chapter 14
Mal pov
As I walked back towards my friends, my mind was a whirlpool of thoughts and emotions. Sabrina wanted me to join her family for lunch, and a part of me was thrilled. But another part of me was terrified. Would they accept me? Could I ever fit into their world?
When I reached the spot where Evie, Jay, and Carlos were hanging out, I hesitated for a moment before calling out to them. "Hey, guys. I, uh, have something to ask you."
Evie looked up from her phone, curious. "What's up, Mal?"
"Sabrina's family invited me to lunch. And they said you could come too," I explained, feeling a bit of the anxiety lift as I saw their encouraging faces.
"Really?" Jay said, raising an eyebrow. "A family lunch? That sounds...interesting."
Carlos grinned. "I could eat."
Evie nudged him playfully. "You can always eat, Carlos."
I chuckled, feeling a bit more at ease. "So, are you in?"
Evie nodded. "Absolutely. Let's go make a good impression."
With my friends by my side, I felt a surge of confidence. Together, we made our way back to where Sabrina and her family were waiting. When we arrived, Sabrina's parents were already seated at a beautifully set picnic table, while Sabrina and her sister Emma were setting out the food.
Sabrina beamed when she saw us. "Hey, guys! Come on, join us."
We took our seats, and as we started eating, the conversation flowed easily. Sabrina's family was polite, but a bit cautious. Her dad, David, asked us about our time at Auradon Prep, while her mom, Snow White, tried to hide her curiosity about the Isle and kept looking at Evie since she was her step sister. Emma, on the other hand, was direct and straightforward, asking us all sorts of questions about our lives and experiences.
"So, Mal," Emma said, looking directly at me. "What's it like, being the daughter of Maleficent?"
I glanced at Sabrina, who gave me an encouraging nod. "It's...complicated," I admitted. "Growing up on the Isle, we were taught that being evil was the only way to survive. But being here, in Auradon, I've started to see that there's another way. That maybe, we can choose to be different."
Snow White smiled warmly. "Everyone deserves a chance to be the best version of themselves. It's not about where you come from, but who you choose to be."
Her words struck a chord with me, and I felt a sense of hope. Maybe there was a chance for us to truly belong here. As the lunch continued, we shared stories and laughter, and for the first time, I felt like I was part of something bigger, something good.
After lunch, we all headed to the main event of Family Day. There were even games
how about a game of croquet? David asked
Uh..sure. I said
Have you played before? Sabrina asked
No. I said
No? You'll be fine. Sabrina said as she joined her parents while I stood on the sidelines watching Jay and Carlos join in on the game and noticed snow white finally talking to Evie
Hello there. A voice said as I saw a older woman in a pink outfit
Hi I said
Now, have we met? You look familiar. The woman said
No, I don't think so. I'm new. I'm sort of like a... Transfer student. I said
Oh, yes. She said as aria walked up to her
Grammy. Aria said with a smile
Uh oh...
Oh, Aria! Give Grammy a kiss, dear. The woman said
Grammy? I asked
"Sleeping Beauty's mother." Aria said looking at me then looking at her Grandmother "Grammy, I don't think you want to be talking to this girl. Unless you feel like taking another hundred-year nap."
What? You! How are you here? And how have you stayed so young? Aria's grandmother said thinking I was my mother
Queen Leah, It's okay. Maleficent is still on the island. This is her daughter, Mal. Don't you remember my proclamation to give the new generation a chance? Sabrina said rushing over before things got out of hand
A chance to what, Ben? Destroy us? Come on. You remember, don't you? The poison apples. And the spells. Spells. My daughter... Was raised by fairies because of your mother's curse. So her first words, her first steps, I missed it all! You mustn't trust her. Queen leah said as Emma spoke up
Now wait just a damn minute. If I remember correctly maleficent said the sleeping curse wouldn't come in to play until Aurora was 16. You didn't have to miss a damn thing. You could have kept Aurora as a baby but instead you you sent her away so don't blame that on maleficent or Mal because it's all your fault Emma said as Leah looked at Emma offended which I could tell Emma didn't give a rats ass about it
I'm so so...I started to say as Charlotte got between me and Leah
Go away! Stay away from her! Charlotte said
Charlotte, don't do this. Sabrina said
They were raised by their parents, Sabrina. What do you think villains teach their kids? Huh? Kindness? Fair play? No way, okay? Uh-uh. You stole another girl's girlfriend. Charlotte said
Charlotte.... Sabrina said in a warning tone
"Oh. You enjoy hurting people. And you," Charlotte said looking at Jay then turned her attention to Evie "you're nothing but a gold digger and a cheater."
Mirror, mirror, in my hand, who's the biggest bitch in the land? Evie asked as it showed Charlotte
What? Come on! Charlotte said knocking Evie's hand out of her face
Back off, Charlotte. All right? Back off! Theses hands are rated E for everybody I don't give a shit if your a girl. Jay said as Evie sprayed Charlotte with the sleeping perfume that I had given to her to use for our plan to seel the wand at sabrina's crowning ceremony
Charlotte! Charlotte? Charlotte! Evie did something to Charlotte! Aria shouted
Wake up. Check if she's okay. Lonnie said
Mal come on Evie said as we started to leave
Guys! Sabrina said not wanting us to go
Jay! I said as he caught up
Sabrina pov
I watch the scene unfold and it wasn't good at all.
I feared something like this would happen. Dad said
It's not there fault dad. I said
No it's not their fault it's yours. Dad said
What!? How is this my fault? Did I tell Charlotte and Aria to act like bitches? no! I said upset that dad had the audacity to blame this on me "You know what? I'll see you at the coronation....maybe."
