Amneris' mind was blank as her head ached. She could not remember anything from last night but she was strangely sore. And it was not just her head. She was sitting at the table with a plate of food before her, rubbing her temples as she tried to recall what happened. It only made her headache worse. Looking at the food made her wonder if food would make it better or worse.

Leonidas walked into the room. He looked between her and the plate before bursting into laughter. He sat across from her a few minutes later, beginning to pick at the food on his own plate. "Feeling better?" he asked with a smirk.

She flipped him off.

He placed his hand of his heart in mock-outrage. "Well, that is what you get for drinking too much."

She gave him an irritated look. No doubt he knew exactly what had happened last night. She wanted to ask but thought that would display her lack of memory. In the end, Amneris threw a grape towards the man. "Why are you here? Shouldn't you be off failing to join the army?"

"How did you-"

"Training ring." She picked up another grape, twisting it between her fingers before throwing it into the air and catching it in her mouth. "Your father doesn't scream 'fighter'. You don't either," she added. "But you have more of the feel than he does."

"I - should I be insulted?"

"Probably." Amneris glanced towards him. "You never answered my question."

"Oh. Right. I am to accompany you to see the Emperor."

Of course, you are. It took all of her self-control to not roll her eyes. Why could she not be at home with a good book? Why did she have to be the one to come to this world? She never liked the many Earths throughout the multiverse. They made her feel so . . . so . . .

"Are you okay?" Leonidas asked. "You have turned pale."

She laughed. "Oh, I'm fine. Just questioning existence. Nothing new there."

"You do not wish to be here."

"It's that obvious?"

It was a stupid question. She had protested against coming to this world but Lvaane insisted she be the one to do it. Something about it being the duties of the current ruler, not the previous ruler. At least, that is what she thought he had said. She could not remember that either. Oh, how she hated diplomacy and inter-universal relations. They were difficult and boring.

"Let's just say I'd rather have a sword any day."

"Leonidas' brows rose. "You are good with a sword?"

"Well, yeah."

"Prove it."

Amneris felt her lips twitch. "Is that a challenge, mortal?"

The man was grinning like crazy. "That it is."
