Chapter Seventeen

The obstacle course was done being used for the day, and everyone was commanded to go to the courtyard arena. Gloss felt a little better after sitting down, but her wooziness was still present. She thought she could just sit down and watch, so she didn't stress over it too much. But it still made her anxious.

She stood at the area she and the group were suppose to stand and bit her nails. She hasn't done this bad habit since she was an intern. It was always an act she did whenever she was nervous for a certain event. She would bite her fingers until they were nubs, and she instantly stopped chewing them when she noticed it. Even now.

"Are you okay Gloss?" Link asked while in his basic iron armor. "You haven't bitten your nails in a long time. Something wrong?"

"It's nothing, Link," Gloss lied. "I'm just..."

"Thinking if one of us is gonna hurt your lover?" he finished.

"W-what?!" she spoke a bit startled. "What lover?"

"You know who I'm speaking of."

"Dalton? Really?"

"Pfft, no. The Ethereal Angel, Adam. Of course I'm talking about Dalton!"

"But why him? I don't understand."

"Have you been blind this whole time? He constantly blushed when someone mentioned you, and he saved and took care of you when we weren't there; he's done a lot for you."

"And what of the fact that he and Aldis have done immature pranks on the people of Arendelle?"

"Do you only see him doing those things?"

"No... but he does it so often. I still can't believe the Queen's guards haven't banished him and Aldis for that."

"Because I made sure of that," Link answered a bit offended. "Those two are more than you think they are, Gloss. Even if you see them as two jesters, they are more than that."

Suddenly, the trumpets signaled that Link was about to go onto the battle grounds.

"You should go," Gloss spoke. "Your interns are probably getting more and more nervous by not showing up."

"Just be sure to remember what I said about those two," he said while picking up his sword and shield. "Who knows? You might have something for Dalton later."

Gloss shook her head as Link left out to the arena. She sighed and though of what he said. Dalton has been kind to her these past couple weeks, and she really owes him. Although Link says he has feelings for her, she doesn't think she'd ever be able to share any with Dalton. She's never felt anything for him before, and it'll possibly never happen.

As Gloss began to walk towards Kenya, Zelda, and Ash, her nausea came back, and she had to hold the wall for stability. She held her head as the world began to spin, and she struggled to stay up. She heard someone walking up to her.

"Gloss," Zelda's voice spoke as if she were underwater. "Are you alright?"

Gloss looked at her friend wearily, but it made her sick to even raise her head. She merely squeezed her eyes shut and held her head down.

"No..." she squeaked. "I don't know what's going on."

"Hold on."

With her arm flung over Zelda's shoulder, Gloss limped over to a chair on their balcony. Even though her eyes were closed, she could still tell that her friend was trying to look for some sort of potion for her. She then felt cold glass to her lips.

"Drink this," Zelda spoke. "It'll help with the nausea."

Tilting the drink, Gloss tasted the sweet liquid. She cleared her throat and pushed the bottle away. After a while, she felt the affects of the potion take place, so she chose to watch the guards test. Kenya was up next, and Gloss noticed that she was fighting Dalton.

She noticed how easily he was getting through her attacks, and it surprised her when Ken was on the ground to his blade at her throat in just a couple of minutes. Her eyes widened when she noticed he wasn't even tired.

"That kid..." Link panted. "Is... something. Whew! I'm still sweating from that round."

"How long has it been?" Gloss asked.

"About... forty minutes since I last spoke with you."

"I was out that long?" she whispered to herself.

"What's that?"

"Oh, nothing."

Her eyes just darted towards Dalton getting a pat on the back by Aldis as he made his way to his seat. He made eye contact with her and gave a goofy smile. Gloss rolled her eyes and shook her head. Suddenly, her head began to pound as the wooziness smacked into her system once more.

Stumbling back, Link caught her midway. The pain became so bad that Gloss completely forgot of the outside world. All she heard were fast-forwarded and warping voices around her as two other pairs of arms took her arms over their shoulders and walked her somewhere.

Out of nowhere, the sound of a bloodcurdling scream woke her out of her trance.
