《02 Guilt》
Guilt is a heavy burden. But, Sasori felt no such emotion.
He didn't need those stupid things anyways. Why have a heart when you could have an everlasting body?
He was naive, and instead of letting himself feel, he turned it off. But, the one consequence to his plan, he would watch everyone around him die, as he lived on forever in a wooden body.
His brown eyes swept across the unconscious girl in the cage. A smirk adored his doll shaped face. Yes, she would be the perfect puppet.
You see, he felt something. He couldn't quite describe it. He later found out it was an emptiness in his chest. He wanted, no - needed someone who would never leave him.
So, he went back to his old village. Sasori found a weeping young women in her small apartment. He heard throughout the village of the victims who burned to death, and found she was their daughter. Or so they say.
He knew better, he knew who she really was. His eyes scanned her tearful face. Those eyes, they sucked you in. She screamed 'innocence', but he could see the anger and loathing towards the world behind those eyes. He hummed in thought.
He guessed she finally saw the world how it truly was. Nobody stays, no matter how much they promise. Promises only go so far, and in the end, people lie, and people die.
Nobody can promise the future, and nobody can change the past. But, you have control of the present. The question is; do you have the power to keep going and better your future when all you have ever known has perished from this world?
Sasori felt pain, he felt grief, and he felt anger. He despised those emotions. What he forgot, though, was the most painful thing; the feeling of being left behind. He was lonely, and he hated his parents for leaving. So, he found his solution; turn himself into a puppet, so he wouldn't have to feel anymore. He pushed away everyone else, and worked for the Akatsuki. Killing became his new solution to the loneliness, but the high from killing soon disappeared and he started craving for something stronger.
Nobody thought that he just needed a friend. Someone to show him that with sadness and pain, happiness does shine through. They never pushed hard enough, and for that, they failed as a human being. Even his grandmother, could do nothing to stop him, and watched helplessly as he turned into the monster she helped create.
He waited until she was asleep, and made his move. He took her back to his hideout, and chained her in a cage. He wanted to rip away the feeling that kept resurfacing no matter how many times he killed. It just wouldn't go away.
He got out the parts he would need. He would make her a puppet, so beautiful and make her stay. Then, he would no longer be alone. He would have someone who would stay with him, forever.
Puppets can break, but they can be repaired.
That's the difference between a puppet and a human heart.
