Chapter Twenty
Gloss coughed and gasped for air as everyone was still shocked to see her moving. To see her alive. Ashtrin hugged her sister tightly. Kenya did as well. Zelda and Link joined in, too.
"Oh Heavens, Gloss," Zelda said. "We thought you were dead. Dead forever."
"Seriously," Link said while his voice cracked. "D-don't do something like that again. Y-y-you hear me?"
Even though Link was crying, Gloss decided not to mention it. Everything had become so strange these past few days that receiving a simple embrace from everyone seemed different. It seemed... heartwarming.
She rose from the ground, suddenly. Looking down at her friends and sisters, this golden light appeared from her hands. She looked at the spheres of power and saw a pair of golden wings. Unusually knowing how to use this, she put her arms out to the side.
The glowing essences circled down Gloss' arms, leaving trails of white- sparkles also fell from the light down to the ground. They then spun around her body, face and head. Gloss felt herself changing completely.
Her hair went in many twists and turns, but it felt good and relaxing. Her clothing was lighter, but it still felt the same as if she were wearing her mother's dress; comforting and welcoming. Her arms had this cold spiral of something along them, but it felt natural to have them on. Her shoes were no longer the boots she normally wore, but instead they felt more like angelic sandals.
When she gracefully and slowly stepped onto the ground, Gloss felt like a different person. She looked to everyone, and their mouths were gaped open with shock and awe. She looked at herself, and she could understand why.
Gloss's dress was a knee-length, light golden color outfit with a belt that went around her waist and held her sword. Her shoes were leather sandals with tiny diamonds that dotted the straps. Along her arms was this silver, vine-like pattern. It curled around her index finger like a ring, and it was flexible.
Her eyes had winged eye-liner along the edges of her lids, It made her silver eyes sparkled like stars. Her hair was tied up in this bun. Around it was this headpiece that dipped at the sides of her head and came up at the middle of her forehead.
Finally, behind her, large and golden wings stretched out. They illuminated with a Heavenly essence, and they seemed stronger than her old ones. Even with all of this, she still thought of herself as who she was.
The moment was short-lived when she heard someone shouting.
"Dalton!" Aldis's voice cracked. "Dalton, wake up! Please!"
Quickly turning towards him, her eyes widened when she saw Dalton. He was pale and looked fragile and weak. His blonde hair turned gray at the tips, and his chest wasn't raising up and down. Gloss walked over to both of the boys.
She kneeled in front of Aldis, and when he raised his head, his watery, blue eyes widened. He bowed his head to her, in respect, but she touched his shoulder.
"Please," she said, her voice echoing like the other Elemental Angels' voices did. "There's no need to do that."
"I'm so sorry, Gloss," he whispered while looking back up. "I... I put-"
"I already know what happened, Aldis," she stopped him. "And I think I know what happened to Dalton as well."
The action being familiar to her, Gloss put her hand over Dalton's forehead. She saw him and Aldis fighting over something.
"So, when you said the priest asked you for something," Dalton spoke. "You really left to get some sort of wine and potion to make Gloss lose against me?!"
"I-I-I didn't know she was going to fight a dragon!" Aldis weakly stated. "I didn't even know she was going to be that dizzy and weakened!"
"You shouldn't have done that in the first place," Dalton replied while getting in his friend's face. "Now, I don't even think I can trust you."
With hurt being on Aldis's face, he watched as Dalton went over to Gloss' limp body. There, he kneeled to her level and grabbed her hand. He then began reciting this spell. Gloss wasn't able to hear it, but suddenly, everything became bright.
Everything then went dark when Dalton was losing his life.
And it was all because of her.
Still looking at poor Dalton's face, in the corner of Gloss' eye, she saw her pouch begin to illuminate. She took it in one hand and opened it. The Jeweled Dragon's dust was still there. Gloss then began to remember something. The dust could heal any wound and can even bring back life!
She slowly brought down his head and poured the magical dust into the palm of her hand. It stuck on like there was some sort of glue, so she took some on her thumb and wrote a word on his forehead.
Zhizn
Life.
It faded into Dalton's skin, and it began to gain some color. His hair began to turn blonde again, and his arms were gaining some strength and power. He began to open his blue eyes. At first, he saw Gloss like some sort of being from the Ether. Although she was the Sun Angel, he didn't recognize Gloss as... Gloss.
"A-an angel?" he said hoarsely.
"I might be one," Gloss replied with a sigh of relief. "But I don't wish to be called that."
"...Gloss?"
Dalton sat up and stared at her face. It was the same expression as everybody else's. She did look very much different, but it didn't feel much of a shock seeing herself the way she is now.
"Am I... alive?" he said. "This isn't real."
Trying to be funny, Aldis then smacked Dalton in the face, playfully.
"You're not thinking of the angel, Dalton," Aldis said. "You're seeing her now and here."
Dalton rubbed his cheek but didn't laugh along. Instead, his face turned away from Gloss and glared at Aldis for his doings. Gloss just got up and shook her head slowly.
"I'll have to have a word with you, Aldis," she said while crossing her arms. "But in the meantime, you may leave to your quarters."
Aldis bowed once more and ran out of the arena. Just then, the queen came behind Gloss and spoke.
"Well," she said while adjusting her crown. "There's quite of bit of explaining you must do."
She then bowed in front of Gloss. Shocked, Gloss took a couple of steps back. When she looked at her sisters and friends, they were also bowing before her. She looked at the people that were entering the arena, and they also were giving her the respect. When she heard Dalton shakily getting up to bow, she helped him up and stopped him.
She stopped everyone from bowing.
"Please," she said while holding up her hand. "I might be the Sun Angel, but... you all do not need to bow before me."
"Y-you're the Sun Angel?" Dalton exclaimed while wincing from his pains. "Well, I shouldn't be surprised. You old wings gave it away."
"I didn't know that they meant something until recently. Now, you need to be healed."
"I've got that," Zelda spoke. "I'll take good care of this one."
Gloss smiled at her friend and carefully walked with Dalton to her. Zelda put his arm over her shoulders and walked away with him. Before leaving the arena, however, He looked back at Gloss and smirked.
