Hunter's POV

"HUNTER! YOU SON OF A WITCH! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"

I look around desperately for Flapjack as I run for my life. Unfortunately, I end up running into the wrong bird.

"Heya Hunter! Hoot. Hoot. Wanna hear a story? :>)"

"Outta the way. I need to get out of here."

"Hoot. I can help. Your faithful pal Hooty is reporting for duty. ;>)"

Before I have a chance to tell Hooty to fuck off again, I get swallowed up by darkness. I can't believe that bird tube just ate me. Although, I'm soon thankful as I hear Hooty tell Amity that I ran out of the house, followed by the sound of her angrily stomping out.

I have no clue why she suddenly showed up trying to kick down my bedroom door while threatening to kill me. As far as I know, she should be happy after her date with Luz. After all, nothing went wrong for them.

That's it! Blight's upset because she thinks I'm dating her brother. I'll ask Edric if he can tell her the truth tomorrow because right now, I'm tired, and I have Hooty watching my back, so I'll be fine.

Worst mistake of my life.

I must have been really tired to have trusted that stupid worm with my life. He's snoring and mumbling to himself in his sleep about some green owl. Meanwhile, I'm running for my life for the second time tonight, except now, I'm in the woods.

I have no clue where Flapjack's been, and I can't find him for the life of me. But there's no time to focus on that, I have to keep running. Blight's surprisingly fast and has a lot of stamina. Just as I glance behind me to make sure I'm safe, I run into someone in front of me.

"BLIGHT?"

"HUNTER!"

I can see her raising her hand to cast a spell, but I quickly grab her arm and stop her. "If you're here, then who's chasing me?"

Before she can respond, she gets flung away by the flick of a giant tail. I look to my side and see a giant basilisk towering over us.

Shit.

A/N: I  was supposed to post this in June, but I ended up going on wifi-less family vacation and lost motivation to write, but I got my motivation back. Also, my original plans for this book are changing after relooking at them, but I have a general idea of what's going to happen for the next couple chapters.
