Part 19 - Mother Katherine & Father No Name

*Katherine's POV*

"I...I'm pregnant." I whispered to my very concerned husband before me.

For what seemed like a lifetime, he just sits there with a blank expression on his face. Now it's my turn to be very concerned...well...I already have been all day since I took the pregnancy test and making myself sick in pushing myself to tell him straight away when I could. But the way he's just sitting there in complete silence is actually freaking me out...

I wave my hand in front of his face, he looks like he's in a trance. Oh no, I broke my husband.

Or so I thought, until he gets up and starts jumping around like a little child with a big goofy grin on his face.

My eyes widen, my heart nearly jumping out of my chest. I want to slap him for making me think his silence was a bad thing but I think twice and giggle at his obvious happy reaction.

He then turns his attention straight towards me, leaning down towards me. He gasps.

"Oh my god...we're...we're gonna...oh my!" He stutters in excitement.

I watch him get overwhelmed with happiness, I've never seen him this happy before. It's almost foreign to me, it's actually making tears stream down my face. Especially after him losing his first child, I can only imagine how happy he is right now.

He comes and kneels down in front of me, taking my hands in his. Smiling up at me, he wipes away my tears.

"Aww baby." He coos.

"I'm just, so happy. I mean...I was so nervous telling you, but seeing you this happy has melted my heart." I cry out and smile.

He chuckles and pulls me into a warm embrace, wrapping his arms around my waist. I wrap my arms around his shoulders, burying my face in his neck, planting a soft kiss there and letting out a huge sigh in relief. I didn't think it was possible but I think I've just fallen harder in love...

Moments later we both pull away, he looks up at me, wiping away the tears from his own eyes. We both sit back on the couch, he wraps his arm around me and looks down at me.

"You were nervous to tell me?" He asks.

"Yeah the typical nerves but also because of what happened with your first child." I admit.

He gives me a warm smile and gives me a soft kiss on my forehead, moving some of my hair behind my ear.

"He'll always be with me. But I'm very very excited for our little one." He grins, placing his hand on my stomach.

I giggle, placing my hand over his.

"I'll have to use that playground before he baby arrives." He pouts.

I roll my eyes.

"You and that playground of yours." I laugh.

"Hey! It's fun. Come and see for yourself." He pokes his tongue at me before removing himself from the couch.

"Let me get changed first." He says.

After he comes back from changing, I follow him to the door and he opens it, we step out. He gives me a smirk, I glare at him, what's he up to. It's been two seconds and he's already up to no good.

"Last one there is a rotten egg!" He yells.

Then he starts running.

I just stand there and watch him run, trying to keep a straight face. Usually I'm always up for a good running race but I wanted to test something, I start walking to the playground. Once I reach my destination he looks at me.

"Took your time." My smart ass husband remarks.

"I wanted to test something, you really do look shorter when you run." I comment.

He rolls his eyes and mimics my comment in my voice. I scoff and go sit on a swing, he goes and sits down.

"So our baby brewing in your tummy is the reason you're out of whack lately." He says.

I raise an eyebrow, snapping my head in his direction.

"I beg your pardon?" I ask.

"Your mood swings, like with Jack yesterday. You went from zero to one hundred with the anger." He comments.

"That's normal." I shrug.

"Jack didn't seem to think so, I saw the way he looked at you then just left." He says.

I sigh.

"Alright fine, I got moody. So what." I shrug.

"Then hours later you came into the bedroom and rode me like there was no tomorrow." He casually slips.

I almost choked on air.

"A girl has needs." I defend and get up from the swing. I don't need this.

I start walking towards the slide, I can feel his eyes on me, and the fact he's slightly leaning to get a look.

I stop walking to look at him and he sits back, swinging away while whistling.

I glare at him, putting my hands on my hips. I walk over to him.

"You ain't so slick." I say.

"I may not be slick but you getting thick. Another sign I should have picked up on." He points out.

I try to keep my straight face and glare at him but fail, I smirk and chuckle. His smile always gets to me, little shit.

"If you noticed that why didn't you say anything?" I ask.

"I just thought you were doing squats or something, I'm not complaining though." He wiggles his eyebrows.

I roll my eyes playfully, walking directly up to him. He reaches out to grab my waist, I run my fingers through his soft hair. He closes his eyes and moans softly at my touch, smiling he bites his lip.

"That feels nice." He says.

"I know, you always like it when I massage your head. Because of your headaches, usually the headache is Jerome but he isn't here so..." I shrug.

He laughs and lightly squeezes my waist.

"No Jerome is our pet remember?" He reminds me.

"But we haven't got him registered, or micro-chipped." I say.

He opens his eyes and looks up at me, his eyebrows knitted together.

"What's the point? The punk runs off anyway, do you wanna get fined?" He asks.

I shake my head and laugh.

A comfortable silence falls between the two of us, for awhile we both just look into each other's eyes. He then lays his head against my belly, humming something. He looks back up at me with a loving smile.

"I can't believe we're gonna have a baby." He says.

"I know. But there's one thing we should probably talk about...we don't have to talk about it right now but definitely before the baby is born." I say.

He raises his eyebrows.

"Oh? What's that?" He asks.

"Your name, for the baby's birth certificate..." I bring up.
