Chapter 9: More alive than ever
Sally let out a scream of horror, as Jack gently shook his daughter in his arms. Some of the townspeople covered their mouths, some looked away and bowed their heads. But every single one of them was crying. They not only felt heartbroken for Jack and Sally, but they felt they had lost another family member. The townspeople thought of themselves as family, and Bella being human didn't change that.
"Bella, please wake up! Please wake up!" Jack looked down at his lifeless daughter, his hand moving her hair out of her face. He couldn't stop looking at the blood, his dead heart breaking. And listening to his wife's cries made it break even more. They just lost their daughter, and he felt even more dead than he already was.
"My spiderweb... Oh I'm so sorry... why did he have to take you away from us?" He whispered, his voice breaking as tears slid down his bony cheeks. The trio just sat there and cried, Sally resting her forehead against Bellas forehead, unable to stop crying. Jack rested his cheek on top of Sallys head, closing his eyes. A tear from each of them landed on Bella's left cheek, right next to each other. They didn't even see the tears connect and form a tiny heart before sinking into Bella's skin.
Barrel and Shock were hugging each other, bawling theier eyes out. Lock was wiping away a few tears when he noticed the blood clearing up. "Guys, look! The blood is going away!" He exclaimed and the couples eyes quickly opened, their heads lifting up. They looked down at her wound and face, and Lock was right, the blood was slowly fading away, and so was the wound. In fact, the wound seemed to be closing up, and once it was closed up, even her scar was gone.
Then a blue light shown over her chest, in the area of her heart, in the shape of a heart. Within 10 seconds, the light faded and the crowd went silent, some leaning forward just a little bit. Bella's chest slowly rose up and down and it made Jack and Sally gasp softly. Bella's head moved slightly, a very soft groan escaping her lips. Her eyes fluttered open, her vision blurry at first. Then it cleared up and her blue eyes locked on her parents.
"D-daddy? M-mama?" She said softly and Sally covered her mouth with one hand, her other hand gently resting on Bella's forehead. The crowd gasped as she slowly sat up, still in Jack's arms. Her hands went to her stomach and she looked down, seeing that the blood, the wound and the scar was completely gone. Her eyes began watering, a small grin forming on her face as she looked up at Jack. He gently placed his hands on her cheeks, stroking them with his thumbs.
Realizing that she was okay, she started bawling and she flung herself in his arms, burying her face in his neck. He cradled the back of her head, his other arm wrapped around her shoulders. Sally's hand was resting on her back, and the three kids hugged Bella as well.
"SHE'S ALIVE!" The clown with the tear away face yelled out excitedly and the whole town burst in cheer and joy, some even dancing around that she was still alive. Jack and Sally hugged her tightly, wondering how in the hell she was alive. But they were just so happy that she was breathing in their arms. Bella pulled away, but only slightly as her hands went to her stomach once more.
"H-How... How am I alive? I- I thought... and my scar, I-It's gone!" She said in shock, her head shaking slightly in disbelief. She couldn't believe she was alive and that she was okay. Jack and Sally looked at each other before looking back at Bella. Sally ran her fingers through her hair as Jack shook his head. They were all still in shock, but it was overpowered by happiness and joy.
"Lock pointed out that the blood was fading, and once the blood was gone, your wound and your scar disappeared as well. Then, when the blood was gone, we saw a blue heart form over your chest. When Sally and I were crying, we didn't even see the tears sink in your skin. I think it was our tears of the most utmost love that brought you back to life." Jack stated and Bella glanced at Lock, Shock and Barrel, who hesitated a moment, wanting to hug her. But they didn't know if she was still in any pain, despite her wound and the blood being gone.
Bella could sense they were hesitant, and she giggled. "Oh come here you three." She said and the kids squealed in delight before basically getting on top of her, carefully of course and hugging the hell out of her. Bella laughed as she hugged them, Jack and Sally joining in the hug. Sally kissed Bella's hair, Jack wrapping his free arm around his wife.
A loud bark could be heard, and Bella immediately looked to the side, her eyes glimmering when she saw Zero floating towards her. "Zero!" He barked happily before licking Bella's face, making her laugh. "You're such a good boy Zero"
"Its time to party!!" One of the vampire brothers exclaimed and immediately, the band started jazzing it up, which made all of the residents start dancing the night away, and just relishing in the fact that their beloved Bella was alive.
Dr. Finkelstein, being pushed in his wheelchair by his wife Jewel, made his way towards the Skellington family and the trio, opening the top of his head and scratching his brain before closing it.
"Well, I'll be! Seems like the power of love cured you right up, My dear girl" He said with a chuckle and Bella smiled, carefully standing up with the help of Sally and Jack. She walked over to him and crouched down, gently placing her hands on one of the arm rests of the wheelchair.
"I guess so, grandpa." She said with a giggle. Even though Sally was an experiment that Dr. Finkelstein had created, he still looked at her as if she was his own daughter. And despite Bella being the human, adopted daughter of Jack and Sally, that didn't change Bella calling him Grandpa.
"Oh we are so glad you are alright, dear. The whole town was quite heartbroken when you died. But all that matters is that you're here with us once again." Jewel said kindly and Bella smiled brightly.
"Thank you, grandma Jewel. I'm so relieved to be alive. In fact, I feel more alive than ever!" She said and Dr. Finkelstein patted her hand gently before adjusting his black goggles.
"There is something I actually want to give to you. Jewel, my precious, do you have it with you?" He asked and Jewel nodded, reaching into her coat pocket and pulling out a small black box with a white bow. Bella stood up and took the box in her hands, taking off the bow and opening the gift. A small gasp escaped her lips as she looked at what was inside. Inside was a beautiful, crystal bat shaped pendant with a silver chain. Hanging from the bottom of the bat was a tiny red heart.
She was about to pull it out, but to her surprise, the necklace started floating out of the box and the tiny wings started flapping. Her eyes widened as the necklace unclasped itself and made its way around Bella's neck. It clasped itself, making sure it fit perfectly around her neck. Bella looked down at the necklace, gently stroking the pendant with her thumb.
"Oh grandpa, is this one of your new experiments? I love it!" she said and Dr. Finkelstein nodded. "It is, my dear. While we were cooped up in our homes, I had nothing but time on my hands and I wanted to try something different. I had designed it to where it would be your necklace, and only yours. So everytime that you go to pick it up and put it on, It will be designated to you only. Also, to take it off, just tap the bat twice and it will come off for you. Its not just an experiment, its a gift from your old grandpa."
Bella giggled as she looked at the doctor. "Grandpa, you're not old at all. You're just very wise, and quite frankly, a mad genius." She said and Dr. Finkelstein nodded. "That I am, my dear girl." He said before yawning. "Well, we must be getting back home. But don't let us stop you from having fun."
Bella leaned down and kissed his cheek. "Thank you, grandpa. Please get some rest. Gotta make sure that brain is fully charged for new improvements." She teased and he just shook his head, chuckling to himself. "Right you are, my dear. Come along, dear." Jewel waved goodbye before wheeling her husband back to their home. Before Bella could even say anything, one of the vampire brothers grabbed her and spun her around.
"We must celebrate your revival, Miss Bella!" Bella giggled as she danced with the vampire, glancing over at Jack and Sally, who were standing there with their arms wrapped around each other. Zero was floating next to them, and the kids were off dancing with each other. Bella's heart was filled with so much joy, so much happiness and so much love.
