~Who exactly was he?~
Weiss
Michael
"Elise... it's time you stop... calling him."
"No! You don't understand!" Her words struck a chord within me, as I was reminded where my bodyguards used to be with me during the proposed final days of my life...
"It's okay! We will find him and get him back, okay? All we need is to gain enough power to save him. The Fallen is currently outnumbering us!" I held her tight in my arms as I tried to bring some sense into her.
"Weiss... he... he... is going to sacrifice for all of us. He.. just did. If only his and the others' lives could be traded for mine..."
"Please don't say that! We are all behind you, supporting you. But honestly, how did this all happen and come to this?!"
"It's... a chapter in my life, Michael. My parents... they know about it too." Baron and Jeanna nodded, somehow gravely.
"Does this involve something about your childhood?"
"He... was a caring boy. He was the first one to really help me in anything. However, when his behaviour became sort of weird, he distanced away from our relationship and everything all together. Next thing I knew, he went and started hurting me physically. When my parents called the police, he went and attempted suicide somewhere far away, killing a few of the pursuing police before his suicide. However, he came back... which was shocking the first time we met when all this happened."
"But he is now helping you. The fact that he is abandoning all Fallen conduct for you, is the sign of his virtues coming back. He is good, not evil, Elise. You have to see that." Still... Weiss... he had to be with them for a reason. Elise continued to call his name softly as we cleaned up the place, the faces of worried neighbours watching us, especially Elise...
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have scolded you for making the mistake of recording the video about your identity. I know... you didn't do it of your own accord." She continued to cry in my arms, as I wondered about the boy on the other side.

"Veil... where have you been?" Xandor's devious smile appeared in the light shining onto his face.
"I went to oversee the operation of the attack earlier, Master. I even gave her a warning." I replied him, without flinching.
"Lies, time and time again. Veil, you have lost all trust from me, and this is why I must punish you. Lex, send him to the brainwashing sector. He shall remember his past no more, no matter what relationship he has with the girl." I growled at Xandor, knowing that his judgement is unfair and that eventually, Elise will come to us because of me anyway.
"But of course, we will make you lure her here. I may return your humanity after that." He let out another laugh of triumph as Lex dragged me to the brainwashing chamber, my limb movement limited by shackles.
Throwing me in the remodel machine, Lex worked at the controls, and after he waved goodbye, my whole body just... shut down, in a world of memories.

"Look at her, she's holding books of cars - she's so tiny, she probably can't even drive one." That was the last straw.
"Hey! Stop bullying her!" I ran to the new girl and decided to befriend her and protect her from harm. She had no way of defending herself - she was unfairly treated.
"Thank you, I'm Elise. What about you?" The girl replied me with such innocence.
"My name is Weiss. Weiss Knight."

"Let's see who is gonna save you after this." Jake and his gang. They are about to send me into yet another lapse of injuries that I can't avoid from the teachers about.
"Boys, go have fun." The tattooed boys jumped on me, their condescending smiles as they beat me up sent me into a state of fear, anger and hate, even wishing for a dark power that I could silence them with.
That was when Xandor appeared after I was left alone to heal.
"Beat up pretty badly, you are." He rested his head on his palms as he laid down together with me.
"You gonna save me, or what?" His relaxed face kept giving me the chills.
"I have a deal for you, human." I bet he had something good for getting me out of my predicament. His voice was confident, very confident. He even laughed.
"What?"
"Serve me. Be my soldier. I will give you a power that no one has, and they will cower in fear at your strength."
"Do I have a choice?"
"You don't, but it's the best deal. Serving me will be a long way. You'll be immortal. Besides... I know there's a girl you want to protect. I can help you, while you assist me."
"Assist in what?"
"World domination and control, to make a perfect world." His red eyes glowed as his mask shimmered in the low light.
---
He brought me to Esmonia. It wasn't exactly the best place, but I felt a sense of belonging. Maybe because I had really no longer somewhere I could go. This was probably my only home.
"I'm not surprised, Weiss. Your life was a bunch of sad events. You can feel home here. Everyone's life here was a mistake. They had their destinies forged in such a way it was never fair. But I gave them power, the power to change their fate, and I will now change yours." He read my mind.
"And if I get that power... is there a side effect?"
"No."
"Won't you turn me into some evil person? Your ideals are for world domination and control. You don't think that I don't know that it's the biggest evil thing, right? How did you get that motivation?"
"It all boils down to one sentence. I rose from the depths of Hell. All of you humans must realise that I survived Hell to help Earth." Next up... I knew what he was going to do.
He was going to give me my power.

Elise and I crossed paths again after I went back to school all of a sudden after 3 years. Every day before that fateful one, I tried to be with Elise. But now... the situation is different. I'm now a servant of Darkness... and she's the purest, most innocent and the best symbol of good that I've ever seen. If she knew about my dark power...
Would she leave me? I played with the images in my mind, the virtual versions of the things I could do with my power.
If only I could let Elise realise her dreams with what I could do...
"Weiss! It's great to see you again! Where were you all this while - I heard you had to attend to things somewhere with your family..." Ah. The lie, that Xandor had put together to save my ass from truancy. He even disguised himself as my parent when they asked for the reason behind my urgent leave.
All so I could help him with the first phase of his plan. The release of the myths, from Hell. The supernatural legends, the dark monsters.
And my conversion of beliefs.
"Go away... Elise. Not today." My Fallen brethren approached me and started to bring me into their group.
"I have other things to do today. Forgive me." It was the last sentence of good that I would ever speak to her.
---
"Veil." My Fallen name. I'm getting slightly attached to that alias.
"Lord Xandor."
"I see that you're now distancing yourself. Is it because you can't bear to show her who you truly are?"
"I don't want to hurt her, Master." He shook his head once he removed his hood. It was the closest to seeing who he is. He never removed his mask.
Holding my chin, he instructed me, "You are right in making that decision. However, you must be cruel in order to bring her over, to make her remember. However, you must disappear as a human from her life."
"Why make me disappear from her...?"
"It's for... another time, in the future. She is vital to our plans... but not yet. She has not found out who she truly is."
"Fallen?"
"Neither, my dear Veil. She is of both worlds." Both worlds...
"You cannot tell her her true identity, but I believe her parents know and never told her. They want her to be normal... and that is a waste of her talent."
"How do you know she's powerful, Master?" I have never seen her reveal it. She's so normal to realise she has such a power. How could she be born with it?
"I can see... that she will eventually come to us. She will be a rising power... and a very dominating one that will fall into the hands of a man who she has a crush on, from the very side that rivals us." Darkness is our power. What rivals it is... Light.
"Is it the Protectors you speak of? From the Heavens? The Seven Divisions?" Even as I read up about them, I couldn't believe rivals of the dark powers existed either.
"It seems you have studied well. You are very much correct... and I believe you want to protect her. The Protectors will soon join us... once I set something in place. I will unite everything under my rule, and give everyone the freedom they all deserve."
"Lancer calls. Do I go back?" But even as I asked, Master had disappeared.
---
"Veil, we cannot afford to let you go near her, okay? She is a potential hazard to our operation." I nodded... not because I agreed. It's because of the operation. She... cannot be my priority now. I want to save my life in order to save hers.
"Hey, Weiss! Going out with your gang again, huh?" No... I need to turn her down. She cannot know.
"Get out of my sight," I replied, blankly. Elise's eyes were welling up with tears. I didn't know how to face her.
"I'm sorry, I won't disturb you... again. At least say hi?" No, I can't say hi another time. I'm afraid to lose my new home.
"No..." As much as I wanted to say okay... Elise left without even turning back.
---
"You're becoming too attached to her. You need to disappear from her. You must die as a human." Die? What?
"You're just going to act like you committed suicide, stupid. However, I want you to appear to Elise such that you have turned bad. You must commit an evil deed...
"Steal from a bank, perhaps?" He shook his head.
"Kill a police officer. I believe you know what to do." I took my mask and held it with my hand. Beckoning for my Fallen brethren to follow, I decided to head for the police station nearest to the mountains.
At the station, I was hesitant. Jake and his gang almost killed people, but now I will do a deed worse than them. Besides, I have never killed a person.
"Hesitant, brother?" Lex. A brother, and a friendly rival.
"All in this universe will have its first, Lex. We must let him try." Pain. Another brother.
"Okay. I will commit the deed. Mask up, brothers." We all positioned our masks and stormed into the station.
"Hey! Remove your masks immediately!" One officer on duty? This really is too much of a coincidence.
"Drop dead," I spoke, my voice cold as ice. As if suffering from a heart attack, the lone officer dropped to the floor.
"Disappear, my brothers. I will return to you." When I heard the alarms of police cars speeding up the hill, I left the station and ran, trying not to use my power to boost myself in order to keep my true identity. The police spotted me and sped up, hoping to apprehend me.
They will not.
I found the best part of the hill to jump off, into the dense vegetation. I leapt, and the last of me they saw, was my mask. I then proceeded to quickly make my fake replica and leave it there, returning to Esmonia after that.
That was when I realised, my humanity was disappearing.
I'm becoming like them.
Author's Note
I swear, the more I type about Weiss, THE MORE I JUST WANT TO TYPE ABOUT HIM. He suddenly came into my inspiration module in my brain in the very first few sessions of planning, and I felt he was a vital point. I never had him in the story in any versions before this, but his appearance felt very sudden so I decided I should place a clear explanation in this chapter, and another one (probably half so I can place some actual present day action already) - which I suppose is a nice short story of his life for you!
Such a long chapter this time round HAHA
Part II of Weiss coming up soon :D
