Timeless Answer

At a distance
a door stands open
and I see
what seems impossible

These actions
These last shadows
of a retreating world
frame the window
on tomorrow

At a distance
the glass being dark
reveals little
of the year ahead

These memories
inspiring causes new
and journeys
into even darker
corners

They linger
on the precipice
of a rise or fall
into the unknown

How can the light
of stars long gone
inspire and direct
these endeavors
and these dreams?

At a distance
can we send our light
through the mirror
to another time?

Will they see
who we are today
and find their own
ageless wonder
and timeless answer?
