Chapter 3: Since Her Demise

Sakura watched as the sun, nature's beauteous incandescence descended from the surface of people's visibility at the her house's terrace as Sakura softly smiled at the memories she treasured with her beloved mother. Watching the sunset before supper, with her father and mother, together like a perfect family. Until, her demise. Her mother suffered high blood pressure when she was a mere 5 year old.

She was there. Lying half-dead in the clutches of her father's tight grasp. Sakura never stopped crying, while her mother would limply wipe her tears away, and gently pat her in the head. Her mother's last words echoed through the mind of the grieved pinkette.

'Stay strong. For you and your father's sake. My time has finally came, Sakura, and I don't want you to forever grieve upon my loss. Stay strong. For me'

Never had her words escaped her mind. Her mother always believed in her, to be someone remembered and inspire young citizens to grow up jist like her. And the pride her mother gave to her was not simply just a 'I'm supposed to be proud of my son/daughter, because he/she is made by my own flesh and blood' thing. Her mother ever since she was birthed, she gave her a large amount of overestimation that she thought was merely impossible for her to fulfill.

But she did it.

She attracted a wealthy school owner, to fully expensed scholarship. Never has she felt more relieved than 4 years ago.

Though, she may be grieved by her mother's passing, she couldn't say she's not happy with where she is now. Well, who wouldn't be. Being offered a scholarship at the Konoha Academy, was the best things that's ever happened to her since the invention of stuffed-crust pizza. Don't judge.

Under all this stress flowing in her mind stream, she hadn't noticed that the sun has fully set, and remains of orange smudge at the bottom of the horizon, was filled with inky blackness. She sighed tiredly, and headed downstairs, to her bedroom, and do nothing but think about life.

She walked down the stairs, not making a single creak, unlike kids her age, they would stomp around the staircase like a relentless giant. But, as mature as she is she shrugged the childish mannerisms, and focused back to her goals for the day. Whiiiich, she didn't quite plan.

A unrelated thought came to her mind. When she entered the Konoha Academy's premises she noticed a large amount of students.

And it's summer break.

Why would they still attend school? It could either be they highly prioritize their means of education, or they use the premises as a hang out spot for entertainment purposes.

She opened the door to her bedroom, and met a clean, arrayed, and organised room. Just like she left it. She inhaled the scent of an empty room, satisfied that the strong odor of bleach finally aired out. (She uses cleaning as a hobby) It is composed of a bed with lavender sheets, and mint green pillows, an ebony shelf, an ebony desk with a leather chair, and a big window with a quartz wall clock beside it. And if your wondering why she is filled with ebony furniture, she likes to preserve her material and objects just the way it was when they bought them, so she just buy black objects, so it wouldn't be affected by permanent stains. Unless it's glow in the dark, which is impossible to occur.

She slumped at her neatly arranged bed carelessly, and reached for the shelf at her right side,.and pulled out a book entitled: The School For Good and Evil.

She turned to the bookmarked page and unpatiently skipped to the part where 'Agatha', the main character mogrified (or transformed) into a cockroach to help 'Sophie', another main character to cheat her way through joining the 'Trial by Tale'.

30 minutes of hardcore reading and enhancement of vocabulary, she headed to the bathroom just beside her room. She placed the book vacant space in the shelf beside it's sequels and lazily stood up and marched to the bathroom. On her way, she glanced at the wall clock over by the stairs to the living room, reading 7:10. She sighed heavily, The life of a bookworm.

She opened the toilet door and closed it behind her. She walked to the mirror placing her hand on the side of the sink while carefully examining her facial features. She noticed that her bubblegum pink hair, was dulled to faded salmon, losing it's sheen, and that her jade-green eyes faded into light green. Studying all day maybe not be so healthy for her skin, for she saw slightly darkened bags under her eyes. She groaned, and grabbed the apricot scrub by the shower and washed her face rigorously. I have a lot of spare time. Grooming a little won't hurt.

45 minutes of intense grooming (if I told you the whole routine you would die of boredness)

Sakura came out as rejuvenated as ever. Her hair had the natural gloss it had a few days ago, and tied it to a short pony tail with her bangs falling to the side of her face, her eyes hadn't removed the bags, but it was covered by light foundation, and wore a flowing green dress made by her mother a few years back.

"Sweetie, dinner's ready!" Kizashi called from downstairs, as Sakura shouted 'coming' in reponse.

She headed to the staircase, and jumped over the rails, like a boss which is not suited by her feminine appearance.

The living room in sight, she saw her father placing a plate of onigiri on the table and poured jasmine tea to both their teapots. He saw her daughter's unusual look and smiled curiously. "What's with the get up, sweetie"

She softly smiled back at him. "Just suppressing the days of boredom, father." She answered.

Kizashi softly chuckled and sat on the table.

"Eat now, Sakura, or else the homemade onigiri you love so much will get cold."

Sakura smiled and walked over to the table. A chorus of 'itadakimasu' echoed through the empty house, as Sakura reached for a peice of onigiri on the plate.

Both ate silently and the only sound that was heard was the excessive dripping of sink water. The ambiance in the air wasn't any close to awkward silence. It's quite similar to the feeling of living alone, or in another situation where your alone in a certain place, while all you do is inhale the tranquil air. The feeling of being alone or quiet was very comfortable for the two Harunos, since it had been this way since her mother-, you know. She was the one who would break the silence and start up a conversation, where all three of them enjoyed together.

With all these memories about her mother, she hadn't noticed that it was her sixth serving of onigiri. She started to sweat profusely. She didn't plan on gaining weight this summer vacation. She wanted to look her best for Konoha Academy. Ibiki already had enrolled her a few weeks ago and the next semester is in three weeks. She has to gain more knowledge on fashion and grooming, fast.

She stood up and dabbed her lips with a table napkin and excused herself to go to sleep early. She marched up the stairs and took check of the time.

8:20

It was still one hour and forty minutes too early for her to sleep. She sat down her bed and memorized every detail of her ebony-filled furniture of her small room. She moved backwards to the spot where she piled her soft pillows, and within minutes, she dozed off.

Time skip

The rays of the sun shone brightly in her used to be dim room, with the left side of the curtains covering the sunshine to her face, not fully conscious. She groaned in her sleep and kicked the curtain roughly to the side, harshly shining it's blinding light to her eyes. She was taken aback by the sudden light that almost blinded her, and rolled to the side of the bed, landing square in the rump.

She rubbed her aching buttocks, and saw different colors of light flashing in every direction she looked. She massaged her eyes to help regain it's normal eyesight and walked to the door to do her normal routine. She stood in front of her door still with eyes closed. She reached a few times on the door knob not feeling anything solid. She opened her eyes and reached the door knob and twisted it lazily. Morning droopiness, if that's an existing word has fully taken over her body. She held the edges of the bathroom sink for balance and grabbed her green toothbrush on her right, brushed her teeth, brushed her hair. Using a hairbrush, of course. And washed her face with a bar of soap. She took a warm shower for 8 minutes and came out of the bathroom with her hair and body wrapped with towels. She proceeded to her room and took out a blue t-shirt and maong shorts, since she wasn't feeling like being a girl for a moment.

A few hours of reading, watching tv, and studying, was interrupted by the call of her distressed father.

"Sakura, would you come her for a second."

Sakura jumped out of her bed and parkoured her way to the stairs. Parkour is not childish, it is means of using/showing off your acrobatic skills in a bragging manner.

She saw her dad from the living room, in the kitchen scrutinizing through the cabinets. Sakura saw what he was looking at, and saw the cabinet empty.

Kizashi looked at her daughter with an anxious smile, and said, "Uh, sorry for asking you to do such tricky errands, but could you run to the store and buy some chilly for your old man."

Sakura sighed heavily, and reached her hand out to him. He soon gets the message as his face lit up.

"Thank you, sweetie. I promise to do something for you in returm." He said, reaching for money in his pants. He handed the bill to Sakura.

Sakura bid her farewell to her father, and exited the house. She traipsed to the nearest convenience store in Konoha, and started shopping for their potential needs that they currently lack. Well, her father did say he had a favor he owes to her, so buying a few snacks won't hurt.

To be continued
