Chapter 1 - Genetically Created

I opened my eyes slowly, the light of the operating table nearly blinding my new eyes. I sat up slowly and my brain kept yelling at my limbs to just run around and touch things. I clenched and unclenched my fist slowly, mesmerized at how I was able to move perfectly at such a young age. I felt my hair gently and couldn’t help but stroke its silky smoothness.

“So this is what it’s like to be alive,” I spoke slowly, still getting used to speech.

I was amazed at how mature my voice sounded; a normal person would never have guessed that I’d only been alive for a couple of minutes.

“So you’re finally awake,” a voice spoke from the corner.

I looked up slowly as a man with shoulder-length pink hair and amber eyes stepped into the light. He wore white rectangular glasses and a white outfit with black stripes here and there.

“I assume you know who I am,” he smiled slightly.

“You are my creator,” I said without hesitation.

“Good girl! And you are?” he asked.

“I am the result of Test 234,” I spoke quietly.

“Hm, it might be more fitting if I gave you a name… Test Subject 234 doesn’t really have a nice ring to it,” he laughed in amusement. “How does Mika sound?”

“I like that name!” I said happily.

“Good. Well come along, Lord Aizen will want to see the results of his latest test,” he said, walking over to me and offering me his arm.

I held onto it as I pulled myself off the table slowly. My feet touched the ground and I slowly put the weight of my body onto them. I took baby steps forward, still clutching onto Szayel’s arm before I managed to get used to walking on my own and then followed along obediently behind him.

We left the lab and proceeded to walk down the palace’s perfectly white corridors. Szayel’s shoes clopped along quietly whereas my bare feet made a small patter as I ran my hand along the walls, a huge smile spread across my face.

We soon came to the end of one corridor and were met with a pair of huge double doors. Szayel knocked tentatively before taking a few steps back so that he was stood behind me.

“Enter,” a quiet voice from the other side answered.

I looked back at my Master as he nodded his head in encouragement. I pushed open the doors and almost immediately I felt an immense surge of intense spiritual pressure. My eyes widened in terror as the sheer force of the pressure forced me onto my knees.

“Lord Aizen! I beg of you Sir, please stop! She is the result of the test we have been working on for the last few months! She is barely an hour old! She hasn’t had the time to learn to deal with spiritual pressure yet!” Szayel begged.

I gasped for breath as I felt as if the air from my lungs had been sucked out. Then it stopped, almost as quickly as it had hit me. I collapsed onto the floor, panting intensely as I tried to collect myself once more.

“I apologize,” the same voice I heard from before spoke once more.

I looked up and noticed that I was in a rather large room with a throne at the top of the room with its back currently faced towards us, hiding the occupant’s identity. The throne then spun around, revealing a young man.

He had brown hair slicked back across his head with a single strand hanging in his face and harsh, piercing brown eyes. He was wearing a similar uniform to Szayel’s, white, but with no black except on the inside of his jacket.

He leaned on his hand casually and gave me a smug grin.

“Have you named her yet?” Lord Aizen asked.

“Yes, my lord. Her name is Mika,” Szayel answered.

“Pleased to meet you Lord Aizen,” I said quietly, bringing myself to my feet and bowing in his direction.

“Tell me one thing; do you know your purpose? Do you know why you were created?” Lord Aizen asked a faint smile on his face.

“My one and only purpose is to serve you, my Lord. I will lay down my life for you and I will do anything that you ask of me, no matter the cost,” I answered, reciting the words that had been etched into my memory as soon as I had opened my eyes.

“A successful experiment then,” Lord Aizen said.

“Yes, my Lord. My thoughts exactly,” Szayel said with a smile.

“Very well. Let’s test your strength to see if the experiment was indeed a success,” Lord Aizen spoke as he stood up and clicked his fingers.

In the blink of an eye a sword appeared in his hand. It was already in its sheath but I could see it had a purple woven pattern on the handle. Strangely, I felt at ease when I looked at the sword, as if it was an old friend that was always there for me.

“This is your sword, my dear,” Lord Aizen said as he threw the sword towards me.

I caught it in my hands and felt a warm feeling wash over the whole of my body. I smiled lightly as I stroked the sword from handle to tip, admiring it from every angle.

Then something strange happened. The room around me faded away and was replaced with a completely empty grassy field. The sword I had been holding had disappeared and I was all alone, a light wind whipping through my hair gently.

“Hello again, old friend,” a familiar voice sounded.

I spun around and immediately saw a huge, jet black wolf stood in front of me. She had a bright yellow lightning bolt on her side that reached all the way down to her tail. She smiled at me, flashing her fangs at me playfully.

“W-who are you?” I asked slowly.

“I knew you’d forget after what those two did to you,” she sighed in a strangely soothing tone.

“I’ve seen you somewhere before…” I said, racking my brain for any trace of a memory, but no such luck.

“It’s alright, child. I don’t expect you to torture yourself with the past. Tell me, do you want to know my name?” she asked, padding towards me slowly.

I nodded slowly, mesmerized at her beauty as the wind danced through her fur slowly.

“My name is Kaminari Ryu Hiroko. I am the Lightning Princess,” she told me, flashing another smile my way.

“My name is Mika,” I replied, smiling back as she sat right in front of me.

“What an interesting name… You were known by a different name when I knew you… But no matter, Mika is a beautiful name, child,” Kaminari laughed lightly.

“Now that I’ve told you my name, when you get back to the real world, I want you to call my name. That’s what Aizen wants to see, your true power,” she told me.

“I understand,” I whispered softly.

“Until we meet again, child,” Kaminari sighed, giving me a weak smile.

I gasped loudly and looked around at my surroundings. I was stood back in the throne room in front of Lord Aizen with Szayel behind me. Lord Aizen smiled broadly at me, as if he knew exactly what had just happened.

“Go ahead, Mika. Show us your power,” he told me gently.

I unsheathed my sword slowly, letting my instincts guide my movements. I threw the sheath to one side and held my sword up to the ceiling.

“Howl to the lightning skies!! Kaminari Ryu Hiroko!!” I yelled.

A surge of energy pulsated from my sword and seemed to ripple through the air around me. My sword completely disappeared once more and a cloud of smoke surrounded me. I could feel something wrapping around me, but I didn’t feel afraid.

I felt something ruffle my hair, as if something was moving about in it. My hands and feet became warmer and I could feel my nails grow longer and sharper.

When the smoke finally disappeared I looked up at Lord Aizen and saw that his eyes were fixated on my body, his smile broader than ever.

“Did I do it right, Master?” I asked, turning around to Szayel.

“Yes, Lupa… Yes you did!” he laughed happily, almost jumping up for joy.

Lord Aizen then clicked his fingers and a mirror appeared in front of me. I gasped when I saw my appearance.

It was the very first time I had looked at myself in a mirror and I couldn’t help but admire my long, sleek, black locks and my blood red eyes that seemed more compassionate than evil. But my facial features weren’t what shocked me the most.

My body appeared to have what looked like a white shell covering the entirety of it, with the exception to my neck, where there was a hollow hole. I had two small black ears poking out of the top of my head that looked very similar to Kaminari’s. My hands had become black and furry and I had claws jutting out of each of my fingers. I looked down at my feet and saw that the exact same had happened to them.

“I have a tail?!” I suddenly exclaimed, examining the bushy black tail that was coming out of my lower back.

“Congratulations, Mika. I know exactly who to assign you to,” Lord Aizen said quietly, that smile of his not leaving his face for one second.

The doors that we had entered through suddenly swung open and a wave of noise washed over the room.

"I've told you already, Gin, I don't need any more Fracción! I'm perfectly happy just having five!" a smooth male voice shouted in irritation.

"You'll do as you're told Grimmjow, no questions asked," another, harsher male voice said, almost in a mocking tone.

I turned around and saw two young men stood before me. One had messy blue hair and a bored expression on his face whereas the other had shoulder-length silver hair and a huge mocking smile pasted on his face, his eyes reduced to slits like that of a snake.

"Grimmjow, this is your new Fracción," Lord Aizen addressed the blue-haired man.

"Wait, she's a girl?!" Grimmjow gasped as he analyzed my body.

"Is there a problem with that?" I growled, quite offended by his sexism.

"Watch your mouth, boy. This girl is extremely powerful, you should be grateful to have her under your command," Szayel snapped at him.

"Tsk," Grimmjow brushed off, folding his arms impatiently.

"Well you really don't have a choice in the matter, Grimmjow. Besides, as Syazel already explained, Lupa is an extremley strong and capable young girl. Who knows, with her under your command you could be moved to a higher rank," Lord Aizen tempted.

There was a moments silence as Grimmjow contemplated the reward. After what felt like a life-time, Grimjow let out an exaggerated sigh.

"Fine! I'll take her! Can I go now?" he mumbled.

"Yes, you may go. You too, Mika," Lord Aizen permitted.

"Thank you again, my Lord," I bowed once more before turning and walking out of the door with Szayel.

I was then showed my room and when I was left alone I waltzed over to the window and stared up at the beautiful white moon.

"Grimmjow..." I repeated to myself slowly, a slight smirk flitting across my mouth.
