your Highness," Ashrin answered. "However, it is to show great amounts of respect."
"You may stand now." The triplets raised their heads in unison. The queen sighed and stood in front of them. "A horrible thing has happened. My family crown-" She patted her uncovered orange hair. "-it was stolen." That's what seemed to different about her! The fact that she wasn't wearing her extravagant crown of jewels.
"Do you have any evidence as who it could be?" Kenya asked.
"The only thing that we have found is golden dust of dragon scales." Gloss then realized something. She slowly took her pouch and poured the golden glitter in her hands. It raised up a bit as she analyzed it. The queen noticed what she was doing and took one of the bags the guards was holding. She poured it into her hand and held it above her lime green eyes. Gloss's gaze quickly darted towards it, and the gold essence floated to her other hand. Eye-balling the dusts, she finally came to a final conclusion.
"They're the same," she said. "And this isn't just any scale dust either."
"What do you mean?" Zelda asked using her magic wand to look at the dust more effectively.
"It's a Jeweled Dragon's dust," Gloss replied. "One of the most deadliest type of dragons in the entire land." Everyone's eyes widened as they realized what they were up against. "I just found this dust not too far from the kingdom, too. And only a Jeweled Dragon can fly as high as above the clouds which makes them more deadly since no human can see or breath beyond them."
"Do you have any information on where the dragon lives, Zelda?" Her Highness asked the sorceress. "At least if they live in the sky or in a simple cave?"
"Actually," Zelda answered. "From the looks of the shade, it seems like the dragon lives up north."
"What place would there be that's okay for a dragon to live without being noticed by civilians in the north?" Ashtrin asked. "There are only forests there. I'd assume that their shine would give away their position."
"The caves," Gloss blurted.
"What?" Link said. "What caves are there in the forests?"
"One day, I was asked to search the Northern forests for signs of bandits near the area," she said looking towards Link. "As I was doing so, it turns out that there were a few caves near the polar caps."
"Wouldn't the dragon just freeze?" Ken wondered. "From simple studies, it tells that dragons can't keep their own body temperature."
"Jeweled Dragons are different. They can easily adapt to the cold. In fact, they prefer to stay in the cold tundras, so that way thieves don't steal their treasures."
"It seems to me that they have an intelligent mind, as well," The queen added. "I can't let you five go if you won't be able to go through that freezing cold and danger." Gloss looked towards Her Highness and bowed. Her wings glowed with a loyal touch as she spoke.
"My queen," she said in an echoing and angelic voice. "We will find your crown. It is a very prized value to your dynasty, and I promise you we'll get it back. We've been on many other expeditions that were much more dangerous than this." The queen gave eyes of sympathy and relief to the bowing angel. She walked over to Gloss and kneeled to her leveled. Gloss looked up in shock as to what the queen was doing.
"To give my respect," she said softly. "I bow to you young Sun Angel. Protector of those in need." And with that, the royal and graceful being bowed to Gloss. Gloss didn't know why she was doing this. She kept thinking that she was just a simple warrior with just an extra add-on of golden wings. She never expected the queen herself to be bowing in front of her.
"Y-y-your Highness," she finally managed to say. "No need to pay me respect. I only fight and protect for the good. Nothing more." The queen looked up to her and smiled sweetly at Gloss.
"That's something to respect, my dear," she whispered. "Not many have that power, and I am glad to have you here in the Kingdom. You and your good friends." And with that note, Link, Zelda, Kenya, Ashtrin, and Gloss had permission to leave the castle. Gloss was still in shock by what had happened.
