Chapter 12: Rest and Preperation
Had Vegeta finally been defeat? Nope. He had somehow survived and was escaping towards his space pod. Krillin could've easily killed him but Goku told him to let the Saiyan prince go, wanting to fight the Saiyan prince once more. Krillian was mad but listened to his friend anyway.
Several minutes following the Saiyan's escape, a ship landed and inside was Master Roshi, Korin, Bulma, Chinku and Chi-Chi. Upon the ship's landing, Chi-Chi ran outside and went to her children- completely forgetting about her husband. "Gohan! Goha! Are you okay?!" Chi-Chi shouted to her unconscious children that were in Krillian's arms.
"Their fine Chi-Chi," Krillian tried to reassure her. "Goku-"
Chi-Chi quickly took the twins from Krillian and held them tightly. "I promise to never leave you with him again!"
Bulma, Korin and Roshi exited the ship and made their way towards Goku. Roshi held Chinku in his arms and as soon as the little girl saw Goku, she smiled and started reaching towards her Dad. Even though she barely remembered him, Chinku still had somewhat of a memory of her Father. "Dada, dada." she called as she reached her chubby hands out to the broken man.
Goku gave Chinku a painful smile as the little girl went to her Dad. "Hey Chinku," he said as he painfully placed his hand to his daughter's cheek. Chinku giggled, not really realizing that her Father was injured and almost killed.
Goku, Gohan, Goha and Krillin were all taken to the hospital to help with their wounds. On the plane, they discussed their next step of action. Their friends were dead and there was no way to bring them back. Krillin then explained how he had an idea; "If Piccolo and Kami are aliens, that must mean they come from a different planet? And what 's on that planet? Other Namekians!"
"Which means we have a chance to bring everyone back!" Goku stated.
"You mean we can bring them back after all?!" Gohan asked with tears of joy in her eyes.
"Even Piccolo?!" Goha added.
"It's worth a shot, right?" Krillin pointed out.
Of course the plan was easier said than done. Bulma pointed out that they needed a spaceship and the location of the Namekian's home world. King Kai helped with the coordinates and Krillin showed everyone the remote for Nappa's space pod. There was not only a plan but hope that their friends could be brought back to life.
The morning following the battle with the Saiyans, the survivors all woke in the white room where they each were wrapped in bandages. Of course, Goku looked a whole lot worse than anyone else. After being bandaged up, Gohan and Goha were able to interact with little Chinku again. "Wow, you've gotten so big Chinku," Goha commented while her little sister and big brother sat on her hospital bed.
"She sure has," Gohan agreed. "It's been such a long time sis."
"Gohan, Goha," Chinku giggled. She missed her older siblings badly, remembering them a little better than her Dad.
The Son kids were glad to be reunited with each other and Goku smiled as he watched his children play with one another. This was what he wanted all along for his children. He wanted them to live in peace and harmony, not have to worry about saving the world. Well he did want them to fight, but not like the ordeal they had all just been through, seeing him die and then being separated from each other and their parents for so long. Still, he was proud of Gohan and Goha for being so brave.
Just then, Bulma busted into the room. She ran over to the TV and turned it on to reveal a news reporter standing in front of Nappa's space pod.
"Oh no, they got to the ship before we could!" Krillin shouted.
"Don't you worry Krillin," Bulma insisted as she pulled out the remote he gave her.
"Quillin no worry," Chinku babbled, making everyone laugh.
"You heard her Krillin. Anyway, I studied this thing all night long and now I know how to make it fly out of there." Bulma pushed a button here and one there on the remote and everyone turned their attention to the TV, waiting to see what would happen. Unfortunately, what did happen was the opposite of what everyone wanted; the ship exploded! Everyone freaked out as they realized their only hope left had just exploded into a million pieces.
"It's all over," Krillin wallowed in defeat.
Just when all hope seemed lost, an unexpected visitor arrived; Mr. Popo. He told them all about the space ship he knew about and Bulma went with him to see for herself. A few hours later, when she got back, she confirmed that the ship was working and that it could be used to travel to planet Namek. Krillin volunteered to go with Bulma on the expedition to Namek and Gohan and Goha wished to go with them.
"Don't be silly you two," Chi-Chi told her children. "You don't need to joke around."
"Mom, we're not joking," Gohan explained. "We want to go!"
"We have to go Mom. We want to help bring Piccolo back to life," Goha explained.
"There is no way I'll let you two go!" Chi-Chi shouted. "After everything you've been put through you are not leaving my sight, let alone the planet. I will not send my babies into space!"
"Shut-up!" Gohan and Goha shouted at the same time.
Chi-Chi felt her heart break. Her babies were becoming delinquents.
"Now's not the time to be saying those things, Mom," Gohan said. "Everyone fought for the Earth. We have to see this through."
"They protected us, we need to help them," Goha finished.
Chi-Chi couldn't believe what she was hearing. In a way, she was proud of her children for taking such a big leap of responsibility. She knew there was no point in arguing. The twins' minds were made up. They were going into space and they were going to bring back Piccolo and their friends.
