⚞TW: Panic/Fear, Abandonment(?)⚟
I...
Was alone ever since I could remember.
And nothing but this necklace was mine.
Abandoned by my parents since birth, is what they told me. I grew up in the orphanage just outside the Forest of Tranquility.
. . . They didn't treat me all that well.
So, yes. I fled from the orphanage at the very young age of 8 years, and I fended for myself.

One day, a few months after I had run away, I was on my way to Mystake's tea shop. I absolutely adored Mystake, she was the sweetest human I'd ever met. I had made it a habit of going to her shop every Thursday. We have grown close and she has taught me so, so many things that I never had a chance to learn.
But of course I never told Mystake about leaving the orphanage, I always lied and said that I was doing grocery shopping with my mother. Oh, and by mother, I meant myself. And by shopping, I meant stealing.
I wasn't proud, but I had to survive somehow.
I opened the door of the tea shop, the tiny bell at the top of the door jingling as I do, and when I walked inside the scent of herbs filled my nose. I see Mystake at the counter. But today was different compared to the last ones, instead of being all by herself she was talking to an extremely old looking man. He wore a hat like hers and carried a bamboo staff, his long white beard hung down his white robe, almost reaching the black gi belt around his waist.
A friend of hers I presume.
Mystake looks past the man as she hears the bell and her face noticeably lights up. "Ah, Y/n. I was wondering when you'd be stopping by." She says in her usual croaking yet sweet voice. The man turns around and looks at me with a warm smile. I can't stop myself from getting a weird vibe from him. It's not weird in a bad way, well, actually, maybe it is, but it's still weird.
The way he looked into my eyes made me feel like he could stare into my soul, like he could read my mind. But I still provided my timid smile to him.
The old man bought his tea and walked out the door, giving me a small glance as he did so.
Mystake and I sat down at a table and talked. We talked for at least two hours. Just talking about anything and everything while eating some cookies she had made, until the sun began to set.
I stand in the doorway, about to leave, and smile at Mystake. "Bye, Mystake. I'll see you next Thursday."
Mystake smiled back and gave a small nod, "See you soon, and please, be careful walking home."
I smile. "Will do." Mystake gives me another quick nod and I walk out the door, closing it behind me.
I began my walk to my house, and by house I mean the abandoned camping site I had found in the woods on the edge of Jamanakai village.
I arrived, worn from the day of walking all over Jamanakai. I go over to one of the trees and start hanging the bag of stolen food up in it, so animals can't get to it. I go to tie it up when out of the darkness of the woods a voice comes.
"I am quite surprised an 8 year old is so good at taking care of oneself..."
I let out a startled shout, my shock causing me to drop the rope holding up the bag and making it come flying down and spilling the stolen goods on the ground. I whip around to see the same old man from the tea shop sitting against a tree behind me, sipping tea. Who even is he?
My eyes widen and my breathing completely stops, hands shaking, heart beating so hard that it hurts. What if this man was in contact or worked with the orphanage and he's here to take me back? Or to a foster home. Or literally anything could go wrong with a stranger versus a frail kid like me.
I am completely shaken by the sudden man. But I of course, doing my best, use a somewhat stern tone when I speak to him
I think I failed.
"W-..Who are you??"
"I am Wu. And you?" The old man, now known as Wu, asks in the most casual manner, sipping his tea again.
I hesitate for a moment or two. "Y/n?" I finally answered, although slowly out of the paranoia I'm experiencing.
Wu nods and stands up. "Come," Is all he says, and begins to trot away. I blink in surprise.
Should I?
I do and I don't know why. I follow close behind, I don't know why but I am deciding listen to this crazy guy. This stranger
Why am I doing this? Why?
I follow him though, my body just slightly relaxing when he doesn't go down the path to the orphanage
We arrive at an extremely long staircase and Wu begins walking up it like it's no problem. I quickly followed, impressed by how he did it with such ease. It wasn't that much of a problem for me to do, but I was still surprised that a man like his age could do it with even less effort than me.
We get to the top of the staircase, revealing a monastery, yet Wu still doesn't speak and walks in, he shows me into a room. The room was fully furnished, a bed, wardrobe, dresser, etc. He gestures his hand around the room and says:
"This is where you'll be staying."
