Extra #1: Dreams of Destiny
The night had fallen like a soft, velvet curtain over the campsite, and the quartet lay peacefully under the stars, their rhythmic breathing a gentle serenade to the surrounding forest. The fire had died down to glowing embers, casting faint, flickering shadows over their resting forms.
Cassandra, however, was far from asleep. She laid on her back, gazing up at the endless sea of stars, feeling a strange sensation prickling at her skin. She couldn't put a finger on it, but for a while now, cryptic messages and feelings had been haunting her.
With the others sleeping soundly around her, she couldn't help but question herself in a hushed murmur. "What's going on? All these strange feelings, the whispers... am I losing my mind?"
The wind whispered through the trees, and for a moment, it sounded like they were trying to respond. She frowned, propping herself up on an elbow, her voice softer than a night breeze. "What are you and the world trying to tell me?"
As if in response, a soft glow surrounded her. It was almost like fireflies dancing around her, but these were not ordinary fireflies. They were ethereal, like fragments of stars. They circled her for a moment, then drifted away into the night.
Cassandra watched them in silent awe. "Am I... am I connected to something in some way? What are you trying to show me?"
She lets out a sigh, unable to tear her eyes away from the embers. She's clearly exhausted, but unable to get a wink of sleep.
And then, she feels something appearing. She turned to look, and a lotus flower appeared, seemingly out of thin air. It lay there, vibrant and alive, its petals kissed by moonlight, untouched by the dust and dirt of the forest floor.
Cassandra blinked in astonishment. "Wha... who put this here?!" Her voice held a mixture of confusion and a hint of terror as she reached out to touch the mysterious lotus.
The flower felt real, with soft petals and a delicate fragrance that hung in the air. She looked around frantically, unable to tear away the feeling that she was being watched.
Her voice is a soft whisper. "Who are you? What do you want from me?" She exhaled shakily, suddenly feeling more uneasy.
She shakes her head, voice slightly determined. "I'll just go to sleep. I can't handle this... whatever this is. Not now." And with that, she closed her eyes.

But as her eyes closed, a world opened up before her. She found herself standing in a realm of surreal beauty. It was a dreamscape, bathed in the soft glow of moonlight. Lotus flowers, like the one she had found earlier, were everywhere, their petals shimmering with an otherworldly radiance. The ground beneath her feet was lush and vibrant, a carpet of the greenest grass she had ever seen.
Cassandra couldn't help but gasp in astonishment as she looked around. The serenity of the place was undeniable. She felt both tiny and significant, an integral part of this surreal garden.
Amidst the blooming lotuses, her questions returned, whispering in the recesses of her mind. "What is this place? Why am I here? Is this a dream?"
The beauty surrounding her was both calming and unnerving. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of the lotuses, and the leaves of the massive, ancient trees rustled with secrets she couldn't comprehend.
Without conscious thought, Cassandra began to walk, the petals of the lotuses brushing against her fingers. The ground was cool beneath her feet, and the further she ventured, the more vivid the dream world became. She kept murmuring her questions aloud, but there were still no voices to answer her.
"Why is this happening to me? What does this place mean? Who... Who am I?"
The dream world seemed to listen to her, with the gentle sway of the lotus petals and the hushed rustle of leaves. It was as if the forest, or whatever entity held sway over this dream, wanted her to continue, to question and wonder.
Cassandra felt a mixture of awe and trepidation, her thoughts and feelings weaving into the very fabric of the surreal place. And with every step she took, the world seemed to offer more questions than answers, and the lotuses stood as sentinels of ancient mysteries, waiting for her to uncover the truth.
As Cassandra wandered deeper into the dream world, her questions continued to multiply, each one hanging like an unspoken plea in the air.
"Why am I here? What does all of this mean? Who am I really?" She whispered these inquiries to herself, as if voicing them would somehow conjure the answers.
Amidst the sea of lotus flowers, a breathtaking sight unfolded before her. A majestic bird, unlike any she had ever seen, materialized from the moonlit mist. The spirit bird was ethereal, with plumage that seemed to shimmer like stardust. Its eyes, the most beautiful shade of ivory, almost like opals, held a profound wisdom.
Cassandra gasped in awe, her voice nearly lost in a hushed whisper. "What... what are you?"
The spirit bird regarded her with a serene, maternal gaze. Her voice, soft and melodious like a gentle breeze through the leaves, filled Cassandra's mind.
"I am Elandra," the bird's voice resonated in Cassandra's thoughts. "I have been watching over you, child."
Cassandra, caught in the spell of this dream world and the presence of the mysterious Elandra, couldn't help but pour out her confusion. "Why is all of this happening to me? I don't understand any of it."
Elandra extended her iridescent wings, which seemed to stretch infinitely in the dream world. She regarded Cassandra with a deep, knowing gaze. "You carry within you a gift, one that is awakening. The lotus flowers are a symbol of your true potential."
Cassandra frowned, her questions multiplying once more. "A... Gift? What gift?! Why is everyone speaking in riddles to me? I want answers, damn it!" She rubbed her temples in pure frustration.
Elandra can't help but laugh softly, her laugh a soothing melody. "Sorry, dear, but it must all remain a mystery for now."
The disappointment in Cassandra's expression was evident in her eyes. "But... why? What is so important, it should be hidden from me?! What's so special about it?! What's.... so special about me?"
Elandra's eyes soften in sympathy before unfurling a wing, gently placing it on Cassandra's scarred cheek and gently making her face her. "Cassandra, my dear... You have always been special in your own way. It hurts me knowing that you don't see yourself the way I do, nor the way your friends see you."
Cassandra's eyes widened with slight emotion. "My... friends? You mean the only three I have right now?"
Elandra shook her head. "Not just them. I mean everyone else back at the kingdom."
Cassandra's eyes widened further, her lips trembling slightly. "I... I... um..."
Elandra pulled her closer, wrapping her wing around her. "You don't have to say anything now, dear. Just be known that even though your friends think you betrayed them, they still think highly of you."
Cassandra's chest was heaving with each shaky breath she took, and she couldn't help but nuzzle her face in Elandra's neck. "Do... do they even consider me their friend at this point? Knowing what that stupid Azriel did to manipulate them, they probably hate me."
Elandra pulled her closer. "They don't, my child. They love you, and they miss you."
Cassandra's breath hitched, and she couldn't stop the tears welling in her eyes. "I... I don't know what to say..."
Elandra let out a soft sigh. "You need to stop being so hard on yourself, dear Cassandra. You need to believe me. You must wait, and then you'll see everything."
Cassandra furrowed her brows, confusion settling in. "See everything? What is that supposed to mean?!"
Elandra puts a wing on her shoulder, her voice soft. "You're destined for greatness, Cassandra."
The words "destined for greatness" echoed through Cassandra's thoughts, and for a moment, the dream world and the real world seemed to overlap, casting light into the darkest corners of her heart. She felt a surge of emotions—hope, fear, uncertainty—all mingled within her.
"I don't understand," Cassandra finally confessed, her voice filled with a longing for clarity. "What do you mean, 'destined for greatness'? I'm just me, and I've made so many mistakes. How can I be great?"
Elandra's eyes gleamed with kindness as she gazed down at Cassandra. "Greatness does not come from the absence of mistakes, my dear, but from the lessons learned through them. Your journey is just beginning, and every step, every choice, will shape the path you walk."
Cassandra wiped away her tears and took a deep breath, her resolve solidifying. "But... what about the lotus? What does it have to do with all of this?"
Elandra's wings shifted, and in the dream world, the lotuses around them seemed to bloom with vibrant intensity. "The lotus is a symbol of purity, enlightenment, and rebirth. Just as the lotus rises from the mud, pure and untainted, so too will you rise from your doubts and fears, reborn in your own strength and purpose."
Cassandra's mind whirled with thoughts as she considered Elandra's words. "Reborn... What must I do? I want to understand. I want to find my place in this world."
Elandra gently guided Cassandra, leading her towards a radiant lotus that stood out from the others. "Listen to your heart, Cassandra. Let it guide you. The path to your destiny will become clear when you are ready to see it. And remember, dear. If you ever need me, I will be right here, waiting for you."
With that, Elandra's presence began to fade...

As Cassandra slowly stirred from her dream, she couldn't shake the vivid images that had filled her sleep. For a moment, she remained still, her eyes adjusting to the soft, natural light filtering through the leaves above.
Questions flooded her mind, and she couldn't help but voice them, even if only to the forest around her. Her voice was a whisper, filled with awe and confusion. "Was it real? That bird... Elandra? What does she mean, 'destined for greatness'? And the lotus... What is my true potential?"
She shifted, trying to sit up, her mind racing with the enigmatic messages from her dream. "What am I supposed to do with this... whatever she mentioned? Why is everything so cryptic?"
Cassandra knew she couldn't find answers from the silent trees or the peaceful clearing. Her heart heavy with the weight of her thoughts, she glanced at the slumbering forms of her friends, their faces bathed in the soft morning light.
For now, her questions would remain unanswered, but the sense of purpose instilled by Elandra in her dream lingered like a comforting presence, giving her the strength to face the challenges ahead.
