~Am I that useless? Why am I on this earth?~
Unravelled Mysteries
Elise
I felt like I was dying. Whatever that Lex breathed into me, it was definitely poisonous and toxic.
I don't like it. I don't...
This is so... tiring...
"Wake up!" Who? Who? I saw Michael, Varus, and Wayne. Having no idea what happened, I was at a loss.
"I'm... sorry..." I murmured. I felt like crying for being so useless.
"It's alright... how are you?" Wayne was holding his hand up to my forehead. Varus and Michael, on the other hand were discussing something.
"Something's not right, Michael. Something's different. Just different. I can feel an aura around her." Varus' voice...
"There's nothing wrong, so just..." Michael paused.
"Michael, I assign you to be the substitute teacher for the class that Elise is in. You have to keep an eye on her 24/7." Wayne was holding on to my hand and at the same time speaking to Michael.
"Tell me, what is wrong with me?!" I had no energy to stand up, and I was already straining my voice.
"It's nothing. The poison has just left your body, so you will be weak for a little while. We need you to have extra protection just in case of another attack." Wayne released his hold on my hand.
"Michael? Please send Elise home. She needs to have ample rest. Besides, bringing her away from earth too long may result in her parent's suspicion." Michael nodded and gestured for me to walk first. How could I refuse his gracious offer? I tried my best to get up and leave that bed where I lay weak for who knows how long.
"Michael, you're my teacher now... and in my school... I will need your help significantly. Another thing, if I imagine something, will it appear in reality now?" Something's wrong with the school. It's always never normal.
"What's with your school? Uhm, about that, maybe it will." I shook my head gravely. It's not that I hated them. Their behaviour was atrocious, unacceptable.
"Unacceptable? I can understand that. You have suffered so much. It's alright; you have me now." I knew he could read my mind. My head rested on his shoulder, as we teleported back to earth.
---
I appeared in front of my house. Michael wasn't with me. I looked round, no trace of him at all. He was with me, why would he leave me? Was he somewhere else already?
"Mom, Dad, I'm home!" I picked up my pace when they didn't reply, and what I heard was heavy breathing and sounds of screaming.
What the hell?
"Leave, please! We have nothing here that you want!" I heard a slap in the face. That was my mom!
"How dare you, Jeanna. You married one of our enemies. You must vanish from the face of this earth." I was looking at the horror - filled scene, as I saw the unknown person made my mom levitate with just a bare hand.
I must save my parents.
"DON'T YOU DARE KILL MY MOM!!!" I let out a battle cry as I imagined a sword appear in the palm of my hand, stabbing the alleged about-to-be murderer. I felt a warm substance on my right palm holding the sword.
Blood.
In my face, was a smiling monster.
"So you are the half-breed." Half-breed? I'm... a what?
"Haven't they told you? What a pity... One of both worlds that will never coexist... You don't belong anywhere... And you'll never will..." What the...
"I will not be scared by the likes of you! Rot in Hell, you son of a bitch." I imagined him dead, to see his cocky smile become a dead one.
"Are you two okay?" They both nodded. I helped them up to the sofa and let them rest. I looked around the living room, keeping a lookout for any other reinforcements.
Nothing came. I sat down with my parents, holding on to their hands.
"It's okay, Elise. It's okay." Nothing about their voices could calm me. My tears fell, happy they were alive.
"No, are you two okay??" I wiped my tears, realizing they could be in a far worse state. They nodded, but I knew they were injured somewhere.
"I guess it's in our destiny. We from two different worlds married each other and we had you. Everyone was opposed to it, but we couldn't live without each other." My mother sat upright and whispered.
"Mother, Father... am I really a half-breed?" They covered my mouth almost immediately, and I realized something wasn't right. They looked at each other for a moment, nodding at the same time.
"I guess... we can't hide it from you anymore, can we? You find out things when we try to keep it from you." I'm a half-breed... my parents were from two different worlds...
I don't belong anywhere... Why am I here? I want to have a normal life, and what I get is paranormal things happening and...
---
"Elise!" I was shaken awake. I came face to face with Michael, and my parents were gone.
"Don't worry; they are in their room. It's nighttime now; they placed you in bed." I heaved a sigh of relief. Until then, I remembered something.
Pointing daggers at him, I started interrogating him, "Where were you when I needed you? Why did I have to kill that Fallen? What exactly am I? They called me a half-breed! I don't even know what the hell is going on! You promised to tell me everything in due course, now, I want everything to be made known to me! I don't want my parents to be in any more of their plans! They are innocent....!" I broke down in tears again, as Michael sat down beside me on my bed, placing a reassuring arm on my shoulder.
"It's not that I didn't want to tell you, but the Fallen have taken such a sudden and drastic step, I only can tell you now." I laid back on my headrest and sighed. My life had become so hectic in a span of a week. What next?
"Firstly, about the half-breed thing... I believe that your mother, a Fallen, married your father, one of us, and got you. How it went under our radar, I don't know. However, you are here... and yes. You are from both worlds." I shook my head. This bad? My life got screwed again, and this Xandor guy, who must be the mastermind behind the attacks on my family, needs to just die for disrupting my family's peace.
I could feel Michael's grip on my shoulder get tighter. I looked at him, my anger towards Xandor disappeared. All I saw was Michael and his calming hazel eyes.
"Enough of the anger, I guess. I'm just trying to prevent you from falling for their plan in any way possible." I wonder; why is he still able to trust me, when I actually can turn on him anytime?
"Because I know, you would never go back on your word. You have principles, and you abide by them. Now, back to the topic. Since you're borne by a Fallen and a Heaven, Wayne and Xandor have to wage a war to get custody... for you. Because you belong in both worlds, you belong half to our race and the Fallen... but you've seen their bad acts. I'm sure you don't wish to be like them." Then, what about Mom? Won't her mind full of Fallen acts and actions, relapse?
"I'm sure through your father's love for her, it won't happen. Now that Xandor has started targeting your loved ones, everything might be going downhill from here. It's getting to 6 am. You might want to get ready for school. I'll see you at class." With that said and done, he left in a ray of light.
How dare he, my protector, vanish from my side on duty. I'm so gonna give him a lashin' later, but I can't, right? I can't blame him from not being at my side when such a thing was happening, that we both didn't know about.
Getting a change of clothes and getting my daily wash-up routine done, I went to the kitchen and made a sandwich, stuffing it in my mouth soon after.
Running out of the house door and locking it, I checked my Telegram.
Hey there. It's been long. Meet me at 6.30am, the same old place? Oh my God.
I picked up the pace and started dashing, for that place which I thought I would never go back to for all of eternity.
Author's Note:
Well, I'm sorry I'm late. Some details written here may sound extreme and sorta crazy, as I realised how late I was for a update, and I really need the story to start progressing. What with Michael being so serious, you say? Uhm, this story isn't meant to have him that more of a joyful, outgoing person much. He's seen more than in his own life, but I'll get the happy stuff in soon :) About the mysterious text on Telegram? It's for you to guess. Telegram is your WhatsApp equivalent, if you were wondering. Well, until next time, I guess. I hope you enjoyed :)
