Vikrant's POV

There's nothing half so pleasant as coming home again. We came back home last night. It feels so good to be back home. Mom wanted me to stay back at the Shergill mansion though I wanted to stay in my apartment. But once I said I want to live in my apartment Arushi gave a bizarre reaction.

"I'll move out if he wants to stay there." she said to mom. Why was she giving such reactions to everything? Yesterday to Neha and today to Mom.

Why would she move out? I never told that she needs to move out. I guess we are still married right? She is still my wife. Why wouldn't she want to live with me?

'Because you were the one to like leave living with her.'

Ok.... my mind has started mocking a lot at me I guess it needs to shut a bit.

So yeah here I am at the Shergill mansion. I took a shower with great difficulty because of this dislocated shoulder. It's really very infuriating at a times. I am not even able to wear a shirt now.

'knock....knock' I heard someone knocking on the door. This shirt is already troubling me and who is it now. Aarrggghhhh.

"Come in." I said still struggling with my shirt.

"Umm..mm...Mom is calling you down for breakfast." I heard Arushi's voice? She went back to the apartment last night right? What is she doing here? Or am I hallucinating?

I snapped my eyes towards the door. Ok am I really dreaming? Arushi.... that too in a saree? But damn she looks so beautiful in that cream floral saree.

"Umm...you need some help?" she said breaking my staring session and pointing towards my shirt.

"No...actually umm...Ya please." I stuttered because I have struggled enough with this stupid shirt.

She came ahead and held the rim of my shirt and started helping me. She still uses the same citrus and rose perfume. Her face was still the same just a little bags under her eyes yet she looks as mesmerising as she looked on the first day I met her. That feeling of having her so close to me was like nostalgia. Her hair were flowing down her shoulders with some strands on her face obstructing my vision of her deep black eyes.

"It's done" she said after buttoning up the last button of the shirt.

"Thank you.....How come saree?" I asked wanting to keep the conversation alive. I really wanted to talk to her.

"Need to give a presentation at a fund raising event so."

"Oh...All the best."

"Thank you" she said and started walking out even before I could speak anything else. Why is she running away from me all the time. I want to talk to her so let's just keep this conversation on.

"Arushi" my call made her stop at the door. But I dont know what to speak. Oh God

"Umm...You look good." seriously? good? Couldn't you atleast tell beautiful? You are so pathetic Vikrant.

"Hmm" she just hummed and walked out. What else can I expect....Hufff.
.
.
.
The whole day I was dawdling around the house. I wanted to visit dadu but there was no one at home to drive me to the hospital. So having no option I sat watching Good omens.

It was almost 7 in the evening I was in my room when Mom walked in with Arushi's mother.

"How are you beta?" she asked and I just replied a "I am good."

Both the ladies sat silently giving occasional glances to each other and wiggling in their spots. I wonder what's wrong with them.

"You want to tell something mom?" I asked breaking the silence which was prevailing since past 10 minutes.

"Ya actually we wanted to speak to you and Arushi. She'll be here in sometime." Mom said and I wonder what do these mothers want to talk. you know mothers can be dangerous at a times.

"Mom you called me?" Arushi said walking in the already open door.

"Mumma what are you doing here?" she asked in an unsettling manner maybe she wasn't expecting her here.

"Accha so now I need your permission to be here?" aunty asked while giving her a hug.

"You know I did not mean that."

"How was your event beta?" mom asked caressing her hair. And frankly I felt a pang of jealousy hit me. I mean I was the patient here shouldn't I be getting their attention?

'You weren't with them but she was.'

I really hate my brain not because it always keeps mocking at me but for the fact that it keeps reminding me of my foolishness.

"We needed to talk to you both." Mom said making Arushi sit beside me on the bed and both the ladies sat on two chairs infront of us as though we were in an interview room and they were ready to throw questions at us.

Their faces were clearly hesistant and I know what is coming ahead.

"Look kids we don't want to invade in your personal life nor do we want to know what led to all the dreadful events in the past." Mom said and Aunty continued.

"Some things are bound to happen and what happened has happened Nobody can change it. All we expect is that instead of running away from the truth just face it. Clear all the misunderstandings that have caused this distance between you two." Aunty said pointing at the gap between me and arushi because she sat almost two feet away from me as though I was some fungus that would infect her.

All the time her gaze was on her fingers that were fidgeting with each other. Mom held her hand and lifting her head. A tear was trickling down her cheek. It's worse to look at her in this state but it was worst when I saw her laying lifeless.

"I don't know what mistakes my son has done nor can I understand how hurt you are because of his actions. But trust me their might have been something really very big that he is hiding from everyone. Just give him a chance to explain himself. Please....It's my request." by now even mom had some tears. Before anyone could say anything else Arushi stood up and ran out of the room. Mom went behind her.

"Don't you hate me for what I have done to your daughter?" I asked Arushi's mom who sat infront of me. Because I certainly felt like killing myself for hurting her so much.

"My daughter doesn't hate you...So I don't have a reason to hate you."

"I know you may feel she hates you but she doesn't I know my daughter better. She is just upset with how things turned out and you left her when you should have been with her. After what happened with her best friend I thought she would never agree to get married. She always feared of having a broken marriage because even her cousin brother Sidhant had a few complications in his marriage. Keeping her fear aside she agreed to marry you but her fear came true. She is a little upset and broken and I know she'll be fine if you stay by her side. Priya told me about why you fear loosing your loved ones. But things always don't turn out to be as bad as you think they will. For once just keep your fear aside and talk to her I am sure things will get better." Aunty said and I couldn't resist from hugging her.

" I'll do everything it takes Aunty. I have made many promises earlier and broken them but this time I promise I'll win my Arushi back I promise I'll make up for all my mistakes I promise I'll bring back the old Arushi and keep her happy now and forever." Every word I spoke was direct from my heart. When she gave us a chance keeping her fear aside I broke her but now it's my turn to keep my fear at bay and win her and her love back.

"I guess Arushi doesn't call your Mom aunty....so i guess you don't have to call me aunty." she said chuckling at me.

"Sure mumma." I said because that's what Arushi calls her.

Arushi's POV

I was on my way to Shergill mansion because mom had called me and asked me to visit her.

Once I reached the maid told me mom was in Vikrant's room. My heart says go there but my mind doesn't support my legs to walk ahead. The past 3 days have been really tough. My minds just wants me to run away from him. There is so much going on in my little brain. It feels so weird around him all the time my mind just keeps telling me to run away from him or else he'll hurt me more.

I cannot bring myself to face things or even to question him about anything. I don't even know if I should hate him for what he has done or be glad that he is back now.

"Mam you are still here?" I heard the maid and realised I was still at the main door.

Gathering all the confidence I had I walked towards his room because the truth is inevitable and the truth is that I will have to face him either today or tomorrow.

When I reached his room I saw even mumma was there. After a while both the mother's said they wanted to talk to us. And I know what they want to talk.

Mumma said they wanted us to stop running away from each other and clear the bad air between us but it will happen only when he speaks up right.

Mom said that Vikrant might have some big reason for his actions. She was literally pleading me to give her son a chance to explain himself but I dont know why my mind kept repelling her words. No reason can be so big to leave your wife in a dying state. Maybe you don't even consider her your wife but atleast for the sake of humanity he could have stayed.

Mom had tears in her eyes. That's when I realised even my cheeks were wet. I did not want to show my vulnerable side to them now. Not atleast now when they would pity me as a victim. I stood up and ran out to the garden. I needed air. My mind was a real mess and these tears wouldn't stop anytime soon.

After a few minutes I felt a hand on my shoulder. Mom was there. I couldn't stop myself from hugging her but that only made my tears flow more.

"Stop crying beta...everything will be fine. Calm down." Mom said caressing my hair. After what felt like eternity I broke from the hug.

"I am sorry...I just...I couldn't..."

"You don't have to be sorry beta.... Sometimes letting out your pain is better than hiding it in yourself."

"Mom do you really think there can be any reason to just leave everything and vanish. Not just me but he left all of you all. And I really hate him for that." I spoke after a brief silence.

"There can be no reason so big to leave everyone but Arushi Vikrant is scared of hurting his loved ones and losing them. I am not trying to justify his act but all I want is you to give him a chance to explain himself. You are a strong and mature woman and I know you will handle things very well. Just don't keep running away face it and I am sure things will get better." I just nodded at her. She was right I need to stop running away and listen to him. Maybe things will work out.

She took me back to his room. Mumma and Vikrant were talking something but stopped when they saw us. I was back to the place where I sat a few minutes ago.

"You both are mature adults talk to each other and we hope and pray everything gets sorted out." mumma said and both the ladies walked out.

It was more than 5 minutes since they walked out but none of us spoke anything. My mind was unsure about what to speak and how to start. Maybe he too was in the same state. But finally after a while he spoke.

"Can I move in back to our apartment with you?" he asked. I was a bit hesitant at first because my mind was again telling me to run away but remembering Mom's words I agreed.

•••••••••••••••

Who better than the mother's to knock some senses in their brains right?

So finally Vikrant and Arushi will be living back together. And I just hope Vikrant keeps up his promise now.
