Chapter 10: Heaven's Downfall

Welcome back The Puppet Monsters everyone I hope that you enjoy the chapter. Please remember to VOTE and COMMENT it means a lot to me. Also if you enjoy this book them please give Lap of the Gods a try it would mean a lot to me. Truthfully I've been kind of battling with myself if I want to keep updating this book the way it is or give it the Lap of the Gods treatment and just reboot/remake it to fix things while combining this book with the Toymakers vol 1. Honestly, I don't know anymore, so while this book in its current state isn't the most fun for me to write which some of you can kind of tell, I still love it and want to do my best to give you guys what you want. With that said I have gone back and heavily edited chapter 9 so  reread that for a bunch of new content before moving to this chapter. Anyway I love you guys, and I'm sorry I've taken so long~ XOXO BUTTERBALL~

-Taiga-

"Oh don't look at me like that you rabid dog," Millia grumbled as she took a drag off of her cigarette. She glared at me giving Corina's gaze an almost hollow look.

"Get out of my mistress," I snarled, taking a step forward. I glared down at her as I wracked my brain trying to figure out how this was happening.

Opal was hissing at Corina, no Millia, his fur standing on end. His large body seemed to ripple as his claws dug into the countertop.

She sneered at me, the expression twisting Corina's face in a way I absolutely hated. "Or you'll do what? Stab me? No, you prefer more intimate methods like strangulation." Reaching up she patted my cheek. "Let's be honest you mongrel, you won't lay a finger on me. At least while I'm in this body you won't, you value this girl too much,"

She sighed, blowing cigarette smoke off to the side as a scowl spread across her face. "Can't for the life of me figure out why though, she's as helpless as a baby even with magic."

"How are you here? You should be long gone!" I snapped gritting my teeth.

She glanced back up at me before flicking the cigarette to the floor and putting it out. She came a bit closer, a small smirk on her face, "You're right, I should be gone. You killed me, even though I pleaded and begged," she said softly. "Getting rid of me again should be rather easy though, nothing would make me happy then to watch your face as the light leaves this girl's eyes."

"You wouldn't! Leave Corina out of this!" I snapped, my hands clenched into fist as I tried my damnedest to keep from doing something that I knew I would regret. I could feel my claws pierce through my gloves, a small sting ran over my palms, warmth welling up there as my claws dug into my skin.

Milia smirked letting out a small snort. "Look at you, you hate me so much that your form is slipping. Your hair is red and your eyes are amber, aren't you a sorry sight Mikleo."

Something within me seemed to snap and before I knew what I was doing I lunged toward her a growl tearing from my lips. The smirk dropped from her face in an instant and she screamed.

"Matthew! Help!" She screeched like a banshee.

I froze, stumbling back my eyes going wide, nearly panting as Matthew suddenly ran into the room. Matthew looked like hell, his clothes were streaked with blood, various rips and tears littered his clothes, his hair was tangled and he had what looked like claw marks raking across his chest.

"What's wrong Corina?" He asked in between panting breaths.

Instantly she ran to him practically hiding behind him as she stared at me, a look of fear on her face. "I don't know what's wrong, after we killed Bruce, Taiga started acting strange," she told him, just beneath the false fear coating her voice was a slight frantic edge.

"What?" Matthew growled, turning his gaze to me. I could see the accusation clear in his eyes.

"You absolute lying cunt," I hissed as I glared at her. I took a step forward and Matthew glared at me looking ready to attack if I tried anything.

This dumbass, I should've muzzled him along with the collar.

"She is lying to you Matthew or are you just that much of a fool that you can't see that! That's not Corina!" I snapped pointing at Milia who rolled her eyes.

"Have you gone insane? I know my sister!" He yelled at me.

I wanted to tear his throat out the moment he spoke.

Why do I always get stuck dealing with absolute idiots?

Opal meowed softly and I glanced at him, he had returned to his regular size and was in the process of climbing off of the counter.

Wait that's right this fool did everything in front of Opal, he's loyal to Corina above all. Still with that bitch in Corina's body I don't know...

I saw Millia's eyes narrow slightly as she watched Opal. "Let's go Matthew, it's been a long night and I'm exhausted. Dealing all this has been a horrible experience and I just want to sleep," she said suddenly.

"Opal, is Corina here?" I asked the cat immediantly.

"Corina is right here are you blind?" Matthew snapped at me clearly missing the point of the question.

Opal looked directly at Matthew, mouth contorting as he tried to speak. "Shhheeee-" Opal began, a second later I could feel the distinct buzz of magic run along my skin.

There was a small crackling noise like someone playing with a plastic bag then a moment later Opal's eyes became dull and his body limp as it dropped to the floor.

I instantly looked at Millia, my eyes wide but she was ignoring me, a slight scowl on her face as she approached Opal.

That magic did she use Corina's contract to force Opal to change back?

Matthew winced letting out a small hiss as he looked down at his hand. "What was that-"

"Looks like Opal wore himself out," Millia sighed as she gathered him into her arms, for the briefest moment I saw a smirk cross Corina's face. "I'm not surprised considering the strain his body goes through to achieve that form."

Climbing to her feet Millia looked at me. "Come with me Mikleo, I need your help with something."

Invisible strings seemed to tug at my limbs at her order forcing me to follow after her as she turned and left the kitchen.

~~~~
Millia let out a huff as she examined Opal turning his body this way and that as she closely looked at the seams beneath his fur. "Maybe this girl does have a bit of talent," she mumbled as she dangled Opal by his paw in the air.
She glanced up at me suddenly, a scowl on her face. "Look at you, are you afraid to come over here? I can see the rage in your eyes you know, and here I thought the dog muzzle would correct that."
We were in Corina's room, Millia sat on Corina's bed looking down at me. I was sitting on the floor in my demon form after Millia had ordered me to change forms before latching a dog muzzle on me.
I was forced to watch, my fangs biting into the metal bar in my mouth as Millia paraded around wearing Corina's body like a piece of clothing. "I almost feel sorry for her, poor girl has a fool for a brother and a traitorous beast as a lover. Although the outfit she dressed you in did have a certain appeal to it I suppose." Millia said more to herself than me.
She smirked at me before patting her lap. "Come here boy," she called like she was beckoning a pet.
I growled as I glared at her, my teeth digging further into the metal bar. She repeated her actions this time with a bored expression on her face, the metal bar let out a soft groan as it began to bend under the strength of my bite.
As I spat the bits of metal off to the side Millia let out a loud sigh as she rolled her eyes. "Fine ask your questions if that'll make you calm-" Millia suddenly froze her eyes squeezing shut as Opal slipped from her hands.
"S-stop it," she hissed through gritted teeth. "I...won our battle...stop fighting me..."
"Corina! Can you hear me!" I called out as I scrambled to my feet Millia glanced at me with one eye. She raised her hand, I felt the familiar buzz of magic crackle to life across my skin and I was suddenly thrown backwards.
I let out a low growl as my back hit the floor, the throbbing that set in let me know that I would end up having a bruise.
Panting Millia glared at me as she seemed to slowly relax. "That's enough out of you."
