~My English Assignment!!~

I am very excited about this, if you can't already tell!

Alright! Here it is!

Narrative Assignment: Write a story in which you take the reader through the different parts of a plot - the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and the resolution. In your narrative, you need to demonstrate your ability to create setting with mood and atmosphere, develop character(s) with direct and indirect characterization, develop a conflict that drives the plot, resolve the conflict in the climax of the story, and bring the story to an end in the falling action and resolution.

(Yes, that is word for word what it says, with the bold and everything)

So next we have a list of common themes in Literature, some of which I have ideas for, which will be marked with an X and I will discuss those ideas afterwards. Also, my teacher also said that we don't have to use a theme from this list so I happened to come up with my own theme, which I will let you know what I came up with.

Common Themes in Literature

Be careful what you wish for (That's not actually on there nor is it my idea but it seems like this theme is used A LOT so I put it first as a joke)
Remember: X means I have an idea.

1. Man Struggles Against Nature
2. Man Struggles Against Societal Pressure (X)
3. Man Struggles to Understand Divinity
4. Crime Does Not Pay (X)
5. Overcoming Adversity (X)
6. Friendship Is Dependent On Sacrifice
7. The Importance Of Family (And/or friends)
8. Love Is The Worthiest Of Pursuits (X)
9. Death Is Part Of The Life Cycle (X)
10. Sacrifices Bring Reward
11. Human Beings All Have The Same Needs
12. Beauty Comes From Within (X) (MY OWN THEME)

First off, all of these ideas (except for the crime does not pay one. That features Zoey Summers) feature a brand new OC of mine, who is (hopefully) in the media! Her name is Brittany Snowden and her personality is yet to be determined because I can't choose between all of these ideas. So, I'm going to let you guys seal her fate. Also, if I come up with any more ideas before we make a final decision, I will let you know ASAP.

Alright! Onto idea discussion!

1. Theme: Man Struggles Against Societal Pressure (Or Family Pressure in this case)
Summary:
Brittany Snowden was told to be nothing more than perfect. The perfect student, the perfect daughter, the perfect athlete, everything about her had to be flawless. Her parents told her to play every sport she could and to come home with straight A's on her report card during mid-term, the end of the quarter, and the end of the semester. If she didn't follow any of these things? She would be starved, beat, and locked away in her basement until she had to return to school or go to practice. Soon, Brittany starts to distance herself from her friends in hopes of pleasing her parents. But her friends soon find out what really goes on in the Snowden household and they try to do their best to stop it. Can Brittany be saved from the iron fist of her parents? Or will she have to continue to be "perfect" until she graduates?

2. Theme: Crime Does Not Pay
Summary:
Zoey Summers grew up the daughter of two very successful thieves. She began stealing toys from kids when she was just two years old. This soon turned into countless hours of punishment at school and many parent-teacher conferences with her parents disguised so they wouldn't be recognized. But this didn't stop her. She evolved from stealing toys and started stealing jewelry from the girls at the age of nine. But that didn't stop her. She kept moving from school to school because her parents are wanted criminals and use fake ID's to get around. But when Zoey is tasked to steal a diamond from a local jewelry store, she'll learn a valuable lesson: crime does not pay.

3. Overcoming Adversity
Summary:
How far will you go to save your loved one? Well, Brittany Snowden went as far as to save her own brother at the cost of her legs.

When she was thirteen, Brittany saw a train approaching. Her brother walked out onto the track, not seeing the train. Out of instinct, she shoved her brother out of the way, which resulted in her legs being cut off. Now, a month later, she must learn to live in a wheelchair, as she refused to walk with artificial legs. But, as time goes on, she starts to regret her split second decision to save her brother's life. Can she learn to overcome what's holding her back?

4. Theme: Love Is The Worthiest Of Pursuits
Summary:
Brittany Snowden wanted nothing more than to be an actress. She did every single play she could as a kid and usually played the main role. She loved the feeling of portraying someone else and she loved even more to hear the roar of applause at the end of her performances. But when both of her parents lose their jobs and can't afford to pay for Brittany's plays anymore, she falls into depression. She starts to looking for something else to love as much as she loved acting. But slowly she starts to realize that love is the worthiest of pursuits.

5. Theme: Death Is A Part Of The Life Cycle
Summary:
A deadly car accident leaves Brittany Snowden's brother dead. Luckily, she survives with minimal injuries. As she lies in the hospital, all she can think about is how she could've saved him. She starts to blame herself for his death and lies there, hoping that she'll just die. But when she gets an unexpected visitor, she'll learn that death is just a part of the life cycle.

6. Theme: Beauty Comes From Within
Summary:
Brittany Snowden always knew that she wasn't beautiful. As a child, she experienced physical abuse from her real parents before she was taken in my her grandparents. They would hit her, bite her, and even went as far as to starve her. As a result, her face is covered in bruises and scars that serve as a constant reminder of her abuse every single time she looks in the mirror. But no one at school ever asks about them. That's because she always wears a lot of makeup each and every day. But, as one of her closest friends is about to discover, Brittany continues to scar herself in the form of self-harm. She needs a hero, and she just might get one and a lesson that will change her forever.

And...that's all! Sorry that this is SUPER long but I wanted to get your guys' input because I just couldn't decide.

So, what idea do you guys think I should use? Let me know below!

(This part is 1,1173 words. Damn son)
