Shourya's POV

I was lying down and observing everybody sitting in the room, bhai was sitting with Ibrahim sir, maa with khala and bhabhi.

Anu was sitting on the floor playing with tissues and the only person missing was Anah. I don't know where she went, a moment ago she was here and now she wasn't.

My thoughts drifted from her to that strange man who stood on the sidewalk with that sign.

God has its way to punish the sinful.

I don't know but somehow he seemed familiar. Like I have seen that smile with a crooked teeth somewhere. Think Shourya think. Where have you seen him? Was it during Blue ship mission? No, all the people we caught back then, there faces were completely covered except there eyes.

But where then? During Hail India? No.

I was amidst thinking when I felt somebody tugging on my blanket. My eyes caught sight of a small hand clutched around the blanket and trying to use it as support to climb up.

Can she be any more adorable?

Wincing slightly I tried to get in a sitting position when somebody came and adjusted a pillow behind my back and helped me straighten up. My eyes met her pretty ones as she gave me a pointed look.

"Careful Shourya! The wounds are still fresh, you don't want to pull out any stitches", my beautiful doctor reprimanded.

She shook her head at me and then she saw the small figure watching us. Her lips broke into a beautiful smile as she bend and pulled her up in her arms. The sight of her holding Anu did something to my heart that I couldn't describe.

She's going to be a wonderful mother.

"What happened Anu?", "Want to sit with chachu". Anah smiled and carefully made her sit on my lap where there was no injury or so.

Pinching her chubby cheeks I tried to bend and kiss her but a hand on my shoulder stopped me. "Kisses can wait. Just because I allowed you to sit, don't get too ahead of yourself"

Anu giggled at Anah scolding me. I gave her a mock glare to which she stuck her tongue out. Anah was about to leave when I held her hand and was about to kiss it when a very intentional cough made me look the other way.

How come we didn't noticed our family sitting there? Before I could let go, Anah harshly pulled her hand as her nail hit me right on my cheek.  "Ouch!" I winced. It will surely leave a mark.

"Oh! Sorry Shourya. I didn't meant to do it".  Her hand brushed my cheek softly when again a cough got our attention. This time it was from Ibrahim sir.

She blushed a profound shade of red as she moved away.

Ibrahim sir was staring at me, whereas I just gave a nod with an awkward smile, " I umm..think my shoulder's hurting, want to sleep for some time"

Anah was about to ask something when she realised the look on my face. She gave bhabhi a look as she shook her head at me and said something to maa and bhai. Maa came, kissed me on my forehead and said, "Anirudh would stay the night beta, he won't let me stay instead".

I kissed the back of her hand as she went away. Bhabhi ruffled my hair and pulled Anu near my face as I gave her a sloppy kiss on her cheeks.

Ibrahim sir and khala gave me well wishes and was about to leave when stopprd and turned around. "We'd be waiting for you in the car Anah"

Anah gave a pleading look and said " Papa, can I just stay the night? He might need me, I mean as a doctor off course" she added.

"Well there are alot of doctors on night duty, I don't think that should be a problem plus he looks to be in fast recovery. Come soon". With the finality in his voice they went away.

Bhai coughed awkwardly and went out of the room with an excuse to get coffee, couldn't be more obvious though, he hates coffee. Before I could say anything she began "Don't move your shoulder alot in the night. Try to sleep on your back. I will tell bhaiya to keep checking the IV. They will be bringing the night dose soon, take it without complain alright and- "

I reached over, held her hand and pulled her towards me before she could say any further. She ended up falling on my lap as I quickly wrapped my arms around her to restrict her from any escape.

"Shourya! Leave! Bhaiya will come". She tried to fumble in my hold but I rather gripped her tighter. " I don't mind baby". Her eyes widen like a saucer at my endearment.

I softly tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear and said "I am so grateful I have you in my life, you know? Before you my life was definitely fulfilling but now it seems much more"

I intervened both of our fingers and continued, "I always had my family to come back home for from my missions. But now I have you alongside and if I wanted to rush back earlier now I want to run back home to you"

"Shourya I...", "Shh...don't say anything". I pecked her forehead and pulled her in the crook of my neck. I don't know but I just need her close to me. Close enough to realise She is mine and nobody can take her away from me, not even an accident.

How you love somebody to an extent where you are willing to promise eternities and forever to that same person. You are willing to take that extra mile just to see a smile on there face.

How somebody becomes a part of you, unknowingly, without which you can't function anymore.

If this ain't love, I don't know what is!
