Chapter 6: Unexpected Encounter
Y/N's POV
To think he ever cared, ah, Y/N, you're such a dummy. To naive, too trusting. You believe one act of kindness is love. I thought. Of course he doesn't love you. He doesn't even really know you. You are just too nice and see the good side of people really well. Then you fall for that. Such an idiot.
I sighed. Who knew this would turn into such a mess? I never expected this to happen. Though I wanted to see him, but not here. And not like this. I wanted him love me. But why would he? I kept walking. There were a lot of cafes in the university campus. I decide that I'd just grab a coffee, get something to eat and go. Food always help me with emotional situations. Especially chocolate. Chocolate was an emotional savior for me. I walked into a cafe. La Rose. Oh, God. It was the same name. The name of the cafe Levi and I spent time together in France. Forget about the name, Y/N, enjoy the food. I sat down at a table for two absentmindedly. And I heard a voice that shocked me.
"Hey."
"Ex/n! Oh my bloody God you scared me!"
"Haha." He paused. "I'm surprised to see you here. I mean, I know you study at Triolta now, but you coming to this cafe and sitting on this seat, where I am, it seems so... surreal." "I know, I can't believe it either."
Ex/n was my ex-boyfriend. We were high school sweethearts but broke up because we were going to different universities and long distance relationships don't work, really. The break-up had a huge impact on me, so I went to Paris to chill out. Where I met him.
Chatting with ex/n, I came to know he didn't get a girlfriend after our breakup. Which was surprising, because he's a pretty nice guy and kinda good looking too. Does he still hold feelings for me? I thought. "What about you?" He asked. "Huh?" "Did you... meet someone else?" I looked down. What could I say? After that mess, what was I supposed to say? "Y/N, what's wrong?" His protective, worried voice touched me. "Don't tell me you got a boyfriend and he dumped you." He said, sadly. "No! I'm not in a relationship. I wasn't in one after breaking up with you. It's just..." I sighed. "It's complicated. Stupid, even." "Go on, I won't judge." He said.
So I spilled the beans about Levi. I told him everything. Even about the cafe name. He carefully listened to it all silently. After I finished, he looked at me. "So that's why your eyes were so red." He said. "How... How did you notice?" He smiled ruefully. "When it comes to you, I just do." He exhaled. "Judging by the way you talk about him, I get the impression that he's not very good at expressing what he feels. He's awkward about this stuff. Am I right?" I nodded. "He is." "So maybe he was being harsh then because he just doesn't know how to open up and be vulnerable. At times like these, he gets harsh and prickly, because that's the natural way he knows how to deal with people and situations." I blinked. "Are you pursuing a degree in psychology?""No, engineering." "Doesn't seem like it!" We both laughed. Then I nodded. "Yeah. That could explain it. But then, what should I do?""Don't mention it now. Let a reasonable amount of time pass, and then ask him at a time and place which is right."I raised my eyebrows. "Wow, ex/n. You should have a relationship advice blog or something." He laughed. "Maybe one day I will." We smiled at each other. "So... wanna met up somewhere sometime?" I shook my head. "What a way to ask someone out." He looked at me, shocked. "It's not a date! After what I just heard from you, do you honestly think I'd ask you out? No! This is just to hangout. As friends. You can call bf/n, if you want. and your new friends in university, if you've made any." I nodded. "Brilliant! I'll call 'em all!" He laughed. We continued our conversation about new friends, this and that. The break time was about to get over, so I got up to leave. "Wait, do you have my phone number? We'll need to talk to organize this get-together." "I have it on my finger-tips. It is my favorite number, you know." He cocked an eyebrow flirtatiously. "Flirt." I murmured, a bit annoyed, but I found it funny and cute, too. "Sorry if I crossed a line." He said. "No, no. It's a joke, I know that. Goodbye!" "Bye, Y/n!"
I walked out, feeling better. I smiled.
It's gonna be ok. It's all gonna be ok.
