xv. CHAPTER SIX

The Dunleo was calm as the Scarlet Dragon made its way to Palani, news of its stop in Aldhibah already making its way to almost every kingdom. This was odd considering the fact that the sky was a solid shade of black thanks to storm cloud cover and rain drenched everything that had the misfortune of being stuck outside.

Captain Rajani was one such creature stuck outside, her gaze locked on the horizon as she steered the ship. Despite the darkness surrounding her, she had no trouble navigating, her eyes having taken on the ability to see in the dark alongside their new cat-like pupils.

Her clothes clung to her body thanks to the rain, the outline of wings clearly visible against the fabric of her shirt. Her hat kept the water out of her face and her gloves made certain that her grip on the wheel wouldn't slip. There was an unspoken agreement to leave her be.

Charvi had managed to work her way into the mess hall area, almost everything about the ship seeming to have shifted to accommodate her size. She would occasionally whimper when the ship hit a slightly larger than average wave or when lightning struck the water nearby and was swiftly followed by a loud clap of thunder.

Sol and Taalay were holed up in the kitchen, doing their best to keep the dark atmosphere that had descended over the ship at bay through cheerful chatter and cooking and baking up a storm. Both had taken to the dragon fairly quickly, the two taking to call the giant lizard 'Charlie' simply because it was easier for them to say.

A whole bunch of books were spread out over a table, Sol having 'borrowed' them from the Library of Prophecies during the chaos with Charvi. What? Just because she normally obeyed the law, didn't mean she wasn't above breaking it when need be.

It seemed that there was soon to be a meeting to discuss everything, the only thing keeping it from happening at the moment being the lack of the captain in the room. No one was quite sure how Rajani was going to react to Nino, the pirate having avoided the girl since they left the city.
