The Willis Tower

5:52 am, 1 hour and 8 minutes until the end of The Annual Purge.

"Wow! It's so big!" Kelsey said in awe as we stood by the tower entrance.

"Well, at one point in time it was the largest building in the world," I explained. "Of course, it also had a different name back then."

"Oh yeah! Wasn't it called like The Shears Tower?"

"Sears Tower," I corrected. "A lot of Chicago-land people still called it that when they changed the name over 10 years ago."

"Really. Why?"

"I guess they weren't ready for that change."

"Oh."

I then looked at the front doors to the building. Behind those doors was Mark Pierce, the man I've been waiting for all night. The sky was growing brighter, so it was going to be hard to sneak around, but I'm sure that won't be an issue.

"When we go in there, I want you to stay right by me," I told Kelsey. "Understand?"

"Yes!"

"Good."

I then walked to the doors and went inside the tower. I was surprised to see everything in perfect shape. Nothing broken, nothing missing, nothing out of the ordinary. It's as if nobody committed crime here in the last 11 hours. Of course, that was entirely possible.

"Where's Mark's office?" Kelsey asked.

"I'm not sure," I admitted. "Let's look for a mailbox or something."

We then looked around for any sort of clue to Mark's whereabouts. Finally, though, we found a mailbox for Mark, and it said he was on the very top of the tower!

"Well, let's not waste time," I told Kelsey.

We then headed to the elevators to head up. However, when I pressed the button, nothing happened!

"It's like the elevators are shut off!" I said to no one in particular.

"I guess we'll have to take the stairs..." Kelsey mumbled.

We then slowly made our way up the stairs. I was very suspicious at the fact that nobody was anywhere in sight. I was seriously wondering what was up... Finally, we made it to the top of The Willis Tower. I paused to look out the window and was in total awe at the sight! The entire city looked beautiful, save for some building fires in the distance.

"It actually doesn't feel like The Purge," I told Kelsey. "Everything seems so... perfect."

"It does..." Kelsey said with a nod.

I then deeply exhaled and turned a bit to see Mark's office, doors closed and no sign of locks.

"Seems too easy," I murmured.

But I didn't care. I just wanted to get this over with.

"Be careful," Kelsey said with fear.

"I will," I told her.

I then deeply inhaled, placed my hands on the handles, and pushed the doors open.
