2. Body Discovered
The air was thick with the acrid smell of smoke as the first responders rushed onto the scene of a house fire. Flames were still licking at the charred remains of what had once been a beautiful cabin, now reduced to smoldering ashes and blackened debris.
Mayor P.O.V
Mayor Johnson was in the middle of a meeting when he received a call that would change everything. It was the police chief, informing him that his cabin in the woods had been burnt to the ground.
"What do you mean my cabin had been burnt to the ground? Who would dare do something like that? Do you know who I am? NO! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? WHEN I GET OVER THERE, I WANT ANSWERS!" yelled the furious mayor.
His assistants were taken aback by his sudden outburst. The mayor was known for his calm demeanor, and this was the first time they had seen him lose his temper.
The mayor wasted no time. He immediately left the meeting and ordered his driver, Pablo, to bring the van to the front. His bodyguards joined him in the van, and they sped off towards the cabin.
As they drove, the mayor's mind raced. Who would dare to burn down his cabin? He had been the mayor for 39 years and had many enemies, but he couldn't think of anyone who would go to such extremes.
Detective
Detectives Jones and Smith arrived at the scene of a cabin fire in the remote woods. They were met by a group of firefighters who had been battling the blaze. The cabin was now just a shell of its former self, and the smell of smoke hung thick in the air.
"Well, boys, there might be a storm coming in, and when I say storm, I mean the mayor. He wants answers as soon as he arrives, so let's begin," said Detective Jones, taking charge of the situation.
The detectives began to sift through the debris of the cabin, looking for any clues as to what had caused the fire. It was a difficult task, as everything was charred and blackened.
As they worked, Detective Smith shouted, "I think I found something!"
"What is it?" asked Detective Jones, rushing over to see.
"Bones," said Detective Smith, holding up a piece of charred bone.
"What type of bones? I need you to be more clear, I can't tell the mayor we just found bones. Do you think he'll be impressed with just these vague answers?" replied Detective Jones, frustration clear in his voice.
Detective Smith continued to search the area, carefully sifting through the debris. As he dug deeper, he found more bones, some of which were clearly human. The detectives realized that they had stumbled upon a grisly crime scene.
Mayor P.O.V
Finally, they arrived at the scene of the fire, and the mayor jumped out of the van, his face red with anger. He approached the detective, who was waiting for him.
"Detective, what happened here? Who did this?" demanded the mayor.
The police chief hesitated for a moment, then spoke carefully. "We're still investigating, Mr. Mayor. We don't have any leads yet."
The mayor's eyes narrowed, and his voice grew even more menacing. "Well, find out who did this, and find out fast. I want answers, and I want them now."
The detective nodded, and the mayor stormed off, his bodyguards following closely behind.
As they left the scene, the mayor's mind was racing. He knew that someone had crossed him, and he vowed to find out who it was. No one could mess with the mayor and get away with it.
What the mayor didn't know is that Detective Jones would be investigating him.
.....
As the investigation continued, it became clear that the fire had started in the kitchen, possibly due to a faulty electrical appliance. It was a tragedy that could have been prevented.
Days turned into weeks, and the burnt body remained unclaimed, its identity still a mystery. The coroner's report indicated that the victim had died from smoke inhalation, but the cause of death hardly mattered. What mattered was that a life had been lost, a family torn apart, and a community left to mourn.
In the end, the burnt body was laid to rest in a simple ceremony, surrounded by mourners who had never known the person, but who felt a deep sense of loss nonetheless. The image of the burnt body haunted them all, a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of taking care of one another.
