Chapter Six

Gloss woke up with an pounding headache. She pushed on her head to stop it, but it wasn't leaving anytime soon. She then looked around and noticed that she was in a small room. The walls were a light tan shade, the small fireplace was black with ash and soot, and the bed she was on was nice and soft. The door opened, suddenly, and Zelda appeared.

"Oh," she said. "You're awake."

"What h- Ow!" Gloss said recalling the headache.

"Here." Zelda poured her some sort of tea in a cup. "Kenya said that you might have a hard time continuing with the pain that was about to come, so I decided to make you some of my favorite Jasmine tea." She handed Gloss the white cup, and she nodded in a thank you.

She put her lips to the cup and was immediately overwhelmed with this sweet taste. It tasted like many favorite fruits of Gloss into one hot drink.

"Mmm," Gloss said. "No wonder it's your favorite. You've always enjoyed exotic flavors."

"A fellow wizard friend actually made me try it. I was in the village of Spole, and she let me try some of the tea. Ever since, it's possibly one of the only things I drink frequently."

"Where are the others?" Gloss asked.

"Ah! Ken and Ashtrin decided to go get some supplies, and Link..."

"What about Link?"

"Oh, you know him. He's probably off flirting with the women of the town." As she said that, Gloss could catch a tint of jealousy in her voice. Zelda and Link have been friends since they were children. They studied together, went in the same interning year, and they even got jobs in the same kingdom! That doesn't happen often. "Why are you giving me that look?"

"What look?" Gloss said.

"Every time someone says something, you go into this sort of trance. It's almost as if you're thinking through something." A smirked played at Zelda's pink lips.

"What?"

"It's Dalton, isn't it?"

"What?! Why would you think I'm thinking about him?"

"You are the only person, aside from Aldis, that talks to him frequently. Not only that, but Link saw you speaking to him in the forest as well."

"First off, I only speak to him when he causes trouble- which is often mind you. Second, what are you getting to here?" She asked curiously.

"Gloss.... I think you like him."

"Wait, WHAT? Out of all people, you think Dalton?" Zelda's eyebrows raised. Gloss always had some sort of feeling that her friend was just trying to mess with her. But this is just ridiculous! "I'm not even interested in a relationship!"

"You need to start somewhere," Zelda answered with teasing in that line.

"Zelda," Gloss warned.

"I'm just joking! My Heavens, I'd have thought that you would at least blush." Gloss was just annoyed now. "Anyways, if you need me, I'll be in the plaza. I need to find some herbs for my potions back at Arendelle." As she closed the door, Gloss stuck her tongue out like a child. She never thought that being in a relationship with a man was necessary at this age. She was only 15.

Gloss decided to get up and go around town. She washed her face and dried it with a soft cloth that was left for her. She took her dagger with her, just in case, and headed out of the hotel.

The crowd was unbearable. People kept shoving each other to get to the small shops along the roads, and the scent of someone smoker arose in the air. Gloss was just disgusted by this, and she sped her walking speed. What made her slow down was the sound of a familiar name.

"Oh, Linky," A maiden said. "You're so charming!"

"I know," Link responded. "I'm just too irresistible." Gloss then went into one of the abandoned alleyways, and camouflaged with the area. She put her wings in a compacted manner and sneaked over to the giggling of young women. When the sound was close, she nearly laughed at the sight. Link was laying on a hammock with girl with bright, colorful flower crowns on, and bright dresses on.

"Ah, yes," Link said. "I remember saving a girl. She had hair as golden as gold itself. Her eyes bluer than the sky and ocean, and they sparkled more than the stars. She was under attack from a witch, and I got her out of that situation with no weapons."

That story was actually true. When Zelda and Link first came into Arendelle, Kenya, Ash, and Gloss were the first people they met. The three were still interns for being royal guards, and on their break Zelda had told them the exact same story. Only, she didn't have the details Link was giving of her.

"Wow!" The one with a light blue dress said dreamily. "That's so brave of you."

"And I'm shocked that you're flirting with these girls, Link," Gloss interupted.

"Gloss?!" he said falling off his hammock. "I was.... uh..... just talking to these lovely ladies." Gloss raised her brow with fake suspicion. She smirked at the blushing elf. "I'm serious!"

"You're just about as serious as the queen's clown," she replied. "Now, c'mon. We need to meet up at the hotel with the others."

"R-r-right. Well, ladies. It was nice knowing you three."

"It was nice knowing you, brave knight," the one with a white dress said. Gloss was about to puke on the inside. She didn't like how those girls acted around her friend. All giggly and fancied up for a kiss. It made her wonder on just how do people fall in love with characteristics like that? That always remained a question in Gloss' head.

"What was with you interrupting me?" Link asked as they were walking to the hotel. "What? Are you jealous that it wasn't you I wasn't swooning over?"

"Ugh," Gloss said disgusted. "Don't even get me started on this topic."

"I'm shocked that you still haven't become interested in anyone. I mean, you've been in Arendelle for two years, yet nothing has sparked in your heart! How is that possible?!"

"I'm just a late bloomer, I suppose."

"I think you might have an early chance, actually."

"Why do you say that?"

"Dalton."

"Oh my Ether, you have no idea how annoyed I was from hearing Zelda talk about him."

"She thinks you two should be together?" Link chuckled. "She must really want you to like someone."

"Well, I'm not going to like anyone soon, and I certainly will NOT get married."

"Reason?"

"I'm a guard, Link. I don't have time for that."

"I'm a guard, and I'm flirting with the ladies."

"It's different for men. At least you won't have to carry a child for nine months."

"Whoa! Slow down there, Gloss!"

"I wasn't intending anything."

"It sounded like it."

"You're dirty."

"I know I am, darling," he replied flirtatiously. Gloss shoved him as he laughed at the tease. Although he was joking, she still wondered about her future life. Gloss was a guard, yes, but did that mean she wouldn't have a family? Did it mean that she wouldn't have time to talk with friends? Being a guard really did create some sacrifices for a future.

"Gloss?" Link said waving a hand in front of her.

"What?" Gloss answered. "What is it?"

"Zoning out once more."

"You and Zelda are linked."

"Ha! Linked. Get it?"

"You are horrible."

"I-" Gloss then got out her dagger and pointed it to Link's neck. His pupils shrinked to a small dot as Gloss spoke.

"Say that again, and I'll be sure to get you next time," she threatened.

"W-whoa! C-c-calm d-down, Gloss. I was o-o-only k-kidding." She quickly took her weapon off his neck and put it in her boot. She walked off, with her wings fluttering, leaving poor Link in a petrified stance.

A/N: I feel so bad for Link right now. Coora was helping me edit and I was teasing her on the inbox on how she doesn't have a crush yet and she just decided to write this in because she was so annoyed! Rule #1: Never bother K.C.T about a crush. XD I mean Gloss' character is based off of Coora. Cheers~
