Chapter Thirty-Seven : The End
{Sorry for the delay! I've been super busy. :) Enjoy!}
Almost two weeks after Badr and I made up, Badr was able to finalize our guardianship over Ilma and Aleena. He had gotten a call early in the morning from our lawyer. His parents signed the papers without much argument and sent them back. He finished talking to the lawyer and ended the call, placing his phone on the side table.
He fell back onto the bed. "Salah," He breathed, turning to me with the widest of smiles. He took my hand. "We did it."
I smiled softly, leaning over and kissing his cheek. "We had Allah (SWT) by our side, and I had you. Of course we did."
He grinned and sat up, wrapping his arms around me in a tight hug. "We have to celebrate!" He paused and pulled away. "Oh! With mama, baba, and the rest of the family! It'll be so much fun!"
I laughed softly. "Sure, but that's a long drive."
He hummed and tapped his chin. "How about we all meet up at the beach? Tomorrow? And today, lets take the girls out to eat." He smiled, excitement shining in his eyes as he spoke quickly.
I shook my head with a smile. "Okay, okay. I'll call mama." After I asked my family if they wanted to go to the beach the next day, I put my phone away and picked out an outfit for myself and Badr.
"Hey, Sal! Let's go wake the girls." He walked into the room after having washed up.
"Okay, let me wash up first." I kissed his cheek and rushed into the bathroom, quickly brushing my teeth and washing my face.
Badr waited for me by their door. I shot him a smile and opened the door, entering the room quietly. He sat down beside Ilma and I sat down beside Aleena. I shook her gently. "Aleena, love." I spoke softly.
She groaned quietly, her eyes fluttering open. "Bhabi?" She muttered, tiredly.
"Good morning." I smiled and kissed her forehead. "Hurry and get ready, we're going out to eat."
"Okay." She rubbed her eyes, sitting up slowly.
I looked over at Badr, finding Ilma sitting up in her bed. He got up and walked to the door. "Okay, you two. Hurry and meet us at the door in... 15." He winked and walked out.
I smiled at the two of them and walked back to our room, changing into a long sleeve white shirt with a long flowing, sleeveless brown cardigan. I slipped on a pair of black jeans and tied a brown scarf. I grabbed my phone and looked to Badr, who was ready and wearing a light blue t-shirt and jeans.
We met the girls at the door and walked to our car. Aleena was the first to speak up. "Where are we going?" She hummed, looking out the window.
"Yeah, and why do you two seem so happy?" Ilma asked.
"You'll find out." Badr teased.
A couple minutes later, we pulled up to an IHop. Ilma smiled and clapped excitedly. "Ah, I love IHop!" She jumped out of the car.
"I'm more curious about why we're here." Aleena shrugged as we walked in.
After ordering, Badr took my hand with a smile. "Lets tell them together."
I nodded. "Okay. Lets." I turned to the two girls, "The lawyer called this morning."
He grinned. "Ami and Abu signed the papers, we're legally your guardians!"
A smile broke out on Aleena's face. "Oh- Oh my god, really? Mashallah! Mashallah!" Her eyes began to water.
Ilma rushed over to Badr, hugging him tightly. Tears spilt out of her eyes. "Thank you, Allah. Thank you, Allah." She kept whispering as Aleena hugged me.
I kissed her forehead. "So today,"
Badr finished my sentence. "We celebrate."
